Puerto Morelos, Mexico - First of all, this isn’t a video about Things to do in Tulum. We actually skip Tulum all together on this Riviera May trip, because truthfully, it gets enough attention… I know, that’s crazy for me to say as a quote-un-quote “Influencer.”
Instead, today we leave Cancun behind, driving south, for a location that I think is even better than the hyped up hot spot of Tulum.
After two incredible days of searching for the best tacos in Cancun, and spending time outside the city with a traditional Mayan family, we’re ready to press on with our Riviera Maya Road Trip.
Next stop: Things to do in Puerto Morelos!
Right off the top, Puerto Morelos feels like you’ve teleported back to a more peaceful time, before the spring breaks and mega resorts found this incredible coastline.
Puerto Morelos is an authentic fishing village with a Bohemian atmosphere, but still caters to the more curious travelers who find this place.
You have all of the spa treatments, yoga studios, and open-air restaurants; including our first stop of the morning, the delicious El Nicho restaurant for a quick breakfast and then a green juice at nearby Mangata.
The National Reef Park of Puerto Morelos is the second largest barrier reef in the world, and it lives only about 400 meters off shore.
The coral reef and seagrass area is one of the most beautiful and best preserved in all of the Riviera Maya, so of course we had to come get a closer look.
This afternoon its back into the jungle to find a new cenote. Puerto Morelos has direct access to La Ruta de los Cenotes, the main road that visitors from Cancun, Tulum, and Playa del Carmen take to experience these incredible swimming holes. Along this route there are countless options, each with their own allure, and we decide on Cenotes Kin-Ha, a site that features two very unique spots.
If I haven’t mentioned this already, the trick with enjoying the beautiful cenotes in the Riviera Maya, you gotta either be the first ones here when they open, or be the last ones there in the afternoon if you want to fully appreciate these more well-known places without the crowds.
Luckily, we’re the last ones here and once we get all checked in, it’s up to us just go find the right hole in the ground.
I’m not gunna lie to you guys, the second cenote location was sketchy.
Cenote blanca Flor or White Flower, is such an innocent name, but if you’re not careful at this spot you could get seriously injured.
There’s a 5-level platform you can jump from, with the highest being 14 meters or 45 feet high, and also three zip-line options.
This is the gift and curse of having the entire place to yourself, if something goes wrong there’s nobody around to hear you scream.
We take a few, calculated risks and just enjoy the silence of the jungle for minute before it’s time to head back into Puerto Morelos for dinner…
Now, Puerto Morelos may not have as many fancy fine dining options or bottle service establishments as it’s more developed neighbors, but as a small fishing village it does have a lot of great fresh and simple seafood options.
At El Merkadito, right on the beach, you can pick out a catch of the day from the cooler, choose how you’d like it seasoned and they’ll cook for you right out front in the brick oven.
to me, this is the perfect way to end a full day.

Playa el Real, el Real Beach, Tecoman Colima, Mexico
El Real Beach is located about 2 1/2 hours south of Guadalajara in the city of Tecoman, state of Colima. It is very relaxing there and with no mega hotel chains you can experience the real Mexico. It is very affordable and has many top rated restaurants. Great place to go camping, and it is only a few minutes from town.

Colima, Mexico is the 4th smallest state in the country, it’s no wonder why it doesn’t see a lot of tourism. In this video, we explore some of Colima’s rural towns. First we visit El Remate, where we have a delicious meal at the restaurant “El Remate, Tradición y Sabor.”
Then, we make our way to La Yerbabuena, the community closest to the Volcan de Fuego de Colima (The Fire Volcano of Colima, one of Mexico’s most active volcanoes).
Lastly, we end the day at La Terraza de Mary, a coffee shop with a great view of the volcanoes.

Hola amigos, continuando con nuestro recorrido por los lugares turísticos de Colima, hoy me tocó visitar la playa de Boca de Pascuales. Esta playa se localiza a escasos 10 km del municipio de Tecomán Colima y podrás llegar a ella por una carretera pavimentada que se desprende de la glorieta del monumento al limón. Esta playa es mar abierto y de aguas profundas por lo que el oleaje es fuerte y si te metes a bañar deberás de tomar tus precausiones. Su oleaje es fuerte lo cual la hace ideal para la práctica del surfing.
En dicha playa podrán observar la desembocadura del río Armería. Es de las más populares y concurridas del municipio de Tecomán, debido a que también en dicha playa se realizan varios torneos deportivos cada año. Los restaurantes del sitio han cobrado fama gracias a los exquisitos platillos que ofrecen, como los langostinos al mojo de ajo y el pescado zarandeado.

Boca de Pascuales beach in Tecomán Colima. Tourist spot.
Hello friends, continuing with our tour of the tourist places of Colima, today I had to visit the beach of Boca de Pascuales. This beach is located just 10 km from the municipality of Tecomán Colima and you can reach it by a paved road that emerges from the lemon monument's gazebo. This beach is open sea and deep water so the waves are strong and if you go to bathe you should take your precautions. Its waves are strong which makes it ideal for surfing.
On this beach you can observe the mouth of the Armería river. It is one of the most popular and crowded in the municipality of Tecomán, because several sports tournaments are also held on that beach every year. The restaurants of the site have gained fame thanks to the exquisite dishes they offer, such as shrimp with garlic sauce and shaked fish.
