One of East Africa's busiest ports, Dar es Salaam is Tanzania's largest city and commercial center.
A lively waterfront city that blends African, Indian and Arab influences to create a unique urban culture, Dar has sprawled chaotically in all directions in recent decades, but still has plenty of charm.

Inside the streets of East Africa's Largest City|Dar es Salaam, Tanzania ????????

Today we head into the streets to explore Dar es Salaam and get a feel for what this place is like. When we arrived we started out by trying a local restaurant before heading down to the markets to explore. There we decided to purchase some football (soccer) jerseys that added a lot of energy to the video with opposing teams yelling as we went through the streets. In this video, I am with @harryjaggardtravel, the Don Rob, and Malak al Lebnen: Fouad.

Shopping at the Local Market and Exploring Bagamoyo | TANZANIA

Hi, my name is Türkü Ekin. I am backpacking around Tanzania with my mom.

This week, we first go to the local market in Dar Es Salaam, then go to Bagamoyo district, which plays a significant role in Tanzania's history.

We continue to explore Tanzania with my mother. We buy Dera, the local African outfit for ourselves from the market. We try the soup that Tanzanians drink for breakfast. We visit the town of Bagamoyo and learn about slavery in Tanzanian history.

The town of Bagamoyo served as the capital city of Germany's Colonial Rule in East Africa in the 19th century. The town was also one of the most important trading ports on East African along the Indian Ocean.

Slave trade in East Africa was officially prohibited in the year 1873 but continued surreptitiously to the end of the 19th century.

Bagamoyo is a ‘’place of memory’’ for human suffering and humiliation caused by Slavery and the Slave trade and the imposition of European colonialism.
