Tacuarembó es uno de los diecinueve departamentos que componen la República Oriental del Uruguay. Su capital es la ciudad homónima Tacuarembó.

Está ubicado en el centro norte del país, limitando al noreste con Rivera, al sur con el río Negro que lo separa de Cerro Largo y Durazno, y al oeste con Río Negro, Paysandú y Salto. Con 15 438 km² es el departamento más extenso y con 93000 habitantes, 5,83 hab/km², el cuarto menos densamente poblado.
