Top 10 SWISS Villages 2022 – Most beautiful Towns in SWITZERLAND – Best Places [Travel Guide]

Switzerland charms with the amazing Alps but… also with its many wonderful VILLAGES. Switzerland has been attracting so many tourists from all over the world, who seek to go for hiking, climbing mountains, refueling themselves at the many lakes and for many other reasons. A major reason, why many tourists come to Switzerland have always been the many well preserved villages. Despite the small size of Switzerland, this country is full of such villages… but even more fascinating is the diversity among them! In this video, the Top 10 MOST BEAUTIFUL Villages of Switzerland for the Year 2022 will be presented in detail. While you may be familiar with some villages on this list, I am sure, there will be many villages you might never have heard of. This is likely the most detailed travel guide video about Swiss villages here on YouTube! Visit Romainmôtier in the Jura Vaudois; a wonderful historic village. Romainmôtier is hosting a beautiful abbey with the oldest romanesque church of Switzerland. Explore the nearby attractions around Romainmôtier: cascade de nozon, caves at Vallorbe or de Tine de Conflens. Very enjoyable is also Diessenhofen. It's the non-touristy alternative to the more known village of Stein am Rhein. Diessenhofen is located at the shore of the river Rhine. A wonderful Swiss village with a beautiful wooden bridge and great vibes. BAUEN is the hidden gem Swiss village on this list! It's located at Lake Lucerne (Vierwaldstättersee) and charms with its warm climate. Bauen is full of palm trees and beautiful houses. Bauen is furthermore the home town of the composer of the Swiss national anthem. Visit La Neuveville in the canton of Berne in the Jura 3 lakes region. It's an old town with many beautiful houses. In La Neuveville, you may experience medieval vibes. SCHWELLBRUNN in Appenzell is a very cultural place. It was awarded the most beautiful village of Switzerland in 2017. Schwellbrunn is great to visit during Winter and Summer. In September, they host a cow show, a typical Swiss tradition. Do not forget to visit Schwellbrunn on 31st of December: During the early morning there will be Silvesterklausen. Foroglio is a small Swiss village in Ticino. Foroglio is very attractive with its large waterfall and the many traditional stone houses. Visit Foroglio when you come to the Val Bavona and also proceed to Sonlerto; the non-touristy alternative. Both traditional villages are stunning to visit! Soglio is another village that is less-visited. It’s located in Eastern Switzerland, in the Italian speaking part of Graubünden. Soglio is a very calm and quiet village at where you may enjoy many great views over the Swiss Alps as well as hiking trails. Grimentz, my favorite Swiss village is what I consider the perfectly stereotypically Swiss village you could visit! Grimentz is full of traditional wooden houses that are all decorated with beautiful flowers. There is a very nice creek passing through the village, a great photo spot. Grimentz is a must visit for anyone who loves to visit villages! MORCOTE has been awarded as the Top most beautiful village of Switzerland in 2016. It’s located in Ticino at Lake Lugano. Morcote is built at a hill; enjoy the promenade along the lake or hiking up to the church or even higher. The view down to the village of Morcote is stunning. A great place to not miss out! ISELTWALD is the most beautiful Swiss Village on this Top 10 list. The village is located in the Berner Oberland at Lake Brienz. Iseltwald is full of beautiful houses concentrating around the bay. Walk along the promenade or pier or enjoy the castle of Iseltwald. Iseltwald is great to reach by boat from Interlaken or Brienz. Stay at Iseltwald to enjoy serenity and experience one of the most authentic Swiss villages! Watch the FULL Video in 4K!

Top 5 SKI RESORTS in SWITZERLAND - [Detailed Guide]

