Top 10 Brisbane Travel Guide - The Top 10 Things to do in Brisbane

The third-largest city in Australia after Sydney and Melbourne, Brisbane is located on the east coast of the country in Queensland, which is nicknamed the ‘Sunshine State.’ Appropriately enough, it is blessed with year-round good weather, so both locals and tourists alike indulge in a wide variety of outdoor activities. Many of these take place on the banks of the Brisbane River that courses through the center of the city on its way to the coast.

Besides its warm climate and plethora of recreational tourist attractions, Brisbane has a burgeoning culinary scene for visitors to explore, with new restaurants, coffee shops, and bars springing up all the time.

Home to an increasingly lively arts and culture scene, the city has lots of theaters and unique music venues on offer, as well as its fantastic Gallery of Modern Art. A popular tourist destination in its own right, Brisbane also serves as a gateway to the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast, both of which lie nearby.

Is it worth visiting the Blue Mountains in Australia? - Part 11

I got the train from central station to springwood where there was a bus replacement service running to Katoomba. I then got the local bus to the Three sisters. I asked in the information centre about the scenic world the guy said nothing about booking tickets in fact he said it would be better to do the three sisters then make myway ofer later in the day!!!! In my experience this was not the right advice. He should have told me to book my tickets there and then online at 9.20am, that way I could have gone in a lot sooner.

I thought the blue mountains were truly beautiful just a shame about the crowds. If I had known I would have pre booked and made sure I was there when the doors opened.

BEST National Park in NSW, Australia? Camping, camp fires, stargazing and hiking EP8

On our #biglap we roadtrip to the #WarrumbungleNationalPark, arguably Australia’s most epic mountain range to climb mountains and capture astro videography.

If you’re into van life, own a caravan or just want a laugh, on the road we put on a show of how not to tow a caravan. Our caravan DETACHES FROM OUR CAR mid drive!! Thank god we had a high lift jack.

The Warrumbungle National Park in New South Wales is Australia’s first dark sky park, meaning it’s one of the best places in Australia for astronomy and stargazing. Dunc literally YouTubed “how do take Astro videos” yesterday and the end result is very cool.

The mountain range was formed over 17 million years from an active volcano and the jagged rock face made for an interesting climb / hike up. We chose the Breadknife and Grand High Tops #hike, we can highly recommend.

Enjoy!!

We’d like something to show the grandkids, so we’ve set ourselves the task of making videos of our Australian travel adventures weekly. If you want to follow along and see if we love (or hate) not having a routine or more than 6 metres of living space…or if you’re just looking for holiday inspiration, then SUBSCRIBE!

Sydney | Is a day trip to the Blue Mountains worth it?

Today we took a day trip out to the Blue Mountains which is about a 2 hour train ride from Sydney.

We started in Katoomba and saw the Three Sisters at Echo Point lookout which is just a short walk from where the buses drop off.

We hiked the Prince Henry Cliff Walk starting from Echo Point via Leura Cascades. From the trail, there are numerous lookout points, each offering stunning views of the valley.

We finished with a delicious and well deserved lunch at the Bakehouse on Wentworth before catching the train from Leura back to Sydney.

Sandstone walls, ever-present waterfalls and abundant native plants line Grand Canyon track near Blackheath in the Blue Mountains. The historic loop track takes you into the heart of this World Heritage-listed landscape. It's an intimate, adventurous, and popular track that walkers have trodden since 1907.

Setting out from Grand Canyon carpark this well-shaded track meanders through luscious native vegetation of ferns and golden wattles and remains close to Greaves Creek. All of these things combine to make this a particularly good walk for the summer months.

Although there are loads of semi-ledges that make up this challenging walk, it is one of the rare locations where you don’t need specialist hiking or abseiling equipment to explore a canyon. Comfortable walking shoes are all you’ll need to get out there and explore
