We had 3 days in Milan so we hit the ground running and tried to see and do as much as possible. We made time for major attractions like Il Duomo, Sforza Castle, and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, but we also veered away from the crowds in search of street art and interesting neighborhoods.
This being Italy, we also tried to prioritize meals, sampling everything from pizza to risotto, and cappuccinos to aperitivos. The following travel guide will highlight 20 things to do in Milan during your visit!

Libarna was a Roman city located on the left bank of the Scrivia, on the stretch of the Via Postumia between Genoa and Dertona, near today's Libarna district of the municipality of Serravalle Scrivia, in the province of Alessandria. The excavation area owned by the Italian State, another archaeological site is also the scene of museum, musical and artistic events. In 2015, 4 568 visitors registered. Admission is free. Village founded by the Ligurians Dectunini, it could be one of the fifteen oppida that, according to Livio, surrendered to the consul Q. Minucius Rufus in 191 a.C. It is mentioned for the first time in the 2nd century BC The opening of the Postumia street in 148 BC it undoubtedly encouraged its growth, transforming Libarna into an important economic and social center. The juridical recognition of Latin citizenship was soon obtained, it was erected as a colony only later in the first century AD, when it reached its maximum splendor. From here the Via Postumia headed towards the Passo della Bocchetta. Falling into decline following the barbarian invasions, it was definitively abandoned in 452, when the inhabitants left their homes insecure, taking refuge in the surrounding hills, joining the existing communities or founding new ones, such as Precipiano, Serravalle and Arquata. Still remembered in some documents of the monastery of Precipiano (Vignole Borbera) and of the cadastre of Varinella in 1544, he lost all memory, becoming uncertain even the place of his location. Identified from the eighteenth century with various localities of the Bobbiese and Tortona, only in the nineteenth century, in correspondence of the emergence in the light of the remains, thanks to the work of Abbott Bottazzi, his historical-topographical classification was ascertained. Libarna was an autonomous capital of a vast territory that bordered to the east with Velleia, to the south with Genua, to the west with Aquae Statiellae and to the north with Derthona. Located in a particularly fertile area, the agricultural economy was founded on viticulture, arboreal crops for the exploitation of wood, livestock breeding. Among other activities we find the production of ceramics and the brick industry. Thanks to its geographical position it was also an important commercial node. Although there is no definite information on the existence of religious buildings in the city, from the votive inscriptions found it is clear that the citizens of Libarna were devoted to Jupiter, Diana, Hercules. The imperial cult was also attested. The discovery of the ancient city was accidental, thanks to the outcrop of finds, during the works of the so-called strada regia (today Strada Statale 35 dei Giovi) destined to connect Genoa, recently entered the Kingdom of Sardinia, with the capital Turin, to starting from 1820. Two neighborhoods have been brought to light near the amphitheater, 60x65m on the side, the amphitheater and the theater. The excavations are mostly kept in the Museum of Antiquities in Turin, where they are among the most valuable works, mosaic floors, marble, bronzes and figured ambers. The city stood on a flat land, rich in water, surrounded by hills. It was traversed longitudinally from the Via Postumia, which constituted the main axis from north-west to south-east. Another main axis was the decumanus which, from the south-west to the northeast, led to the amphitheater. The streets divided the city into many spaces of a basically square shape, but of different sizes. They were paved, rectilinear with exhaust manifolds conveyed to today's Rio della Pieve. The city received water through an aqueduct, was rich in springs, wells and fountains. At the meeting point between the two main streets, there was the forum, a large paved square on which stood porticoes and buildings, which until now has only been partially explored. The baths were located in the extreme north-eastern sector and towards the northern limit stood the theater.

L'autostrada A7, nota più comunemente come Autostrada dei Giovi (in quanto concorre per buona parte alla SS 35 statale dei Giovi) o anche come Serravalle, è la principale e più diretta arteria stradale che collega il capoluogo della Lombardia, Milano, a quello della Liguria, Genova.
È gestita da due concessionarie: da Milano a Serravalle dalla Milano Serravalle-Milano Tangenziali, società che gestisce anche le tangenziali milanesi A50, A51, A52 e la tangenziale di Pavia e da Serravalle a Genova dalla società Autostrade per l'Italia S.p.A.
La Camionale Genova-Serravalle:
Nella prima metà del XX secolo la strada napoleonica che valicava il passo dei Giovi, presa in carico nel 1928 dall'Azienda Autonoma Statale della Strada (AASS), risultava ormai insufficiente a smaltire il crescente traffico di mezzi pesanti che dal porto di Genova si dirigevano verso la pianura padana. Il governo italiano, gestito dal regime fascista del dittatore Benito Mussolini, con lettera al prefetto di Genova datata 10 febbraio 1932, dispose perciò la costruzione di una via di grande comunicazione per Milano e Torino con caratteristiche di alto e pesante traffico, indipendente dalle altre arterie stradali e col tracciato più breve e comodo possibile compatibilmente con le condizioni del terreno.
Alla direzione dell'opera fu posto l'ingegner Giovanni Pini. Vi lavorarono 16 imprese specializzate per la parte stradale, più 12 per la parte relativa all'impiantistica e all'illuminazione. Per la costruzione dell'opera vennero impiegati quasi 30.000 operai, per un totale di 4,5 milioni di giornate lavorative. Il costo di realizzazione, a causa della difficile orografia e delle intersezioni con la ferrovia e le strade già esistenti, fu di molto superiore rispetto a quello di altre autostrade costruite nello stesso periodo.
La tratta Genova-Serravalle venne inaugurata il 29 ottobre 1935 dal re Vittorio Emanuele III, e divenne la via più rapida per collegare la città ligure e il mare con Milano e Torino, soppiantando la vecchia strada statale 35 dei Giovi. All'epoca della sua realizzazione venne denominata Autocamionale Genova-Valle del Po o semplicemente Camionale, a indicarne la sua principale funzione commerciale, nome ancora utilizzato. La gestione venne affidata all'AASS.
Nel 1958 venne deciso il raddoppio del primo tratto tra Genova e Serravalle: i lavori iniziarono nel luglio 1962 e terminarono tre anni dopo, nel luglio 1965. Sempre nel 1965, o secondo altra fonte il 18 marzo 1967, vennero collegati il casello di Genova con l'accesso di ponente della neocostruita strada sopraelevata che attraversa il centro cittadino, mentre nel 1967 avvenne l'allacciamento con il viadotto Polcevera sull'Autostrada A10.
Nel tratto fra Genova e Serravalle la carreggiata Nord, costruita negli anni sessanta mediante l'uso di importanti opere ingegneristiche quali gallerie e viadotti, ha un andamento più diretto della carreggiata Sud, che corrisponde alla vecchia Camionale d'età fascista. Da ciò deriva che il percorso da Genova a Milano è più breve di quello da Milano a Genova, sul quale è calcolato il chilometraggio ufficiale.
Superato il casello Vignole Borbera/Arquata Scrivia inizia il percorso montano che entra in territorio ligure in direzione del Passo dei Giovi. Il tratto finale dell'autostrada si snoda verso Genova, che viene raggiunta attraverso un percorso in discesa, ed è caratterizzato dal seguire la morfologia del territorio, con numerose gallerie e molte curve dallo stretto raggio. Una particolarità di questa parte autostradale è che le due carreggiate quasi mai corrono parallele. Dopo aver intersecato la A12 per Livorno e la A10 per Ventimiglia, l'autostrada termina nel capoluogo ligure nel quartiere di Sampierdarena, nei pressi del porto, innestandosi direttamente nella sopraelevata.
