Things To Do in Vienna, Austria | Must Do Travels
Hey Guys and welcome back to Must Do Travels. Today we are hitting the capital city of Austria which is the great city of Vienna.
Vienna is known for a high quality of life. Its legacy in art and intellectuality was influenced by major contributors including Mozart, Beethoven, and Sigmund Freud.
Its also known for its architecture and various palaces around the city.
Let’s take a look at some of the MUST DO Spots in Vienna.
Schönbrunn Palace was the main summer residence of the Habsburg rulers. This palace has 1,441-rooms and is one of the most important architectural, cultural, and historical monuments in the country. The palace also features large and beautiful gardens.
Located in the centre of Vienna, the Hofburg palace used to be principal imperial palace of the Habsburg rulers and is now the official residence of the President of Vienna.
Notable features of the Hofburg palace are: the imperial chapel, the imperial library, the treasury, and the the Spanish Riding School.
The Vienna State Opera first opened in 1869 and was originally called the Vienna Court Opera. The change in name came when the Habsburg Monarchy was replaced by the First Austrian Republic.
The Belvedere Palace is a historic building complex in Vienna consisting of two Baroque palaces , the Orangery, and the Palace Stables. The Belvedere was built during a period of extensive construction in Vienna, which at the time was both the imperial capital and home to the ruling Habsburg dynasty.
Vienna city hall finished construction in 1883. It is a neo-gothic style building in the Rathaus square in Vienna and it houses the Mayor, city council, and the Vienna Landtag Diet.
The Hundertwasserhaus is an apartment complex in Vienna with really cool and interesting architectural design.
This is an 18th century fountain located in Vienna’s famous Neuer Markt and features multiple allegorical statues.

With this video I explain how to easily get from Vienna Airport to Vienna city by low-cost public transportation.

All passes (24,48,72 hours or weekly) are valid for all public transportation in Vienna, such as Subways, Trams, Buses and Trains.
Here also an indication of which means to take to see which attraction in Vienna.
- St. Stephen's Cathedral - Change at WIEN MITTE stop, change to subway line U3 (the orange one) - make 2 stops in the direction of Ottakring arrival stop STEPHANSPLATZ. - any exit is fine.
- Imperial Winter Palace (Hofburg) / City Hall / Parliament / Museum of Fine Arts / Leopold Museum - Change at WIEN MITTE stop, change to subway line U3 (the orange one) - make 4 stops in the direction of Ottakring arrival stop VOLKSTHEATER. - take the exit Volksgarten
- Vienna State Opera - Change at PRATERSTERN stop, change to subway line U1 (the red one) - make 4 stops in the direction of Oberlaa arrival stop KARLSPLATZ. - take the exit Oper

#1 Naschmarkt: Let’s start with the most famous market in the city. Vienna’s Naschmarkt has a centuries-long tradition and is called the “belly of Vienna”. “If the Naschmarkt doesn’t have it, you don’t need it,” is the market’s slogan, and residents are still convinced by it. Over 120 stalls and restaurants offer an enormous variety of delicacies from the region and all over the world.

#2 Kutschkermarkt: In Vienna's 18th district, the Kutschkermarkt is one of only two street markets that remain. The stalls offer high-quality products in keeping with the district’s well-off mileu. The focus is on delicacies from all over the world as well as organic products. The famer’s market each Saturday is a weekly highlight.

#3 Meidlinger Markt: The Meidlinger Markt was founded in the period between the world wars and is still there today. Located in the 12th district, the market has retained much of its old flair. In recent years, the large, traditional selection of products such as fruit, vegetables and meat have been complemented by several more unusual stalls with vegan or gluten-free products. The restaurant business around the Meidlinger Markt is even more colorful. Many special restaurants with unconventional concepts recently opened up in the area. It all creates a wonderful mix of the traditional and modernism.
#4 Brunnenmarkt: Let’s continue with the second and also largest street market in Vienna. The Brunnenmarkt between Thaliastrasse and Ottakringer Strasse has an international flair. Here you can get delicacies from all over the world, exotic spices and enticing fruit at reasonable prices. The area around the Brunnenmarkt has evolved into a trendy district in recent years.

#5 Karmelitermarkt: A 10-minute walk to the Karmelitermarkt is a nice way to follow up a sightseeing tour in the city center. This will take you right into a burgeoning Viennese neighborhood. Not only the typical market activities but also the local restaurants draw many visitors. New and innovative dining concepts are emerging constantly.

#6 Rochusmarkt: Last of all, we’ll visit the 3rd district of Vienna. A trade route passed by today’s Rochusmarkt as early as 1192. Today the Rochusmarkt is an important local supplier. It features not just many different food stalls but a striking number of flower shops. It’s no wonder, since it was originally exclusively a flower market.

This was an amazing view of the city of Vienna from above. I had the flight from Madrid to Vienna with Iberia on 17 October 2022. My seat was 21A on an Airbus A320neo. This was the first time that i got a view of the city during the landing at Flughafen Wien-Schwechat Airport. So if it happen that you have the same flight I suggest to you to choose a seat on the left side of the aircraft. The videos was shooted in Cinematic 5,3K quality with GoPro Hero 10 Black.
