BEST LECHON in Manila + Food Market HUNT | Where to eat in Manila!

G'day! Welcome back, today we are on the hunt for some of the best street foods here in Manila Legazpi Sunday Market, we also try the Famous Lechon! One of the most well-liked foods in the Philippines is Lechon, which is derived from a Spanish phrase for roasted suckling pig. Typically packed with lemongrass, tamarind, garlic, onions, and chives, the slow-roasted suckling pig is then cooked over an open flame on a long bamboo spit. Lechon from the Philippines is distinguished by its skin in contrast to other roast pig dishes from other cultures. The skin of a flawless Lechon is smooth and shiny throughout cooking. The greatest ones have skin that lasts for several hours without becoming soft and is always hard and crunchy. Spanish Lechon or Lechon from Spain has a similar cooking method however they use baby 6-week pigs rather than a massive pig like this one.

Inihaw na Pusit, or grilled squid, is a popular food to eat in the Philippines. The Inihaw na Pusit is stuffed with tomatoes and onions, then grilled over massive flames, making for a tasty grilled squid.

We hope you enjoy this Philippines night market tour, tasting some crazy Filipino street foods in Tondo, Manila, like the tumbong soup and grilled squid. Stay tuned next week for more Filipino street food adventures!

???? WATCH Ultimate Street Food Tour in Davao City Philippines:

Zamboangan cuisine is very unique compared to the rest of the food in the Philippines. We started our Zamboanga City street food tour trying out some Moro cuisine, local to the area. We continued our Zamboanga City street food tour heading to a coffee shop to try the popular local coffee. The local Filipino foods they serve here went perfectly with the coffee on our Filipino food tour. Tasty, flavourful and oh so yummy, this was a great meal.

One of the most popular Zamboanga street foods we knew we had to eat was KnickerBocker. Similar to Halo-Halo, this Zamboanga version is a can't miss street food in the city!

To finish off our Zamboanga City street food tour, we ate the most popular food in the Philippines, balut. Balut is a Filipino fertilized duck egg that is by far the most popular Filipino street food. Eating balut, Filipino duck egg, was something we’d been wanting to try since we arrived, and finally these Canadians try balut in the Philippines!

We hope you enjoy our Zamboanga City street food tour, where these Canadians try balut in the Philippines, eating Filipino duck egg. Stay tuned for more street food adventures next week!
