INCREDIBLE 24 Hours in the Sahara Desert - Merzouga, Morocco
We just made it into the Sahara Desert in Morocco! In our last episode, we left Fez and drove for 9 hours to Merzouga. The drive was actually a lot of fun because we got to see so much of the diverse Moroccan countryside. We made it to our camp just in time for an incredible sunset! In this episode, we are learning about the nomadic way of life, dancing in the desert, and ending the day riding camels through the Sahara.

Three months after we drove the motorcycles to Dakhla, we continued our journey in the desert of Morocco/Western Sahara. We had heard many nightmare stories about the border of Mauritania ahead (it was supposed to be the most dangerous border in the world with a lawless No Man's land with landmines and small sandy tracks). But our first obstacle when returning to Dakhla was to find a motorcycle garage for changing the tires of our bikes before we could enjoy the oasis of Dakhla for Kitesurfing. A little break before we really started our adventure ride south through the desert on the westcoast of Africa. On the way through Morocco/ Western Sahara we came across many checkpoints, beautiful dunes and amazing landscapes before we finally hit the border of Mauritania...

As viewed from above, the northern coast of Agadir is outlined by beautiful beaches and picturesque fishing villages like Taghazout. Once on the bay of Agadir, there are many seafront hotels that welcome, all year round, an international clientèle in search of beaches and sun. The southern coast of Agadir is a cascade of beaches and cliffs that plunge into the Atlantic Ocean. Due to rock erosion, the arch of Legzira is a natural curiosity not to be missed while the desert amateurs will find breathtaking lunar landscapes in the last escarpments of the Anti-Atlas. Inland, a stop at the Amtoudi oasis is a must: this small town in the middle of hamadas, green with palm trees, has one of the best preserved agadirs, a fortified granary, in Morocco. My vacations in Morocco: the desert, a unique experience
Contrary to popular belief, there is not one but several deserts in Morocco! The Regs and the Hamadas, both rocky, are breathtaking with their lunar landscape. One of the most famous deserts is the Agafay desert near Marrakesh. But the most typical that we associate with Morocco are the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi and Erg Chegaga, both located in the Sahara. On camel back, you can ride the fine sand dunes that can reach up to 170 meters high. Sandboarding is safely practiced here. Fun guaranteed! From sunrise to sunset, everything here is conducive to meditation and in the evening, under the starry sky, you can perceive the immensity of the world. Moments of pure poetry.

Tighmert était un magnifique escale durant notre voyage dans le sud du Maroc.
on a logé dans la maison des nomades une maison d'hôte écologique qui propose la restauration , le logement et les excursions.
Les responsables sont très sympa et l'emplacement de la maison d'hôte est encore plus super (verdure, l'authenticité et l'air pur)
On a assisté à un muséum de Fantasia des chevaux très authentique et magnifique.
Excellent escale à recommander et à faire.