Switzerland is one of the best destinations for Winter sports, especially for skiing! The Swiss Alps are full of fantastic ski resorts. Among the many, I present you Top 5 that I consider belonging to the best ski resorts of Switzerland.
The SILVRETTA ARENA at Samnaun is one that is often overlooked, while you actually should eye at it as it is one of the very best in all of Switzerland! The Silvretta Arena is a binational ski resort that allows you to switch between Switzerland and Austria. It’s very snow sure, as most of the slopes are above 2000 meters! You will have many slopes and lifts to choose, thus, much to explore. It’s best to stay here for at least 3-5 days! Samnaun is by the way easier to be reached from the Austrian side. Explore the village of Samnaun too! It’s a beautiful Swiss Winter village and also great for shopping, since it’s entirely duty-free.
The ALETSCH ARENA is located in the canton of Valais and offers you fantastic panoramas over the Swiss Alps, including the Aletsch Glacier and the iconic Matterhorn. There are three stations: Fiescheralp, Bettmeralp and Riederalp. The resort is very sunny but at the same time snow sure! Great slopes are from the Bettmerhorn down to Bettmeralp or then at Schönbiel, Riederfurka or Flesch. Bettmeralp is one of the most beautiful Winter villages of Switzerland, do walk around, especially during sunset and dusk! The best way to arrive there is by train; it stops directly at the cabin station down in Betten. It is recommended to stay at the Aletsch Arena for at least 3 days.
The PORTES DU SOLEIL is at where you can travel on ski! It’s so large that you would need more than 10 days to explore all of it. The major station on the Swiss side is at Les Crosets, at where you have numerous lifts and slopes to try out. Very nice is the Grand tour starting from Morgins heading to Champoussin, Les Crosets, Avoriaz, Châtel and then again reaching back at Morgins. Try out the probably steepest slope in the entire world: The Swiss wall. It has an incline of over 90%! Due to the incredibly large size of this ski resort it is recommended to stay here for around 5 to 7 days.
FLUMSERBERG is the perfect ski resort for one-day trips. It is easily reached by car or train from most of the regions of Switzerland. The resort is quite small but offers you many slopes. Very nice are the pine tree forest back to Tannenboden, the slope down from the Leist to Panüöl and the witch forest “Häxäwäldli”. The main peak of Flumserberg is the Maschgenkamm from where you can access most of the other parts of the resort. The perfect length of stay is 2 days; stay overnight at Tannenboden and enjoy a marvellous sunrise!
SAAS-FEE/SAASTAL is the most snow sure ski resort due to its high elevation and limited exposure. Most of the upper parts are up on the glacier, which is a very unique experience. The best peaks to visit are the Mittelallalin and Hohsaas. The major asset of this ski resort are the very long slopes; it will take you 20-30 minutes to ski down from the Mittelallalin to the village of Saas-Fee. The sunniest site of this ski resort is at Saas-Grund. Very underrated but actually perfect for skiing and less busy! The village of Saas-Fee is also suitable for non-skiers and families to visit; especially since it is car-free. In that case, consider going up for lunch at the Mittelallalin at the revolving restaurant and then explore the ice pavilion inside the glacier.
A great hotel is the Capra (sponsored content). A fantastic 5-Star Hotel that offers brilliant service and hospitality. The rooms are very cozy, the food delicious and the spa perfect for relaxation!

Canton of Valais / Wallis
It is one of the 26 cantons forming the Swiss Confederation. It is composed of thirteen districts and its capital and largest city is Sion. The flag of the canton is made of thirteen stars representing the districts, on a white-red background. Valais is situated in the southwestern part of the country. It borders the cantons of Vaud and Bern to the north, the cantons of Uri and Ticino to the east, as well as Italy to the south and France to the west. It is one of the three large southern Alpine cantons, along with Ticino and the Grisons. It is a bilingual canton, French and German being its two official languages. Traditionally, the canton is divided into Lower, Central and Upper Valais, the latter region constituting the German-speaking minority. Valais essentially coincides with the valley of the Rhône from its headwaters to Lake Geneva, separating the Pennine Alps from the Bernese Alps. A major wine region, the canton is simultaneously one of the driest regions of Switzerland in its central Rhône valley and among the wettest, having large amounts of snow and rain up on the highest peaks found in Switzerland, such as Monte Rosa and the Finsteraarhorn.

Crans-Montana
It is a municipality in the district of Sierre in the canton of Valais, Switzerland. On 1 January 2017 the former municipalities of Chermignon, Mollens, Montana and Randogne merged to form the new municipality of Crans-Montana. Crans-Montana is also a ski resort that was created through the fusion of the two centers of Crans and Montana and belonged to six municipalities (Chermignon, Icogne, Lens, Mollens, Montana and Randogne), four of which merged to form the municipality of Crans-Montana.
The resort is located in the heart of the Swiss Alps in the French-speaking part of the canton of Valais. It is located on a plateau above Sierre at an elevation of about 1,500 m (4,920 ft) above sea level, allowing good view over the Valais Alps and Weisshorn in particular.
The area hosts the winter mountain pop rock festival, the Caprices Festival, and a professional golf tournament, the European Tour's Omega European Masters, which takes place each September. The area has also been frequently used for bicycle racing, hosting stage finishes of the Tour de Suisse seven times and of the Tour de Romandie eight times as of 2013. In addition Crans-Montana also hosted the finish of the 20th stage of the 1984 Tour de France, won by Laurent Fignon, who also took the overall race win that year.

