Hagåtña
and in Spanish Agaña, is the capital city[3] of the United States territory of Guam. From the 18th through mid-20th century, it was Guam's population center, but today it is the second smallest of the island's 19 villages in both area and population. However, it remains one of the island's major commercial districts in addition to being the seat of government.
Hagåtña is located at the mouth of the Hagåtña River on Guam's west coast. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1 square mile (2.6 km²). The village is bounded by the sandy beaches of Agana Bay to the north, the Agana River and associated wetlands to the east, and a cliff (above which is the village of Agana Heights) to the South. Several high-rise office buildings are in the center of the village, while the western portion of the city known as Anigua is more residential. Unlike many villages, central Hagåtña is divided into city blocks with shops and small restaurants throughout the center of the village. Highly populated residential areas in the villages of Mongmong-Toto-Maite, Sinajana, and Agana Heights surround Hagåtña.

When I visited my island, my friends and I stayed at the Onward Beach Resort and just waking up to this in the morning makes me miss Guam so much.
The Valley of the Latte Adventure Park, Talofofo, Guam. Guam's 76th Liberation Day Celebration
The Valley of the Latte, nestled on the banks of the Talofofo River, represents thousands of years of Chamorro culture and history. The first signs of life have been carbon dated back to 206 BC. Fast-forward to 1944, a young soldier from the Japanese Imperial Army, Soichi Yokoi. Instead of surrendering to American Liberation Forces landing on Guam, he and two of his comrades sought refuge in the Talofofo and Bubulao Valley until their mother country would come and rescue them.
28 years later in 1972 Talofofo Residents Jose Duenas and Manuel Degracia capture one of the last surviving Japanese stragglers Soichi Yokoi and bring him to the Surfside Cafe for interrogation, the present day Valley of the Latte Giftshop.
The repatriation of Yokoi to his home country of Japan was a historic milestone for the island in connection to World War II.
Today, 76 years after the Liberation of Guam, the Talofofo River Valley, has become the iconic location where CHamoru culture and history is brought to life every single day and shared with visitors from Yigo to Japan, California to Korea, and many more throughout the world.
We strive to be the place chosen by the people of Guam to celebrate our culture and share the beauty of our island with all that visit.
We are honored to have our cultural practitioners share and celebrate with us on the land where our ancestors lived and flourished.
We are also honored to have our I Tao Tao Ta, our Military Brothers and Sisters, and all our International Guests share with us in the celebration of our 76th Liberation at the Valley of the Latte.
We have endured a World War and we are now faced with another global challenge wreaking havoc on our people. But we are strong and resilient and will overcome once more, all the challenges placed before us.
We are proud to be a part of the Talofofo and Southern Guam community.

My name is Mark Chargualaf. I am in the Guam History HI-211-04 class. This video is what I took on my hike to pagat cave. I went with my friends and classmates and they had to do the same project. The hike to the caves was pretty long and downhill. It was a good thing that it didn't rain. We went around 10: 30 a.m. and we finished at like around 1. So we went during the hottest part of the day. When we arrived at the cave site, we set down our things and we descended into the cave. It was very dark and we only had one flashlight. There was two parts to the cave. There was an area that you first go into and when you go in the water to a narrow passage it takes you to another open area. This area was bigger and the water was deep enough to where you can swim. At first it is a bit scary but after awhile, you get used to the environment. So we hung out in the cave and explored it and it was very interesting. After we came out of the caves, we hiked around the jungles. We eventually stumbled upon an ancient village. It had (supposed) latte stones, grinding stones, etc. That too was an amazing experience. Then we went further, until we reached the ocean. We were on top of a cliff and we could see the waves splashing the rocks and it would form a mist that would reach us. We could see the horizon and the surrounding land. One word that describes the scenery was BEAUTIFUL. All-in-all the hike was wonderful except for the trek back up which was way harder and more tiring then the trek going down. Nevertheless, it was a great and fulfilling experince and I recommend that everyone go but only when it is not raining.

Pale Dan's Funeral
The Catholic Church of Guam bid farewell to Fr. Daniel Cristobal, Cap. on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at the St. Jude Catholic Church in Sinajana. Pale Dan served as a priest for 51 years on Guam and Saipan. He is the second Chamorro Capuchin priest to enter eternal life. Among the many accomplishments as a priest, he chaired the committee which organized church preps for the one and only time the late Pope JP II visited Guam in 1981.
