Falling In Love In Banjul, Gambia ???????? You Won't Believe This! #Gambia,Africa Ep.6

Banjul is the capital city of the Gambia, a small West African country bordered by Senegal. The city sits on an island where the Gambia River meets the Atlantic Ocean. Its colonial buildings include the National Museum, dedicated to Gambian culture and history. Vendors at the lively Albert Market sell colorful textiles and local produce. The city's main entrance is marked by the immense, columned Arch 22 gateway.

I am on a mission to visit 21 countries in 2021 telling the African story the African way. So far I have done 6 countries. 15 remaining.

Inside The Biggest Market In Banjul ???????? Royal Albert Market #Gambia Africa Ep.9

Albert Market is in Banjul on Liberation Avenue and is the capital's main urban market. It was named after Queen Victoria's husband Prince Albert Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. It is essentially an emporium that is pungent, lively and bustling with a large selection of vividly designed fabrics, carved wooden masks and fresh produce which is packed to the brim. All this is laid out within a labyrinth of alleys and hundreds of rickety stalls and purpose built shops. It is open from 8am to 7pm.

8 amazing facts about The Gambia| All you need before you visit #thegambia #smilingcoast #allyouneed

In this jaunt rocks video I’ll be showing you 8 amazing facts about The Gambia. Here is all you need to know before a visit to the smiling coast of Africa. This travel guide presents you the facts of smiling coast of Africa.

1 The Gambia is located in West Africa on the Atlantic coast and is entirely surrounded by Senegal.
The Gambia is the smallest country in continental Africa. Only the island nations of Cape Verde, Comoros, Mauritius, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Seychelles are smaller.

2 Nationals of Ecowas, the EU, and many other nations are offered 30-90 days visa free access. Please remember to check the details with the gambian immigration authority before travelling.

Also the Gambia can easily be accessed at affordable rates by mostly air and road within 6hrs from Europe and within Africa.

3 The Gambia is home to nine different tribes
The largest of these tribes is the Mandinka, along with the Fula and Wolof, all of whom live together harmoniously.
However, English remains the official language.

4. The Gambia is well known as 'the smiling coast' and not without good reason. Gambians are among the friendliest people you could hope to meet.
As you explore The Gambia you'll find almost everyone, whether they are total strangers or old friends, will have a smile for you.
It can come as a bit of a shock to first time visitors.

5.The gambia is home to the Kunta Kinte Island, formerly known as the James island and the stone circles of the Senegambia

6.The gambia is blessed with pristine beaches along its 80km atlantic coastline. Here you’ll find plenty of sun loungers, restaurants and beach bars.
Enjoy the still and idyllic long stretches of golden sands backed by gently swaying palm trees.

7. The Gambia is renowned for its abundant supply of fresh seafood; lady fish, barracuda, butter fish and Atlantic prawns
are just some of what you'll find on many menus.

8. The Gambia has a sub-tropical climate with sunshine throughout the year and average temperatures between 29°C and 34°C.
There are two distinct seasons: towards the end of October the dry season begins and it's not until mid June that any rain
is seen again, marking the start of the green season.

Note: I also noticed that Gambia is huge on sex tourism in africa and it also has great musicians like sona jorbateh. So if you are looking for where
to visit in africa, the Gambia is a nice place to visit in west africa.

For those that ask the question, is the gambia safe? My answer is a resounding yes, however, you need to avoid common tourist mistakes like wearing heavy jewelry and going to unknown areas in the dark hours of the night.

Conclusion: There's so much more to this country and u'll only discover it by experiencing the sights and sounds yourself.
Why not plan a visit today?

See you on the other side

Africa Vlog part 2| Senegambia

THE GAMBIA: A country of ferries, rivers and mangroves // EPS. 6

From Senegal we drove to the Gambia - the smallest country on Africa's mainland that is dominated by the Gambia river. We took the slowest ferry ever, made new friends at the border (I included a little guide on how to cross borsers in Westafrica ;) ) and went on another ferry from the town Barra to Gambiad capital Banjul. On the way we stopped several times to soak in the atmosphere and fly the drone above the beautiful mangrove forest.

//NOTE: videos were recorded before I had a Youtube Channel - initially used for my Instagram stories. That's the reason for the close ups of my face - they were recorded vertically. I still decided to use them - that's the authentic footage I have and I can't change that anymore. Remember: I just started out with filming and cutting - its a learning curve and far from perfect! If you mind seeing my nose hair every now and then, I can highly recommend you to skip this part of the journey and join again when I will publish my next trips after the country Benin with hopefully improved footage!

// Welcome to the journey! I am Lea, a journalist and author and I want to take you with me on a motorcycle overloading adventure to all the wild and beautiful places in the world!

//Join the first stage of my trip around Africa along the coast of Westafrica through 12 countries: Morocco, Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea-Conakry, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Cote D’Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, Benin.
Time of the journey: November 2019 to Feburary 2020

// I circumnavigated the world solo from 2016-2017 and now I am going to all other places I have not seen yet. Now on the channel: my motorcycle trip around africa/ the first stage of the journey through westafrica.

About Gambia: The Gambia, officially the Republic of The Gambia, is a country in West Africa. It is the smallest country within mainland Africa and is surrounded by Senegal, except for its western coast on the Atlantic Ocean. The Gambia is situated on both sides of the lower reaches of the Gambia River, the nations namesake, which flows through the centre of the Gambia and empties into the Atlantic Ocean. It has an area of 10,689 square kilometres. Banjul is the Gambian capital and the countrys largest metropolitan area. The largest cities are Serekunda and Brikama. The Gambia shares historical roots with many other West African nations in the slave trade, which was the key factor in the placing and keeping of a colony on the Gambia River, first by the Portuguese, during which era it was known as A Gâmbia. Later, on 25 May 1765, the Gambia was made a part of the British Empire when the government formally assumed control, establishing the Gambia Colony and Protectorate. In 1965, the Gambia gained independence under the leadership of Dawda Jawara, who ruled until Yahya Jammeh seized power in a bloodless 1994 coup. Adama Barrow became the Gambias third president in January 2017, after defeating Jammeh in the December 2016 elections. Jammeh initially accepted the results, then refused to accept them, which triggered a constitutional crisis and military intervention by the Economic Community of West African States, resulting in his exile. Serekunda (proper: Sayerr Kunda or Sere Kunda, Arabic: سيريكوندا‎, sometimes spelled Serrekunda) is the largest urban centre in The Gambia. It is situated close to the Atlantic coast, 13 km (8 mi) south-west of the capital, Banjul, and is formed of nine villages which have grown together into a larger urban area. In march I travelled to The Gambia. I needed to enjoy the sun and wanted to travel to a destination where I could explore the country as well and experiences different things. Gambia was the perfect destination. 30 Degrees everyday, a accomodation located direct at the beach of Kololi. There I met the driver Barry from Local Gambia Tours who drove me around the country. From Kololi to Banjul, to the border with Senegal and spotting chimps in the heart of Gambia.
