Magical Lake Atitlan Guatemala Travel Guide 4K

In this Lake Atitlan travel guide we explore 5 villages around the lake. Including Santiago De Atitlan, San Juan La Laguna, Santa Catarina, San Antonio Palopo and Panajachel. I would say this is the best place to visit in Guatemala because there are many villages to explore around the lake and culture to explore. But best of all is probably going to be the incredible natural beauty and scenery of the lake Atitlan.

There are a few towns around the lake also worth mentioning but we did not go. Such as San Marcos, which is popular with new age explorers, San Pedro La Laguna with foreign tourist and San Lucas for its proximity outside of the lake region to the Pacific Ocean. Our travel guide is from Santa Cruz La Laguna and says that one is the best. If you can get around to many of the towns and villages you will certainly feel culturally enriched and as if you really met the Mayan people.

BEST Things to do in Lake Atitlan, Guatemala!

This travel vlog is about a weekend trip we took from Antigua, Guatemala to Lake Atitlan - which people in Guatemala call the most beautiful lake in the world. While a part of our itinerary was affected by rain, this vlog shows you an effective way to see the best parts of Lake Atitlan within a weekend
We made our way to visit three of the most popular towns in Lake Atitlan - San Marcos, San Pedro and Panajachel.
We started off with cliff jumping in San Marcos and then made our way to San Pedro on a boat. We had our accommodation in San Pedro. We found some very delicious restaurants in this town.
The next day, we hiked the Indian Nose (or Rostro Maya) with a tour company that charged us $10. This hike started at 4am and the whole trip lasted 4 hours (the hike was only 40 minutes up). This was one of those hikes that we will remember for a lifetime because of how beautiful the sunrise was over Lake Atitlan. This is a must visit for anyone coming to Lake Atitlan.
Next we were about to paddleboard in San Pedro but it started raining heavily so we just decided to make our way to Panajachel to check out the local markets. The markets of Panajachel weren't as special as we were expecting it to be.

You won't believe the beauty of Lake Atitlan, Guatemala ????????

OUR GUATEMALA TRIP
We are spending 8 months in Guatemala, the country where Giorgio was born. We explore the most beautiful places and experience local culture, traditions and food. Except for traveling in Guatemala, we are also volunteering in an ecological hotel, called Finca Ixobel, in the jungle of Petén.

Welcome to our Dreamy Travel Story channel!

We're Marion & Giorgio, a travel couple who are travelling the world since we met in late 2016. Giorgio is born in Guatemala and raised in Italy, and Marion is from Sweden.
A Mayan and a Viking exploring dreamy parts of the world!

We love creating chapters in our Dreamy Travel Story featuring places off the beaten path, hidden gems, local culture, beautiful places, street art, trying delicious street food, drinking coffee in cute cafes, visiting live jazz bars and art museums, vintage shopping, going on road trips with our motorbike and old Beetle, dancing in rock clubs, taking photos with our old cameras, and everything else that is colourful and dreamy.

We really enjoy making travel videos, travel vlogs, drone videos and cinematic videos.

We are happy if you want to follow along with us on our Dreamy Travel Story!

The Journey: San Fran to Solola

- Come with me on my latest adventure as I make the leap from San Francisco, California to Solola, Guatemala where I will begin working with Kiva for the next few months.

Solola's Market - Lake Atitlan, Guatemala

DBH Unplugged heads from Guatemala City to Lake Atitlan, a three hour drive west into the Guatemalan highlands. Before reaching the Lake, David and crew stop in the town of Solola, which at 600 meters high, is one of the highest towns surrounding the lake. Here David tours the quaint town, clock tower and city hall, and its central market- selling everything from traditional Mayan clothing to delicious street food. Check it out as David tries some tortillas, tamales wrapped in banana leaf, and Sapote- a fresh, soft, local fruit. With great views of the lake and Atitlan Volcano in the background, it's a wonderful stop when on the way to the Lake. For everything you need to know about visiting the town and lake area, check out the DBH Guide: Guatemala, also available for your Kindle.
