Tczew is a city on the Wisła (Vistula) River in Eastern Pomerania, Kociewie, northern Poland with 60,279 inhabitants (June 2009). The city is known for its Old Town and the Vistula Bridge, or Bridge of Tczew, which played a key role in the Invasion of Poland during World War II. Tczew has been the capital of Tczew County in the Pomeranian Voivodeship since 1999, and was previously a town in Gdańsk Voivodeship (1975–1998). It is also the largest town of the ethnocultural region of Kociewie. To read more about TcZew, click here: .
The film begins with the approach to Tczew Railway station on a train from Gdańsk and ends with the view from a train to Gdańsk as it leaves Tczew Railway Station for the Pomeranian countryside.

TCZEW - Where World War II began // Most Tczewski | Rynek w Tczewie
Tczew - a small city on the Vistula River in Eastern Pomerania.
We visited Tczew from Gdańsk on Easter Saturday afternoon. Admittedly, this little city was a bit quiet on this particular day. However, there were a fair few people strolling along the Vistula Boulevard (Bulwar Nadwiślański).
Some of the main sights in Tczew which this video highlights include:
➽ Most Tczewski (Tczew Bridge) - Historians generally agree that this bridge was the real location for the start of World War Two
➽ Roman Landowski Bench - Landowski was an important figure in the history of Tczew and the entire Kociewie region. He was a poet, writer and well-known promoter of local culture and traditions.
➽ Main Square (Plac Hallera)
➽ “Seasonal Statue” on the Main Square - a statue that represents the current season, meaning they have four changing statues every year

Tczew to miasto powiatowe nad Wisłą w województwie pomorskim. Położony jest w regionie Kociewie, drugim obok Kaszub regionie Pomorza Gdańskiego, należy do diecezji pelplińskiej. Ważny węzeł komunikacyjny Polski północnej, leżący przy skrzyżowaniu szlaku Śląsk-Bałtyk i Berlin-Królewiec.
Pierwsza źródłowa wzmianka o Tczewie pochodzi z 1198 roku, kiedy to książę świecki Grzymisław nadał dobra ziemskie na Pomorzu gdańskim zakonowi Joannitów. W wystawionym dokumencie wymienił osadę Trsow.
Rosnące znaczenie gospodarczej funkcji Wisły i kilku ośrodków osadniczych występujących w XII - XIII wieku na terenie Tczewa zadecydowało o budowie zamku i przeniesieniu stolicy księstwa przez Sambora II z Lubiszewa do Tczewa na przełomie 1252/1253 roku.
Powstanie Rady Miejskiej w Tczewie, ukonstytuowanej już w 1258 roku za przyzwoleniem księcia pomorskiego Sambora II, wyprzedza lokację miasta, która nastąpiła w 1260 roku. Jest to jedyny tego typu przypadek w Polsce.
Po zajęciu Pomorza Gdańskiego przez Krzyżaków (1308 r.) aż do pokoju toruńskiego (1466 r.) miasto podporządkowane było państwu zakonnemu.
Od 1468 roku Tczew był siedzibą starostwa niegrodowego oraz powiatu. Miasto odzyskało swój nadwiślański charakter, stało się ważnym ośrodkiem kupieckim i rzemieślniczym oraz istotnym ogniwem polskiego handlu zbożem.
W 1577 r. miasto spłonęło doszczętnie z winy wojsk króla Stefana Batorego, które po zwycięstwie nad zbuntowanym Gdańskiem obozowały pod Tczewem. Niedługo po odbudowaniu, miasto dotknęły niszczące skutki wojen szwedzkich.
W 1772 roku, z chwilą pierwszego rozbioru Rzeczypospolitej, Tczew znalazł się pod panowaniem pruskim.
W latach międzywojennych Tczew zasłynął pierwszą w Polsce Szkołą Morską, później przeniesioną do Gdyni.
