In today’s video, we will be talking about the 10 best places to visit in Thailand. One of the places in this video offers a perfect blend of incredible mountains and an array of historically rich architecture. Another spot has a unique National Park where you will discover some of the most stunning waterfalls like the mighty Wachirathan Waterfall. Welcome and let’s get started.
10. Bangkok, Central Thailand
Bangkok is home to stunning architecture like the gigantic Reclining Buddha at Wat Pho and the extravagant temples at the Grand Palace.
Ride the sky train with an air-conditioned carriage to get a fascinating view of the city. You can also take a boat trip down the Chao Phraya river and get to see high-rise condominiums and fancy hotels. If you have enough time, to take a trip around Chatuchak market and for a break from the hustle and bustle of the city then Lumpini park is the place to be.
While in Bangkok, don’t forget to enjoy a nice selection of cheap and delicious street food in Chinatown and also sip a drink at one of the many rooftop bars.
9. Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand
Located in the northern part of Thailand, Chiang Mai is home to many ancient structures, some of which are more than 700 years old. Explore a perfect blend of incredible mountains, and an array of historically rich architecture.
If you are interested, you can do a meditation course at Wat Doi Suthep. At your leisure, visit the elephant nature park, ride the Mae Hong Son Loop, explore the Buddhist temple, wander the Sunday walking street markets, and you can also spend some time with the A locals.
Visit the Chiang Mai women’s correctional institute to get a massage or you can get a sak yant from a monk. Don’t forget to enjoy the regional noodle dish, Khao Soi, and Sai Au, the spicy Chiang Mai sausages.

Doi Inthanon is the highest mountain in Thailand, it is 2,565 meters high. From the cooler-than-usual breeze to the early morning frost during the wintertime, this magnificent mountain is worth exploring.

The Mae Hong Son Loop is a 600 km long road that loops around the far-flung northern province of Mae Hong Son, taking you through some of the most stunning landscapes you will ever see in Thailand.

Chiang Rai is known for its work of art. It is home to one of the most intricately designed temples in the country, the White Temple. Not too far, you will also find the Wat Huay Pla Kang Chinese temple which is home to the giant Guany Yi Statue.

Sukhothai is a small town in the lower northern part of Thailand. It is the birthplace of all things traditional and there is no better place to learn about the history of the Thais than in Sukhothai.
Visit the massive Sukhothai Historical Park where you will be able to bike around the well-preserved ancient structures, Wat Maha That, the main and the largest temple complex in the park, take a day trip to Si Satchanalai and also check out Wat Sa Si.
4. Ayutthaya, Central Thailand
In Ayutthaya, you will find a ton of amazingly well-preserved ancient structures that are big and impressive. Ayutthaya became the capital city of Siam which in turn became a foundation of Thai modern history of today.
3. Kanchanaburi, Central Thailand
While you are here, relive history at the death railway bridge, visit the JEATH war museum and you can also check out the hellfire pass museum but make sure you come equipped.
Visit Wat Tham Mongkon Thong to see the floating nuns, take a trip to Sai Yok Noi waterfall, and you can also check out the Prasat Muang Singh.
2. Khao Sok Lake, Southern Thailand
Khao Sok Lake is located deep within the Ratchaprapha Dam in Surat Thani. One of the best things you can do in Khao Sok is to go on a boat tour around the lake and spend the night on one of these floating bungalows located deep inside the lake, surrounded by untouched forest, limestone mountains, and the calm and clear water of Ratchaprapha Dam.

The magnificent history of Siam began in1253 when several small kingdoms in the north of the country united and thus laid the foundation for the first true kingdom of the Thai people. Bangkok, the present metropolis and capital of Thailand, first attained importance at the end of the 18th century under the newly developed Chakri Dynasty when it became their seat of government. The epoch of the Chakri kings still exists today and although the great palace district no longer serves as the king’s residence it is still one of the most popular tourist attractions in Bangkok. Wat Suthat is located in the eastern district of old Angkok and is one of the city’s oldest temples. Construction of the temple began shortly after the coronation of the first Chakri monarch, King Rama The First. Prior to its completion during the reign of King Rama The Third, three other kings were responsible for the creation of the Buddhist sanctuary that covers an area of more than forty thousand square metres. For more than four centuries Ayutthaya was one of the most prosperous royal cities in Indo China prior to the time when the internal power struggles of various rival members of the country’s royal family led to the city’s decline. Wat Mahathat, one of the oldest sanctuaries of the ancient capital, has one of the tallest and most impressive towers in Ayutthaya. King Boromaja The Second had the temple built in honour of his two brothers who had killed each other in a bitter and bloody struggle for the royal throne. Buddhism has always played a vital role in Thailand’s history. It continues to be highly influential to the present day. The remains of the ‘Temple Of The Seven Rows Of Chedis’, the Wat Chedi Ched Thaeo, is the greatest Buddhist monastery in Si Satchanalai. Within its thirty-two stupas are the cremated remains of various members of the kings who ruled over the northern region of Siam. Even now the legendary kingdom of Siam, along with its fascinating cultural heritage, age old traditions and outstanding historic monuments, has a substantial influence in the modern Thailand of today.

You have to do this when in SUKHOTHAI - Si Satchanalai Historical Park #thailand
The large Si Satchanalai Historical Park is an attractive and fully-fledged alternative to the Sukhothai Historical Park.
This UNESCO World Heritage Site is located approximately 70 km north of Sukhothai. A small detour, but one that is more than worth it. The big difference with the Sukhothai Historical Park is that it is a lot less busy here and that most of the ruins are in a much more wooded and therefore shady area, which makes a visit on hot days a lot more pleasant.
Because we only arrived at this beautiful place late in the afternoon, we unfortunately only visited the walled part. Next time we will definitely explore the rest of the city and the ruins.
The entrance fee for the walled part was 100 bath. You can buy a combi-ticket if you also want to visit the other temples.

Sukhothai Historical Park (Thai: อุทยานประวัติศาสตร์สุโขทัย) covers the ruins of Sukhothai, literally 'dawn of happiness', capital of the Sukhothai Kingdom in the 13th and 14th centuries, in north central Thailand. It is near the city of Sukhothai, capital of Sukhothai Province.
The city's walls form a rectangle about 2 km (1.2 mi) east-west by 1.6 km (0.99 mi) north-south. There are 193 ruins on 70 km2 (27 sq mi) of land. There is a gate in the center of each wall. Inside are the remains of the royal palace and twenty-six temples, the largest being Wat Mahathat. The park is maintained by the Fine Arts Department of Thailand with help from UNESCO, which has declared it a World Heritage Site. Each year, the park welcomes thousands of visitors.
The Si Satchanalai Historical Park (Thai: อุทยานประวัติศาสตร์ศรีสัชนาลัย) is a historical park in Si Satchanalai district, Sukhothai Province, northern Thailand. Welcome to Sukhothai, the first Kingdom of Siam! Sukhothai Historical Park is located in northern Thailand about a 4-5 hour drive from Bangkok. There are over 193 ruins, a palace, many temples and the largest one being Wat Mahatat.
The best time to come is around 9am, it takes three hours to see the entire historical park. You can rent a bike, you can walk and you can pay an extra 50 baht and even bring your car. Follow me through Sukhothai!
Wat Si Chum the most visited monument in Sukhothai Historical Park.
The buddha that you see measures over 50ft in height and 30 feet wide. The name of the buddha is Phra Acana which means the one that is not afraid. The best time come is in the morning, it's an extra fee because it is outside the city walls.
If you have an extra day in Sukhothai I suggest you visit it's sister city of Si Satchanalai. It's also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. What you can visit here are over 300 ruins, buddhist shrines and temples dating back to the 13th century.
I suggest you visit the main shrine of Wat Phra Si Ratana Mahathat. It is located outside the historical park which dates back to 1237 A.D. Here you can see free standing columns and a massive buddha.

We started our month long trip in Thailand from Chiang Rai , North of Thailand and made our way down.

We yet again had an amazing time exploring Sukhothai , one of our favourite places in Thailand.
Less crowd and less popular than Ayutthaya but underrated in our opinion.

We stayed in Thai Thai Sukhothai resort which exceeded our expectations.
Massages in the comfort of your own room and the best part was it was not expensive at all.
Bicycles were available for hire from the hotel too.

Historic Town of Sukhothai - UNESCO World Heritage Site
The historic town of Sukhothai is a beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Site in Thailand. Located near the modern city of Sukhothai in northern Thailand, the ruins here are from the ancient capital of Thailand. It became the capital in the 13th century, and during the reign of King Ramkhahaeng the Great the foundations for modern Thailand were laid here: Thai script, Thai writing, and Buddhism as the official religion. There's some beautiful ruins here to see, so let's have a closer look!
