???? Explore Renmark South Australia ~ Things to do in and around Renmark

???? Explore Renmark South Australia ~ Things to do in and around Renmark

Renmark is the largest town in the Riverland region and is located 258 kilometres northeast of Adelaide. This area is best known for its lovely fresh produce, especially oranges and grapes; in fact, it is the largest wine region in Australia.

The historic town of Renmark was established in 1887 on a sweeping bend on the River Murray and has a beautiful and accessible riverfront area. It is a popular holiday destination with cafes, restaurants, pubs and clubs to enjoy the regional produce.

00:00 Introduction
01:16 Arrosto Coffee
01:35 Matulick Riverfront Trail includes the water play area
03:54 Paringa Bridge
04:15 Paringa Silo Art
04:42 Headings Cliffs Lookout
05:30 Rustons Distillery and Rose Garden
06:25 More things to do in Renmark

During our recent visit to Renmark we started the day at Arrosto Coffee and then wandered along the Matulick Riverfront trail on the banks of the River Murray. We then headed over to Paringa to see the bridge and silo art before venturing out to the Headings Cliffs lookout. We finished the day at Ruston’s Distillery and Rose Garden.

Arrosto Coffee is located in the old Renmark Fire Station and is open daily for coffee, cakes and other treats. You can enjoy your coffee in the fire station-themed cafe or outside in the family-friendly backyard.

The Matulick trail starts at the Visitor Centre and meanders 1.75 kilometres along the riverfront. There are interpretive signs that provide information on historical events and places along the path.

The Renmark Hotel was established in 1897 and is Australia’s first and oldest community-owned hotel. The family-friendly Renmark Club was originally a Gentleman's Club that was built on the edge of the river in 1909.

At the Taylor Riverfront precinct, you can splash in the Harry Clark Water Play area and enjoy lovely views of the River from the 24-metre deck area. The Murray River Queen was built in 1974 and is one of the oldest and largest paddle boats on the River; it is now permanently moored at the wharf and used for boutique accommodation.

This sculpture commemorates David Ruston who was known for his development of roses and was awarded an Order of Australia in 1984 for services to horticulture.

The Paringa Bridge is a suspension bridge built in 1927 it forms part of the Sturt Highway, carrying traffic across the Murray River between Renmark and Paringa. The bridge can be raised to allow large riverboats to pass underneath it.

The Artworks on the Paringa Silo were created and painted by Jack Fran and Sam Brooks; they feature four distinct images linked together by soaring pelicans.

The Headings Cliffs lookout is a 10-minute drive from Paringa, and here you will see the unique, rich colours of the golden limestone cliffs; it's a lovely spot for photographers.

Rustons Distillery is a boutique distillery with a range of gins all carefully handcrafted and distilled onsite. You can also wander around Rustons Rose Garden, one of the largest private rose gardens in the Southern Hemisphere.

Other things you can do in Renmark are the Olivewood Historic Homestead and Museum, The Woolshed Brewery located in the historic 100-year-old shearing sheds of Wilkadene Station, Twenty Third Street Distillery, and Angove’s and Mallee Estate Wineries.

Aerial view : Studley Park Boathouse Kew - Melbourne Victoria : Australia

The Studley Park Boathouse is the first boathouse in Melbourne Australia and located in the suburb of Kew – Back in 1863 the Burn Family established the first boathouse on the Yarra River, and named it Riversdale; this same boathouse is known as the Studley Park Boathouse Kew

The boathouse is just a 10-15 minute drive from the Melbourne CBD (Central Business District)

In 1992 Heritage architects developed a restoration plan and the boathouse was re-roofed, re-wired and refitted while maintaining all its original character and ambience.

Studley Park Boathouse has also been the location for the tv soapie, Neighbours, The Sullivans including the tv mini-series Power without Glory and the movie Squizzy Taylor.

HORSHAM / GIANT KOALA / HORSHAM VICTORIA / HORSHAM RIVERSIDE CARAVAN PARK / VANLIFE / G'DAY PARKS

#horsham
#GiantKoala
#campingvictoria

In this episode, we travel in our converted Ford transit campervan, with our dog, to Horsham Victoria, Australia. We camped at Horsham Riverside Caravan Park Victoria, which I show you around in this episode.

Below lists the places we visited in this episode.
Horsham Riverside Caravan
The Giant Koala
Horsham Regional Art Gallery
Horsham Botanic Gardens
Silo Art
Myth Making exhibition

Horsham is the largest city in the Wimmera wheat growing and sheep grazing district in western Victoria. It is located between Stawell and Dimboola, on the main highway linking Melbourne and Adelaide. Horsham features a large commercial centre that lines much of Firebrace Street and extends into adjoining streets. Located within the town centre are a number of cultural attractions including the Horsham Art Gallery which specialises in Australian photography, and several performing arts venues.
There are several attractive parks and gardens in Horsham such as the Horsham Botanic Gardens, towards the southern end of Firebrace The Botanic Gardens, were established in 1873 and occupy a 16-hectare site along the northern side of the Wimmera River and consist of formal gardens, wetlands, shaded lawns, woodlands, a lake and recreational facilities.

Surrounding Horsham are vast wheat fields, pastoral land, and colourful fields of wildflowers. To the south-east, along the Western Highway, are the Wimmera Lakes which form part of the Wimmera-Mallee irrigation system. Green Lake, on the southern side of the highway, has a picnic area overlooking the lake and includes a boat ramp, jetty and swimming beach. Taylors Lake, a few kilometres north of the highway, is a recreational lake suitable for fishing, boating and swimming.

Horsham is a handy base to explore the region's nearby natural attractions. The northern extremity of the Grampians National Park is located 25 kilometres south-east of Horsham, while the the Little Desert National Park can be accessed via a number of small towns to the west and north-west. Mount Arapiles, less than 35 kilometres west of Horsham via Natimuk, is widely regarded as one of the top rock-climbing areas in Australia and is also a great location for bushwalking and camping.

Horsham Riverside Caravan Park
Horsham Riverside Caravan Park has a wonderful mix of outdoor activities in a range of wide open spaces. With cultural, recreational and leisure activities close to town, they’re perfectly situated to offer quality family accommodation at affordable rates in the Horsham area. They are per friendly too!

We also visit the Giant Koala, which is situated midway between Stawell and Horsham. The Giant Koala is one of Australia’s iconic “Big Things”. You can take a break, and stop for a snack or meal at the restaurant. There is a large range of savouries and gifts inside the Koala.

We hope you enjoy our channel. We enjoy part-time van-life, creating weekly episodes that are live at 5pm (AEST) Sundays, and sharing our experiences on our travels with our cavoodle, Twyla. In our episodes we stay at free and paid campsites, showing our tips and tricks on how to make life on the road easier and fun. Come join us on our adventures!
