It has the most populous urban area in Sweden as well as in Scandinavia. 1 million people live in the municipality, approximately 1.6 million in the urban area, and 2.4 million in the metropolitan area. The city stretches across fourteen islands where Lake Mälaren flows into the Baltic Sea. Outside the city to the east, and along the coast, is the island chain of the Stockholm archipelago. Top 10 WINTER Things To Do in Stockholm | December to March
Stockholm is a beautiful city in the summer, but many people want to experience it in winter as well. What is there to do in Stockholm in winter?
In this video I present the top 10 things to do if you're visiting Stockholm between December and March. Snow is not guaranteed, but it will definitely be cold, so make sure you dress appropriately for the season!
The things listed, including the various places I mention, are the following:
- Ice skating in Kungsträdgården, a very centrally located park
- Skiing at Hammarbybacken, which you can reach by tram from Gullmarsplan
- Check out the viewpoint at Monteliusvägen, on Södermalm. You can walk there from Slussen. Also, I mention Skinnarviksberget - it lies a 10 minute walk to the west of Monteliusvägen
- Rent a sauna and take an icy plunge at Hellasgården. Website:
- Winter kayaking at Vaxholm. Website:
- Walk in one of the many parks in Stockholm. This video shows you clips from Rålambshovsparken and Kronobergsparken, and I mention Vasaparken, Humlegården, Tantolunden and Royal Djurgården as well
- Swedish fika is a great thing on a cold winter's day! Especially if you're here around semla season. I'm showing you the centrally located cafe Vete-Katten. Website:
- Warming up at a spa is highly recommended. The places I mention include Centralbadet, The Nest, Selma City Spa and Yasuragi
- A tour to the archipelago in winter. The two biggest boat companies are Waxholmsbolaget ( and Strömma (
- Finally, I of course have to recommend visiting Stockholm around Christmas time! In the video I mention Christmas markets at Gamla stan and Skansen, as well as animatronic displays outside of the NK shopping centre. Edsviken is an elongated, narrow inlet of the Baltic Sea running through the Swedish municipalities of Danderyd, Solna, and Sollentuna in Stockholm County. Edsviken ranges from Stocksund and Bergshamra, Solna in the south to Edsberg in the north.
The inlet is about 7.7 km long with an area of approximately 3.6 km2. It has a maximum depth of around 20 m. Edsviken joins the Stocksundet at Bergshamra and eventually flows into the Lilla Värtan.
Edsviken is a popular waterway, it is used by anglers, boat owners, and bathers in the summer and ice skaters in the winter.
With its brackish water, the Edsviken offers a unique environment for its flora and fauna. Various coastal and wetland plants grow around the Edsviken, including water forget-me-not (a rare plant in Sweden), Bolboschoenus maritimus, and seaweed. The Eurasian oystercatcher and the barnacle goose both nest on the Edsviken, which also has a wide variety of fish species, including perch, bream, pike, ruffe, zander, and the occasional herring.
The Edsviken's waterside is partially developed. Waterfront buildings include the Danderyds sjukhus, Ulriksdal Palace, the Sollentuna hill fort, Edsbergs Castle, Kevinge gård and Stockholm golf club. The southwestern portion forms part of the Royal National City Park.

Edsberg is an urban district in Sollentuna Municipality, Stockholm County, Sweden. It is located at the bottom of the Edsviken Bay, which forms a long inlet all the way from the Baltic Sea. It forms part of Stockholm. 20 minutes of drive from Stockholm City and a good connection of commuter trains and busses.

A great day for a walk in my hometown Sollentuna. I started at Häggvik station and made my way to Tureberg.
Sollentuna Municipality (Sollentuna kommun [ˈsɔ̂lːɛnˌtʉːna kʊˈmʉːn] (listen))[3] is a municipality in Stockholm County in east central Sweden, north of Stockholm. Its seat of local government is located in Tureberg, which is a part of the Upplands Väsby urban area.

Stockholm is the capital of Sweden. It has the most populous urban area in Sweden as well as in Scandinavia. 1 million people live in the municipality, approximately 1.6 million in the urban area, and 2.4 million in the metropolitan area. The city stretches across fourteen islands where Lake Mälaren flows into the Baltic Sea. Outside the city to the east, and along the coast, is the island chain of the Stockholm archipelago. The area has been settled since the Stone Age, in the 6th millennium BC, and was founded as a city in 1252 by Swedish statesman Birger Jarl. It is also the county seat of Stockholm County.

Stockholm spring - Sunny day at Edsbergs Castle #68
Today we are in the wonderful Sollentuna, about 10km outside the city centre of Stockholm. I walked from Tureberg to Edsbergs slott (castle). The views are absolutely amazing.
Edsbergs slott (Edsberg Manor) is a manor house and estate located by the bay of Edsviken in Sollentuna Municipality, north of Stockholm, Sweden.
Edsberg Castle is the cultural-historical heart of Sollentuna. It was built in 1760, but some parts are older than that. The basement is from the 17th century when a wooden palace stood here. The house has about 46 rooms and a kitchen. The castle is open Wednesdays and Sundays at 12.00 - 16.00.

Stockholm Central Station is biggest in Sweden. Nice place to visit and a transport hub also.
Amazing architecture. One can keep looking at the central hall and appreciate the design for as long as possible. Not to mention the dungeon like designs in the bottom level metro stations. Those are amazing as well.

I am in Landskrona , in the South of Sweden where saw this wonderful pier and offcourse I had to go for a little walk!
Landskrona (old Danish: Landskrone) is a town in Scania, Sweden. Located on the shores of the Öresund, it possesses an excellent natural port, which has lent the town first military and then commercial significance. Ferries operate from Lankdskrona to the island of Ven, and for many years there was also a connection to Copenhagen.
