The town of Segamat is the fifth largest town in the state of Johor with about 80,000 residents. According to local residents of Segamat, the town centre of Segamat can be divided into two, where both neighbourhoods are separated by Segamat River:-
Bandar Atas (Uptown) - The original town centre of Segamat. The official site of Segamat town centre today is Dataran Segamat, or Segamat Square.
Bandar Seberang (Crosstown) - Located at the other side across Segamat river. This neighbourhood is known as Bandar Seberang because of its location across Segamat river. This area houses most of the supermarkets and shopping centres in Segamat.
The cost of living in Segamat is relatively affordable. Accommodation is readily available at the housing areas in Segamat town. Shophouses, supermarkets, restaurants and hawker centres in the proximity offer various and inexpensive choices for shopping, chilling out and eating out.

Segamat
Segamat is a surprisingly large and spread-out town halfway between Johor Baru and Mentakab, a transport hub along the east-west road between Kuala Lumpur and Kuantan. The train and bus station are central and adjacent, while most hotels are just over the bridge, but the few sights (eg the park and mosque) are 2-3kms from the town centre.

On our Malaysia Roadtrip, we decided to stop and spend a day exploring Segamat, Johor. It's a vintage town with predominantly Chinese community. We so happen to be there during the Mid-Autumn/Mooncake/Lantern Festival. So it was our mission to search for some mooncakes to try!

Batu Pahat is located in Johor state, it is 239 km from Kuala Lumpur and 100km from Johor Bahru. The district itself borders the districts of Segamat to the north, Kluang to the east, Muar to the west.
Batu Pahat district has a population 400K*. Majority are Malays 51%, followed by Chinese 46% and the Indian 3%.
Main economy activities in Batu Pahat are furniture manufacturing, food processing and agriculture.

Malaysia Roadtrip: NO GPS CHALLENGE! Bukit Tinggi to Segamat, Johor - MALAYSIA TRAVEL VLOG & GUIDE
It's the 3rd day of our Malaysia roadtrip adventure, and we left Bukit Tinggi in Bentong, Pahang to go to Segamat, Johor.
Our group (with @KenAbroad and @Travelgramers ) decided it would be fun to drive with no GPS! (No Google map or WAZE). We can only ask the locals for directions.

Malaysia Top 10 Happiest Cities
Top 10 happiest city in Malaysia
In June 2020, the Urban and Rural Planning Department unveiled its list of top 10 happiest cities in Malaysia. It was in conjunction with the International Day of Happiness. The department explained that these places were picked based on the population’s well-being that includes health and mental as well as physical well-being.
The top 10 happiest cities are:
Jasin, Kuala Terengganu, Seremban, Kulai, Taiping, Kuantan, Bentong, Melaka, Yan, and Jeli.
The happiness index – a study from 2013 to 2019 involving 60,000 Malaysian respondents – is one of the indicators in Malaysian Urban Rural National Indicators Network for Sustainable Development (MURNInets). It looks into “happiness with family and relatives, pleasure in working, relationship with neighbours, community activities and environmental quality”

This is my favourite building in all of Malaysia! Welcome to the historic splendour at The Blue Mansion. The most iconic and well preserve in Malaysia dazzles visitors with its indigo-coloured facade.
Built by wealthy businessman Cheong Fatt Tze. Like the Taj Mahal, the Blue Mansion, which he started constructing in the 1880s, was his love gift to his 7th wife. He was 70 and she was 17. The mansion was his home and office up until his death in 1916.
The mansion is a stunning example of a type of architectural style found in parts of Southeast Asia known as Straits Eclectic. It was built with five courtyards and 38 rooms

EDTP = Electrified Double Track Project
THE Gemas-Johor Bahru (JB) electrified double-track project (EDTP), will be a ‘push for the state’s economy, looks set to play a big role in the real estate development, mainly in Kluang and Segamat districts.
The EDTP track runs from Gemas, Negeri Sembilan to JB Sentral in Johor Bahru City, covers 197km.
It will have 11 intermediate KTM Southern Line stations. These stations are in Segamat, Genuang, Labis, Bekok, Paloh, Kluang, Mengkibol, Rengam, Layang-Layang, Kulai and Kempas Baru.
