The ULTIMATE ITINERARY for 10 days in Buenos Aires

I spent one year in Argentina (plus 5 months in Buenos Aires back in 2005). Buenos Aires is one of my favorite cities in the entire world, and I want to share with you what makes it so great.

This 10 day itinerary begins on a Friday morning, and is arranged according to market schedules, or other events in the city that fall on particular days. But you can certainly do the activities out of order, and fit them to your schedule as needed.

I have planned this 10-day itinerary to allow you to maximize your days, and hours in this amazing city, but still allow you to enjoy the small moments without feeling overwhelmed, and get rest when needed.

If you're looking for further details, check out the itinerary on the Thatch app: it will provide you not only with daily activities, but information on how to get the best exchange rate, how to stay safe, and information for transportation- how to get from spot to spot, so you can put as little time into planning as possible. Let me do that for you! :)

Argentina (Spanish: [aɾxenˈtina]), officially the Argentine Republic[A] (Spanish: República Argentina), is a country located mostly in the southern half of South America. Sharing the bulk of the Southern Cone with Chile to the west, the country is also bordered by Bolivia and Paraguay to the north, Brazil to the northeast, Uruguay and the South Atlantic Ocean to the east, and the Drake Passage to the south. With a mainland area of 2,780,400 km2 (1,073,500 sq mi),[B] Argentina is the eighth-largest country in the world, the fourth largest in the Americas, the second largest in South America after Brazil, and the largest Spanish-speaking nation. The sovereign state is subdivided into twenty-three provinces (Spanish: provincias, singular provincia) and one autonomous city (ciudad autónoma), Buenos Aires, which is the federal capital of the nation (Spanish: Capital Federal) as decided by Congress.[17] The provinces and the capital have their own constitutions, but exist under a federal system. Argentina claims sovereignty over part of Antarctica, the Falkland Islands (Spanish: Islas Malvinas), and South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands.

Buenos Aires Beaches

Does Buenos Aires have Beaches? Well there are beaches but not in the area of central Buenos Aires. You will need to travel further out of the city.

For a coastal beach you need to head to the Atlantic Coast.

The nearest beaches are a approximately a 4-5 hour journey from Buenos Aires. These are the northern beaches of the Province of Buenos Aires. They are made up of coastal towns and resorts that extend from San Clemente down to Villa Gesell and beyond. A very chilled out place to visit with nice beaches is Mar Azul. To get to the coast you can take a coach from the Retiro Bus Terminal in Buenos Aires. It is recommended to treat yourself to at least a few days on the coast of Argentina.

For a freshwater beach and closer to Buenos Aires you can head to the beautiful Tigre Delta. This is an hour north of Buenos Aires.

Here you can catch small ferries, known as a Lanchas out to this labyrinth of waterway. Within the Delta are many guest-houses, cabins, bungalows and campsites, as well as restaurants. Many have riverside beaches and swimming pools where you can cool off. As the Delta is huge with a lot to offer, it is best to pop into the tourist office next to the McDonald's at the Port of Tigre first. They will put you on track of what places will best suit you.

ARGENTINA ADVENTURE - BUENOS AIRES & TIGRE 2023

“Bienvenidos Al Argentina!”
We're taking you on a tour of its capital. Buenos Aires. The city is so huge that we’re doing 2 videos, drawing a dividing line at the obelisk. In this first video we focus on everything in the northern half. Like the toilet museum—-oh yes, my friends, it’s a must see; and Buenos Aires’ first skyscraper, plenty of war memorials and Falklands history, boating in beautiful parks around the rose gardens, and watch this “generic flower” flower bloom in the sculpture park. That’s next to the world famous cemetery where Eva Peron is buried. Thats Evita of the Don’t Cry for Me Argentina song, and she’s everywhere. And you won’t believe what we discovered in the canals of the Tigre Delta. It’s off the grid! And what on earth is going on here in the garbage? Stay tuned!

ABOUT US:
We are Mandy (that's me) and Orlando (that's him). I am a Brit, a writer and massage therapist. Orlando is a New Yorker and an Air Force veteran having served for 28 years. We live in Miami with Abraham, our Great Pyrenees. He is in all the videos we made in the Continental U.S. We love to travel; we LIVE to travel and we do a lot of US roadtrips (check out all our other videos.)

Love to read and laugh?

Argentina Travel: An Excursion to Tigre

On November 8, 2011 I went on my first out-of-town excursion in Argentina. I took a local train from Lisandro de la Torre to Tigre, a town about 23 km north of Buenos Aires. The train was packed and after breaking down, we had to get off the train and another one scooped us up, but by 1 pm, I had arrived in Tigre, a famous resort town in the Parana River Delta. Named after the jaguars that used to live here, Tigre has many English-style rowing clubs (even the architecture is British!) and attractive mansions. I also went on a river tour where I got to see the vacation homes that have been built along the many river branches of the Parana Delta.

The Puerto de Frutos in Tigre used to be the warehouses for shipping out locally grown fruit, but since the 1980s, the buildings have been re-functioned into an arts and crafts market. Now you can buy hand-made wood and wicker furniture, wicker baskets, home décor items and there are still a few fruit and vegetable stores. Various bars and restaurants are also in the area and an amusement park is right next to the Puerto de Frutos.
