MOST UNDERRATED Town in Baja California Sur Mexico
Mulege was one of my favorite stops in all of our Baja California Sur road trip! This town just has something about it that got under my skin in the best possible way. I felt so relaxed, so calm, so at peace in this place. Maybe it was the sunsets along the lazy river, maybe it was the people and how kind and open they were, maybe it was the paintings or the desert hike through the canyon. Whatever it was, I'll definitely be back to Mulege again one day.

Y finalizo la serie de videos por la Baja Sur recorriendo el norte de este municipio, Santa Rosalía y su histórica ciudad, donde les compartiré detalles de la historia minera que tiene esta ciudad, su hotel Francés, la iglesia de Santa Bárbara, una iglesia diseñada por el mismísimo Gustavo Eifel y toda la historia detrás de la compañía de Boleo.

The beaches of Mulege in Baja California Sur are incredibly beautiful. In addition, the heroic Mulegé has some other places of interest for the traveler such as their Oasis, the mission Santa Rosalia de Mulegé, and jail without doors among other places. In this video I also show you beaches like Playa El Requesón, Playa el Burro, Playa El Coyote and Playa Santispac. And I end the series of videos through Baja Sur touring the north of this municipality, Santa Rosalia, and its historic city, where I will share details of the mining history of this city, its French hotel, the church of Santa Barbara, a church designed by Gustavo Eifel himself and the whole story behind the company of Boleo. Join me to close this series of videos, I’m sure you will love it. Mulegé is unique and you have to know him.

Its rich history, tradition and culture has converted this amazing destination into the third Magical Town in Baja California Sur. (Todos Santos was the first and Loreto the second.)
Santa Rosalia is a small town located along the Sea of Cortes, to the north of the state which has a lot of French history. Its history goes back to 1705 when a mission was built by Jesuit Juan Maria Basaldua. In 1828 after a series of inundations, the town is abandoned. In 1885, President Porfirio Díaz' mission was to modernize Mexico, (he's credited for bringing trains to Mexico among many other things.)... This is when he negotiates with the French company El Boleo to exploit its copper mines in exchange for rebuilding the town, providing utilities and creating a road from Guaymas in order for the town to revive and offer employment. This is why you find French architecture here... For this reason, this town is also known as the French Southern Baja.
One of the main attractions is undoubtedly the metal church. Originally built entirely of stamped steel sheet squares, it is supported by a formidable steel structure in a sober and austere style. It has been brutally modified in favor of functionality (its former lateral corridors were turned into habitable space using crude masonry), and stripped of several of its original stained glasses. Despite these modifications, it still preserves some of the original 1800s spirit.
Tradition, the design of this church is credited to architect Gustave Eiffel.
