Interesting place to visit in Malaysia | Teluk Intan , Perak Vlog | Lita Mazlan

Where to travel in Malaysia?
Where are the interesting places in malaysia to visit?

Do visit Teluk Intan , Perak, Malaysia

The area around Teluk Intan was originally populated by refugees from the Malacca Sultanate who were part of the entourage of the Raja Muzaffar Shah, the eldest son of the last Sultan of Melaka, Sultan Mahmud Shah. Upon fleeing the Portuguese conquest of Melaka in 1511, a new kingdom was established on the banks of the Perak River near what is now Teluk Intan.

Leaning Tower erected in 1885 by a Chinese builder, Mr. Leong Choon Cheong. Similar to tower of Pisa in Italy. It started to tilt 4 years after its construction finished due to an underground stream. The tower was originally used as a water tower supplying the area of the town. It had a clock at the top, which still rings every 15 minutes. The tower also served as a beacon to guide ships into Teluk Intan Port. The tower came close to being demolished when a decision by the then Lower Perak Sanitary Board passed a resolution to have it demolished in July 1941due to the impending air raids. However, another board meeting in September of 1941 reversed that decision and the tower remains standing. The tower is also recognised as a National Heritage.

TELUK INTAN Town in Perak, Malaysia

Teluk Intan, Perak

Teluk Intan town is situated in the state of Perak, Malaysia, It is 163KM from Kuala Lumpur or 2 hours driving by car. Teluk Intan is surrounded by a giant loop of the river with population over 120,000. The town used to be known as Teluk Anson, in honour of the British official who helped to establish the town in the 1880s.

The town is famous for its pagoda shaped clock tower, nicknamed the Leaning Tower of Teluk Intan due to its definite tilt

The tower is standing at 25.5 meter height, was constructed in 1885 by Mr. Leong Choon Cheong and some Ceylonese contractors, It was built primarily to store water for local usage during the dry season and in case of fire. Local people contributed to buy the clock from James W. Benson, Turret Clock Makers of Ludgate Hill, London, It still works and chimes every 15 minutes.

The second floor of the tower was used by the Scouts in 1940, Since it began leaning over due to soft soil foundations, it has become a tourist attraction, It is a 3 storey brick construction with a large steel water tank at the upper level, From the outside however it has been disguised to look like an 8 storey Chinese pagoda. From 1977 to 1992 it was used as a branch of the Family Planning Board. The water tank is no longer used and is empty now.

The main economic activities in Teluk Intan are oil palm cultivation, palm oil production, shipbuilding and textile industry.

Sungai Perak:
Perak River is the second longest river in Peninsular Malaysia after Pahang River. A number of towns are on the banks of the river including the royal town of Kuala Kangsar. Most of the settlements in what is today Perak were situated near the river until the 19th century, when tin deposits were discovered elsewhere, most notably Ipoh

WCE:
The West Coast Expressway E32 is an interstate controlled-access highway running along the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The 233-kilometre expressway is currently under construction, with several sections are open for public use. Once completed, the expressway will run between Changkat Jering, Perak and Banting, Selangor, following federal routes 5 and 60 for most of its route. The expressway is expected to be fully completed by the end of 2022.

Menara Condong - Teluk Intan | Things to do in Perak | Malaysia

Exploring Menara Condong (Leaning Tower) Teluk Intan, ???????? Malaysia, one of the top things to do in Perak!

Menara Condong (Leaning Tower) Teluk Intan or local called it as Teluk Intan Clock Tower was built to be a ???? water tower to keep a reservoir for the ???? dry season, or in case of fire. Unfortunately, the ⛱ground was too soft to support the ????tower’s weight, which caused it to lean. Styled like an 8 story ????pagoda, the interior is actually only divided into 3 floors.

Entering Menara Condong (Leaning Tower) Teluk Intan do require entrance fees of RM2, if you would like to know more about the history of the leaning tower, Menara Condong of Teluk Intan definitely worth to visit.