Sierre
It is the capital of the district of Sierre in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. It has a population of 16,332. Sierre is nicknamed City of the Sun (French: Cité du Soleil) for its average of 300 days of sunshine a year. It is the last official French speaking city in Valais before the French–German language border of the canton located at the forêt de Finges, few kilometres after the town. A German-speaking minority lives in Sierre, as it counts around 8% of the population. Sierre is first mentioned about 800 as Sidrium, though a 12th-century document refers to the village being founded in 515. In 1179 it was mentioned as Sirro and in 1393 as Syder.
At the beginning of the 20th century, Sierre became economically important as very early aluminium smelting is enabled by its access to hydroelectricity. Today the aluminium industry Novelis and Alcan employs 1,200 workers in Chippis and Sierre. In 2007, the agglomeration of Sierre/Crans-Montana was formed to address created to common problems, especially in the fields of tourism and transportation.

Leuk
Leuk (French: Loèche-Ville) is a municipality in the district of Leuk in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. On 1 January 2013 the former municipality of Erschmatt merged into the municipality of Leuk. Since it controls access to the Gemmi Pass, it had some importance from the time of Roman Raetia. The Leukerbad thermal baths are just north of Leuk, towards the pass. It is the capital of the Leuk district of the Valais.

Visp
(French: Viège) is the capital of the district of Visp in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. It lies in the Rhône valley, at the confluence of the Vispa and the Rhône, 9 km (6 mi) west of Brig-Glis.

Stalden
It is a municipality in the district of Visp in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. It lies at the foot of the Mischabelhörner and Dom (4,545 m [14,911 ft]). Stalden has an area, as of 2011, of 10.5 square kilometers (4.1 sq mi). Of this area, 10.0% is used for agricultural purposes, while 71.9% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 6.4% is settled (buildings or roads) and 11.7% is unproductive land. The municipality is located in the Visp district, at the branching of the Matter and Saas valleys. It consists of three formerly independent villages Stalden Dorfmark, Chinegga (since 1805) and Niederrusen (since 1817, now called Neubrück). Being well within the Alps, the region of Stalden is notably the driest location in Valais and Switzerland, with 545 mm of rainfall per year measured at the Ackersand meteorological station.[5] In comparison, Locarno (south side of the Alps) receives 1897 mm of rain per year.

Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club
It is one of the oldest golf courses in Switzerland and is located in Crans-Montana in the Valais Alps at an altitude of 1500 meters. The Golf-Club Crans-sur-Sierre has four courses, one designed by Seve Ballesteros and another named after Jack Nicklaus.
In 1905, the hotelier Albert de Preux and the British businessman Henry Lunn took over a bankrupt clinic in Crans and converted it into a luxury hotel. In order to meet the demands of British tourists, a golf course was commissioned from the British Freemantle and Gedge. In the following year the first nine holes opened, the second nine were completed in 1908.
For the local population, the golf course proved to be a real economic factor within the general tourist boom. Before that, the population lived exclusively on agriculture and in relative poverty. Renting out the fields for the purpose of playing golf was much more lucrative than laboriously cultivating them. In addition, the young men could hire themselves as caddies , which soon became a tradition in Crans.
In addition, the Swiss Open took place in Crans-Montana for the first time in 1939 and after an interruption due to the war it was resumed there in 1948 and has since taken place every year in September, now under the name Omega European Masters .

Omega European Masters
It is the Swiss stop on professional men's golf's European Tour, and in 2009 it became the first event in Europe to be co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour. Founded as the Swiss Open in 1923, the tournament was prefixed with European Masters in 1983, before dropping Swiss Open from the title in 1992. The tournament has been held at the Golf-Club Crans-sur-Sierre at Crans-Montana in Valais since 1939, and is currently played in early September each year.
