Melbourne to Sydney Drive via the Coast: 8 Must-See Stops in Victoria
Forget the Melbourne to Sydney drive via the inland route, we'll show you the spectacular coastal trip and 8 places to stop that will leave you in awe. In this first part, we'll run through all the towns we stopped at in Gippsland, Victoria: Bairnsdale, Lakes Entrance and Nungurner.
Your first stop after you leave Melbourne will be the vast region of Gippsland that stretches all the way from the outer suburb of Pakenham all the way to the border of New South Wales. The region is GIGANTIC. Driving from one end to the other can take up to 5 hours.
Our first 2 nights saw us staying in the small township of Bairnsdale, where we bunked up at the NRMA Holiday Park which we used as our base to explore Paynesville, Raymond Island and the Buchan Caves.
We moved further east on our final 2 nights, staying at our first off-grid Airbnb - The Folly in Nungurner. From there, we embarked on trips to the popular family holiday spot Lakes Entrance, Ninety Mile Beach and even ventured as far as the Historic Trestle Bridge in Nowa Nowa.
Whether you're road tripping from Melbourne to Sydney, or Sydney to Melbourne, a stop in Lakes Entrance and Gippsland is an absolute must. Famous for being the home of Australia's largest inland waterways, the views and sights will steal your breath away and leave you wanting to return for more.

Chesterfield Farm 2021 | Melbourne | exploring fully working farm and interacting with the animals
We had a phenomenal day just a week back exploring the rural farm life at Chesterfield Farm. There were peacocks roaming around, goats, sheep, ponies, camels, llamas, etc. that wow us until the end of the trip. We then stuffed our stomachs with plump, juicy dumplings at a small humble restaurant in Scoresby. A beautiful day to remember :)

Upwey is a residential suburb in hilly surrounds 34 km south-east of Melbourne and 2 km west of Belgrave.
Until the turn of the nineteenth century Upwey did not have a separate identity. In the middle 1890s the part of the locality was divided into ten-acre blocks as part of the ‘Scoresby’ village settlement scheme, which extended northwards to Ferny Creek. Notwithstanding the Scoresby appellation, Upwey was known as Mast Gully, after several ship masts had been cut from a gully in 1850. (Mast Gully Creek and Mast Gully Road remain.)
In 1897 three sisters, the Tullidges, bought a homestead and named it Upwey, after the English village on the River Wey. They persuaded the Victorian Railways to approve a stopping place near their house, and the name Upwey was given to it. The name was adopted by common usage, the Upwey Church of England being built in 1904 (now in the neighbouring locality of Tecoma). The post office was built in 1911 in a newly constructed store.

Greenland - Since 8 years I'm traveling to this magical country. Today quiet and untouched places are becoming more and more rare. On my first visit to Greenland, I was fascinated by the incredible power of nature that can be felt everywhere. But during the last years things have changed. The amount of icebergs is increasing savagely. Glaciers I'm visiting every year are retreating not meters but kilometers a year and the unending amount of ice seems to be endless. There is nothing more beautiful than an iceberg - everyone is unique and the light reflecting from its surface is magical. It's sad how close beauty and decay can be seen in an iceberg. This movie is is an appreciation to the ice - for me the most amazing aggregate state of water.
Behind the scenes
For this short film I travelled to Greenland with my drones several times. Always with the target of a certain region in a certain light situation. The shots from the calving glacier took me 4 days at the Eqi Glacier and over 70 battery charges for only 4 usable shots of a few seconds. It's a very hard intention to film the very right moment on a glacier front of about 6km wide - especially close up. But the hardest thing of flying in Greenland is the fact, that every 2-3 minutes the difference between the magnetic north and the geographic north (which are not the same place - especially so far north) causing a fatal p-gps flight error and the drone is flying away (also the camera's horizon). But at the end every single flight was worth it - filming Icebergs from above is one of the most beautiful things I've ever done. Additionally I used the drone to scout the landing spot and look for polar bears. The best thing for bears and humans is to not meet each other on shore.

Chesterfield Farm is a children’s farm located in Scoresby and is the perfect way to spend a day out with your family.
Open daily, Chesterfield Farm has a huge range of activities which can be enjoyed by your little ones including animal petting, feeding and tractor rides!
Enjoy a tractor ride as you tour the expansive farm and get back just in time to enjoy Working Sheepdog demonstrations. Other fun activities that you can enjoy at the farm include watching Sheep Shearing and Whip Cracking.
Kids can get up close to many of the animals as they learn how to milk a cow and feed deer, goats and emu. Kids can also visit the baby animal nursery and touch and learn about the different baby animals.
Bring a picnic lunch as there are picnic tables located here and BBQ’s available for hire. If you want to grab a quick snack on the go, head to the Farmhouse Cafe which serves fresh meals including sandwiches wraps as well as gourmet pies, sausage rolls, hot coffee and cold drinks.
Birthday parties are popular here with friendly staff coordinating animal feeding, tractor rides and demonstrations. You are welcome to bring your own food, or Chesterfield can cater for you.
So come on down to Chesterfield Farm for a great day in the outdoors. Your kids will never forget it!

Vast, unspoiled, virtually uninhabited – East Greenland’s Scoresby Sund is an Arctic wilderness of transcendent quality. Expedition cruising is your ticket in to the world’s largest and most beautiful fjord system. Long, narrow channels, strewn with cathedral-like icebergs and flanked by sheer rock walls, reach deep into the glaciated heart of Greenland. Those who appreciate huge expanses of untouched wilderness will love it here.
The tundra landscape of Scoresby Sund is home to wildlife such as musk oxen and Arctic hare. Throughout the region we also find ancient Thule archeological sites and historical trappers’ huts. At the modern Inuit village of Ittoqqortoormiit we have the chance to visit a museum and witness the antics of Greenlandic sled dogs.

Thirlmere Festival of Steam 2022
On June 25 & 26, the annual Thirlmere Festival of Steam returned! This video shows my footage of the 5 steam locos hauling trains on the day, along with a demonstration from the Steam Coal Grab. Locomotives featured are: 3265, 3526, 3642, 3801, and 6029.
This celebration of all things steam also included a 6th locomotive static but in steam (2705), some steam industrial engines, and a couple of traction engines. Unfortunately I wasn't able to capture all of these on film this time around.
