The STRANGEST ISLAND in the PHILIPPINES
Danajon Islet, also known as Dawahon Islet, is an islet in the Philippines found at the easternmost end of the Danajon Bank. The islet is coterminous with Barangay Dawahon, which is under the jurisdiction of the municipality of Bato in the province of Leyte.
There is an elementary school, a church, two basketball courts, one small road, and one government medical clinic. The high school children are sent to Hingotanan Island, 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) away by boat. There is a weekly ferry service from this islet to mainland town of Bato, Leyte, which is 24 kilometres (15 mi) away. Other nearby islands include Bilanglangan Island, Gaus Island, & the Caubyan Islets, which are 27 miles (43 km) to the east.
The islet takes its name from the Danajon Bank, the Philippines only double barrier reef and one of only 6 documented double barrier reefs in the world. A very rare geological formation, it comprises two sets of large coral reefs that formed offshore on a submarine ridge due to a combination of favorable tidal currents and coral growth in the area.
Danajon Bank is home to a vast array of commercially valuable reef fishes, shellfish, crustaceans, and invertebrates such as sea cucumbers and sea urchins. Its extensive seagrass beds are nursery and feeding grounds for various species of rabbitfish (siganids) and sea horses, while its mangroves are spawning habitats for crustaceans, shrimps, and various fishes.

Very beautiful but very hot place. It took about 21 days to get use to the heat. During that time I would cheat by ducking into an internet cafe or slip back to the hotel until I was brave enough to weather the weather. Most of this video was taken either at the Ocean Pearl Resort in Tabango or just outside the compound on the one road leading to it. I climbed the mountain that has the tower on the top. Great cardio workout. I must mention that the music is by Norah Jones, Song title; Come Away With Me. Wish I could have used a tripod but carrying what I did was more then enough this time or any future trips. Remember, luggage on wheels, luggage on wheels, luggage on wheels, luggage on wheels. Just trying to remind myself.

—GETTING THERE—
1. Take the v-hire from Tacloban City to the town of Tabango.
✅ Fare is ₱180 and travel time is approx. 1 hour and 50 mins (92.2km)
2. Upon arrival in Tabango town terminal, ride a tricycle going to PANTALAN DURANO or Liog-Liog. Proactive tell the driver that you're heading to Dawahon Island.
✅ One-way fare is ₱10.00 /HEAD from TABANGO TERMINAL to PANTALAN DURANO and 20.00/Head from TABANGO TERMINAL to LIOG-LIOG and travel time is 5-10minutes.
3. Upon arrival in PPANTALAN DURANO and Liog-Liog, just approach any of the friendly residents that you're heading to Dawahon Island. They will lead you to the boat owners who can take you to the island.
✅Travel time is approx. 20-30 minutes.
✅ Island Environmental Fee is ₱10.00
✅ There are several cottages for rent but we weren't able to get the rates. However there are several shady areas in the island.
⚠️ IMPORTANT REMINDERS
▪️ Bring your own food and water. There is no store in the island.
▪️ Bring your own snorkeling gears. There are no available aqua activity gears for rent

The resort is privately managed by the heirs of Marcelo Conson, the beach is named to their patriarch Marcelo - a long time public servant of the municipality of San Isidro, Leyte, specifically in Barangay Basud where he served as the Punong Barangay.

Benjamin, (I'll spell it that way because I'm sure I would have trouble otherwise). Anyway we stumbled into a den of women, some eating bood bood. That's where we found Benjamin's wife eating said such aforementioned food. It was so dark that I tried to edit the video and just got a flashing look after it rendered.