安顺最正美食 Best Foodie Haunts in Teluk Intan

Dear friends
I’m slowly moving out of PJ to make features, for the entire week I was in Perak doing my rounds in some towns. For this episode I’ll start with my hometown Teluk Intan. Although this is my hometown but I already left Teluk Intan 50 years ago, which means I’ve not been keeping track with the food there. Thankfully I have relatives and friend who were there to guide me. This episode wouldn’t have been possible without the help of Annie Lee, William Lee, Bernard Ho and Poon Chee Seng. I hope you’ll enjoy this episode as much as I’ve worked on it. Please go out and support the local street food. Be it in Teluk Intan or otherwise. Thanks and see you in the next.

Teluk Intan is a town in Hilir Perak District, Perak, Malaysia. It is the district capital and largest town in Hilir Perak district and third largest town in the state of Perak with an estimated population of around 120,000, about half of Hilir Perak district's total population (232,900).

In the early days, the town was known as Teluk Mak Intan, after a female Mandailing trader. It was here that the Perak rulers held court from 1528 until Kuala Kangsar became the royal town in 1877.

During the British protectorate era, the named was changed to Teluk Anson (Anson Bay), in honour of a British officer and last lieutenant-governor of Penang, Major-General Sir Archibald Edward Harbord Anson, who drew the plan of the modern township in 1882.

In 1982 during the centenary of the town's establishment, the name was changed again to Teluk Intan (Diamond Bay) by the Sultan of Perak. Leaning Tower of Teluk Intan is one of the town attractions. The town has a number of colonial buildings and Chinese shophouses together with modern buildings, few shopping complexes and a modern cinema.

The Leaning Tower of Teluk Intan is a clock tower in Teluk Intan, Hilir Perak District, Perak, Malaysia. It is the Malaysian equivalent of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. It is 25.5 metres tall and, from the outside, looks like an 8 storey building, though inside it is actually divided into 3 storeys

TELUK Intan, located on the banks of Sg Perak, was once home to those fleeing the Portuguese conquest of Malacca in 1511. Today, the area is a sanctuary for another group – migratory birds.

Upstream soil erosion and silt deposits have made Sg Perak shallower and several islands have formed over time near Teluk Intan. These islands provide shelter and home to the threatened world migratory birds.

One particular island, still unnamed, is now a sanctuary to tens of thousands of these birds, mostly of cattle egrets and purple herons. The island is just 3km from the famous Leaning Tower of Teluk Intan and many Malaysians, including locals, are unaware of this nature’s wonder.

Malaysia lies along the path of the East Asian-Australasian flyway that provides strategic and important resting sites for migratory birds flying between wintering sites in Southeast Asia and Australia, and the breeding sites in China, Japan, Korean, Mongolia and Siberia.

However, these migratory birds have taken residence at these islands and are now spotted year-round. Every day, as the sun sets over the island, some 30,000 to 40,000 egrets and herons return to roost.

Stay: MONGOLIAN HUT Themed Resort in Malaysia?

During our short family trip to Teluk Intan, we stayed at Rick Resort which surprisingly offers a unique Mongolian Hut (Yurt) accommodation. We were very surprised there was such an interesting hotel in Teluk Intan which is tucked away in a quieter part of town. Location wise, it's a little further out of town so getting there by car or bike is advisable.

The parking at Rick Resort isn't aplenty so do head over earlier than the scheduled check-in time to ensure carpark for yourself. Upon walking in, everything was laid out very well and signage are there to guide you on their respective rules and facilities.

We stayed in their Mongolian Hut or Yurt with Private Bathroom and the bed was huge enough to accommodate all 4 of us and perhaps even 1 more adult if required. We love the outdoor private area where we sat to have our late-night snacks, coffee breaks and breakfast.

With their unique settings and affordable rates, Rick Resort is truly a hidden gem in a historic and quiet town of Teluk Intan.

Last but not least, we paid for our stay hence this video is not sponsored in any way by Rick Resort at Teluk Intan. For more info and to check out their promotions, please visit Rick Resort's official Facebook page:
