RESTAURANTS in DNIPRO, Ukraine || 15 Places in THREE MINUTES || Best Dnipro Restaurants
A heavily researched guide to the best restaurants in Dnipro, Ukraine -- but not just restaurants. We checked out 15 bars, cafes, and restaurants in Dnipro, and every single one was a hit! (By the way, these were all spread out over 5 days.)
This was actually my second time to Dnipro. I called it my 'Redemption Trip,' because the first time was an unbearably hot August several years ago. It was too difficult then to enjoy the city, but I always wanted to go back. In the end, it was the dining (Instagram) scene that made me book the tickets! I had a feeling that there was a secret restaurant renaissance going on in Dnipro, so I had to check it out. AH-MAZ-ING. Of course, you'll have more options in Kyiv or Odesa or Lviv, but the restaurants in Dnipro were phenomenal. I wouldn't be sad to go back a third time!

It's hard to choose 'the' best because people have different tastes. I rank restaurants/bars based on whether I want to go back (not just 'would' but want) -- and I want to go back to all these places! But here are my overall thoughts.
19l20's breakfast was amazing, and their cinnamon roll was divine. But my boyfriend's favorite breakfast was Padre restaurant (which I liked too, I'm just a sucker for a cinnamon). If you like croque madames, then you should definitely go to Оптимист. It was rich, but super.
BLACK SHEEP and Кастрюлька утюга варит рис both have great Asian food, though I would say Black Sheep is more casual and Kastrulka has a more upscale and unique vibe.
Рыночные Отношения is a SALT award winner, so you know they're good. More of an Americana/European feel there -- they do seafood too, but I'm not a huge seafood fan so I skipped that. Really enjoyed the tacos we had as appetizers (and a GREAT mezcal margarita). Probably the first place I'd go back to for dinner -- though MOSHE would be the first place for lunch, now that I'm thinking about that open faced sandwich again.
Old Pal Bar has next level cocktails, and the Thai inspired one I had is one of my all-time-favs in Ukraine. I could see myself going to Смена any day of the week, though. Great cocktails and such a welcoming vibe.

Things to DO in DNIPRO, UKRAINE (Hits and Misses) || Weekend in Dnipro: What to See and Do
Some of the best (and under-the-radar) things to do in Dnipro, Ukraine! From the famous Parus Hotel to a mosaic studio, we spent several days running around, seeing all that there is to see. Not every stop was a huge success, but there's definitely enough to do (and eat) to keep you busy for a weekend in Dnipro. Also, we got to see an Orthodox Easter celebration! Best time to visit Dnipro is between mid-May and August. The city's outdoor activities really kick off after the early May holidays, but it also gets *really* hot. But if you get too hot you can always jump in the river (or get a cold local beer)!

Shabo / Шабо wine (Ukraine)
(RU) Шабо — село в Белгород-Днестровском районе Одесской области. Расположено недалеко от места впадения Днестровского лимана в Чёрное море. Село известно своей винодельческой продукцией, на его территории расположена «Промышленно-торговая компания Шабо».
(EN) Shabo is a town of the Odessa Oblast, Ukraine, situated at the Dniester Liman, some 7 km downstream of Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi
The Tatar village was established ca. 1500, called Acha-abag the lower vineyards (attested 1788). The name was subsequently simplified to Shabag and finally to Shaba / Shabo. After the conquest of Bessarabia by the Russian Empire, the region suffered a population drain to the Ottoman Empire. Shabo in 1812 had been deserted by all but three or four families. Alexander I decided to re-populate the region, in 1822 inviting Swiss settlers of Vaud to cultivate the vineyards of Shabo. The descendants of these settlers inhabit Shabo to the present day, and Shabo wine remains famous for its quality.

Sa population s'élevait à 7 152 habitants en 2001.C'est vers 1500 que les Tatars y établissent un village nommé Acha-abag, qui signifie « les vignes du bas ». Le nom fut par la suite abrégé en Chabag puis finalement en Chaba / Chabo. Après la conquête de la Bessarabie par l'Empire russe, la région se dépeupla. Chabo en 1812 n'était plus habitée que par quelques familles. Le tsar Alexandre Ier décida de repeupler la région, il invita en 1822 des Suisses originaires du canton de Vaud à venir cultiver les vignes de Chabo. Ceux-ci fondèrent la colonie de Chabag et y développèrent la viticulture, si bien, que les vins de Chabo sont aujourd'hui réputés.

Шáбо — село в Белгород-Днестровском районе Одесской области.
Бывшая швейцарская колония, основанная Луи-Венсаном (Иваном Карловичем) Тарданом (1787—1836)[ в 1822 году. В Российской империи Шабо входило в состав Аккерманского уезда Бессарабской области (с 1873 года губернии).
Расположено недалеко от места впадения Днестровского лимана в Чёрное море.
Место, куда прибыли швейцарские переселенцы издревле называлось — «Аша-абаг» (тур. Aşa-abag), что по-турецки значит «Нижние сады» («садами» в то время называли виноградники, а «нижними» их именовали потому, что они располагались ниже Аккермана). Франкоязычные швейцарцы поначалу пытались сохранить историческое турецкое название, но из-за трудности произношения постепенно переделали его в «Шаба́» (Schabag, «g» в конце слова во французском не произносится), а затем окончательно переименовали в «Шабо́» на французский манер.
Первое татарское поселение на месте современного Шабо появилось около 500 лет назад. Наиболее раннее свидетельство о существовании Шабо зафиксировано в форме «Аша-абаг» в картографическом источнике 1788 года.
После вхождения Бессарабии в состав Российской империи и начала активного заселения местных земель 10 ноября 1822 года по соизволению императора Александра I было создано поселение переселенцев из швейцарского кантона Во. Вдохновитель переселения швейцарцев и основатель колонии — Луи-Венсан (Иван Карлович) Тардан.
Село известно своей винодельческой продукцией, на его территории расположено ООО «Промышленно-торговая компания Шабо».
Первые виноградные сады в этом регионе были высажены еще греками и генуэзцами в VI веке. Позже уникальные сорта винограда сюда завезли турки, основали поселение Аша-Абага. И уже «официальные» основоположники культурного виноделия в этом регионе - франкоязычные швейцарские переселенцы - называли это место Шабага, которое со временем местное население переименовало на более легкое - Шабо.
Шабо - одно из немногих мест в Европе, где лоза не пострадала от «виноградной чумы» - филлоксеры. Примечательно, что во время антиалкогольной кампании 1985 года в Шабо практически не вырубались виноградники. И в наши дни шабские вина славятся своим качеством.
В 2009 в селе открыт Центр культуры вина Шабо.

Zatoka, Ukraine (Odessa region): the most popular beach resort of the country
Zatoka – the most popular beach resort in Ukraine. In this video we will show you how the vacation in Zatoka looks like, we will make an overview of the beach, share with you what to do during the stay there, explore the history of the resort foundation and give the rate to the vacation in Zatoka.
We went to Zatoka from Kyiv by car. It took us about 530 km and 7 hours to get to the resort. We left in the morning and closer to the evening we enjoyed the seaside.
Zatoka is an urban-type settlement in Odessa region, Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi raion, 60 km away from Odessa. The town is located on a sand spit of the Dniester Estuary next to where the Dniester flows into the Black Sea.
There are a number of hypotheses for why this sea was eventually called the Black Sea. One theory is that the name “Black” was given to the sea by sailors, who observed how the sea turned black during severe storms in winter.
The main attraction of Zatoka resort is a sandy 50 m-wide and 5 km long beach. Shallow water made Zatoka a popular family resort for Ukrainians, Moldavians, Belarusians. Sometimes you can even meet a foreigner from far abroad there.
During the stay in Zatoka we recommend to visit the local aquapark, to go for a walk in Odessa (60 km from the resort), to visit Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi fortress (25 km from the resort), Vylkove (settlement, which is famous for its road absence, its numerous water canals, which the locals use for fishing of their local especially delicious Danube herring) – 167 km from the resort, and finally tasting of Shabo wines (20 km from the resort).
Also starting from 2014 a festival Jazz-Koktebel is organized here in Zatoka. This festival was in Crimea before. One more interesting festival, which is held annually in August in the nearby resort settlement Karolina-Buhaz, is a sport-musical festival called Z-Games.
All kinds of activities are available to vacationers on the beach. Children can build sand fortresses, ride a pony or water slide, observe sea inhabitants, adults can play beach soccer, volleyball, badminton, ride a banana, jet skis or motorboat, or just enjoy reading a fascinating book under the noise of sea waves.
Some come to the beach with their pets.
We love to have a vacation in Zatoka. But not only because of swimming in the sea but more because of the possibility to relax, enjoy the sea breeze, observe the sea waves and funny seagulls. It is a kind of therapy – the way to reset after a busy life in a big city.
Everyone can find a place on the beach. But we can’t tell the same about the places in hotels. It is necessary to think about accommodation in Zatoka in advance, as a lot of tourists are coming here, especially in the high season.
There are different hotels, apartments, cafes, restaurants at any taste and budget. You can also buy fresh local juicy fruits by the market.
Zatoka was called Bugaz until 1945. Locals explain that this name has a Tatar origin and in translation it means “loose sands”. In Turkic languages, this word is still used and means mouth or strait. Bugaz was founded in 1827 and at that time its history wasn’t connected with tourism. The settlement grew around the lighthouse. Step by step the settlement grew and turned into a fishing village. From the end of the 19th century, when a stay on the coast became to be considered healing, summer houses were built here. Childrens’ health sanatoriums were built here for the treatment of the respiratory system. At the end of 1950s, Zatoka began to gain popularity. The resort has become not only a place of recovery, but also a location for a beach holiday.
We have been to many beach resorts around the world and we can say that Zatoka is rather a good resort for a vacation in Ukraine. Clean long sandy beach makes this place especially attractive. And a big variety of excursion programs won’t let you get bored.
Kite flying on the beach is a separate type of activity. We really enjoyed it.
