20 things to do in Lisbon, Portugal | Top Attractions Travel Guide:
Our first stop of the day was Sao Jorge Castle, which is an old Moorish fortification that sits on a hill overlooking Lisbon and the Tagus River. You can get some nice panoramic views of the city from here, and they also have peacocks roaming the grounds.
Miradouro das Portas do Sol is one of the many look out points in Lisbon that offers postcard-perfect views of the city. This particular terrace overlooks the Alfama district and it is always popular with tourists.
Carmo is a mediaeval convent that was ruined during the 1755 earthquake, and today it is used as an archaeological museum. It's a strange feeling walking down the ruined nave of the church and seeing blue skies above your head, but that's exactly what makes it worth a visit.
Another place to visit is Belem Tower. The tower was built on the banks of the Tagus River, and it was meant to act as both a defense system and a ceremonial gateway into Lisbon.
The Jeronimos Monastery is one of the most visited sights in Lisbon. It's one of the best examples of Late Gothic Manueline architecture, so have a close look at the intricate detailing when you visit.
A fun way to get around Lisbon's hilly streets is by riding the trams. There are different lines across the city, but #28 is the most popular one with visitors.
The Santa Justa lift is an elevator that connects the lower streets of Baixa with Carmo Square, and it is the only remaining vertical elevator in Lisbon. Though it is meant to serve a functional role, it is also quite popular with visitors who find the elevator a novel idea.

???? Vila Nova de Poiares é uma vila portuguesa do distrito de Coimbra.
Situada bem no centro do distrito, Vila Nova de Poiares é verdadeiramente fronteira entre o litoral e o interior do país, num equilíbrio perfeito entre o desenvolvimento do litoral e a qualidade de vida do interior. Ao longo das quatro freguesias do concelho, podemos encontrar paisagens naturais de ‘prender a respiração’, mas também uma gastronomia de excelência, um artesanato rico em tradições, mas também de condições ímpares para o desenvolvimento económico, com um dos maiores parques industriais da região, que é o habitat perfeito para o nascimento de projetos de inovação e empreendedorismo.
A Chanfana que vai à mesa ainda a fumegar é a preservação das mais genuínas receitas, como que um segredo bem guardado para o prazer dessa tradição. Descobrir sabores passa também por experimentar o arroz de bucho de Poiares ou os negalhos, e os “Poiaritos”, servidos para adoçar o final da refeição.

Holiday home Africa is located in the Casa Maior, the main building of the Termas. The former thermal baths Termas de Azenha are located on the edge of the river Pranto which ends in the Mondego, just outside the village Pedrogão do Pranto.
There are 2 holiday homes located in the former bathing house, 2 studios in a separate building above the former bar, or in one of the connected 'Caribic Houses' located on a hill with views on the Termas and the surrounding rice fields. All the holiday homes look out onto the Pranto valley.
This accommodation has 2 bedrooms suitable for 4 people. When you walk into the corridor, you will see the bedrooms on your left and on the right is the living room with the Klee mosaic and hearth (gas), the kitchen/dining room and the bathroom. The holiday home's entrance is via outside stairs to the side of the main building.
Internet access (WiFi) is available. Communal washing machine and garden with garden furniture and swimming pool (opened from May up to and including Oct) are also accessible.
The proximity of the Atlantic coast with a beach resort like Figueira da Foz (9.3 miles) and the quiet beaches of Lavos and Leirosa make the location ideal for sun and beach lovers.
Those who come to Portugal for the culture will find the old university town of Coimbra which is less than 24.9 miles away. The excavations of the former Roman town of Conimbriga are less than 15.5 miles away and the pilgrimage destination of Fatima, the monastery of Batalha and the spa resorts Curia and Luso are less than an hour's drive away.
Atypical Hiking in Portugal and Exploring Central Portuguese Towns
Hiking in Portugal can be very fun. There are some fantastic places to hike in the Central Region of Portugal. The Coimbra Region is much more than the city of Coimbra.
However from Coimbra you can find some Hiking trails nearby. A quick 30 minute drive south is Casmilo. There are some trails here with some caves. These areas are a fantastic spot to explore.
Also there are some hills nearby in Soure where there are some windmills. It is a bit windy up here so I would suggest bringing a windbreaker.
Last stop was in Ança. This spot actually is 10 minutes west of Coimbra. While my friends told me these were cakes... it tasted like bread. One was similar to Hawaiian rolls in flavor and the other had a hint of cinnamon. Both were very tasty with a a bit of butter.

*A Universidade de Coimbra*
Fundada em 1290 em Lisboa, foi transferida para Coimbra em 1537. É uma das mais antigas da Europa e é considerada Património Mundial da Humanidade pela Unesco
*O Paço das Escolas*
É a parte mais antiga da Universidade, com a Biblioteca Joanina, a Capela de São Miguel, o Palácio Real e o Laboratório Chimico, pertencente ao Museu da Ciência.
*A Catedral de Santa Maria de Coimbra*
Conhecida como Sé Velha de Coimbra, está localizada na freguesia de Almedina.
Foi construída no século, após a batalha de Ourique, com Afonso Henriques se declarando rei de Portugal e escolhendo Coimbra como capital do reino. Ela constitui um dos edifícios em estilo românico mais importantes do país.
Na Sé Velha está sepultado D. Sesnando, conde de Coimbra.
*Colégio das Onze Mil Virgens*
Conhecido hoje como Sé Nova de Coimbra
Juntamente com a Sé Velha de Coimbra, constitui a sede da Diocese de Coimbra.
Começou a ser construído em 1598 pela Companhia de Jesus. A igreja foi inaugurada apenas em 1698. Os jesuítas ocuparam o local até 1759, quando os jesuítas foram banidos de Portugal pelo Marquês de Pombal. Em 1772 a sede episcopal foi transferida da Igreja de Santa Maria( Sé Velha) para cá.
*Arco de Barbacã*
Um arco gótico erguido no século XV. No alto é possível ver o escudo do Rei D. Manuel I.
*Arco da Almedina*
Foi construída no século XII e era a entrada principal da cidade intra-muros.

O distrito de Coimbra é, imitado a norte pelos distritos de Aveiro e Viseu, a leste com os distritos da Guarda e Castelo Branco, a sul com o de Leiria e a oeste com o oceano Atlântico.
O distrito de Coimbra subdivide-se em dezassete municípios:
Arganil, Cantanhede, Coimbra, Condeixa-a-Nova,
Figueira da Foz, Góis, Lousã, Mira, Miranda do Corvo
Montemor-o-Velho, Oliveira do Hospital, Pampilhosa da Serra,
Penacova, Penela, Soure, Tábua, Vila Nova de Poiares.
A Capital do distrito é Coimbra.
