En el día de hoy, vinimos a conocer parte del área de los Humedales de Santa Lucía, el área protegida más grande dentro del Sistema Nacional de Areas Protegidas o por sus siglas SNAP.
El SNAP es creado por ley en el año 2000 y en el año 2008 se inaugura oficialmente con el ingreso de su primer área prtotegida al sistema: La quebrada de los Cuervos, en el departamento de 33.
En 2015 ingresa el área de los humedales de Santa Lucía, la cual se convierte en el área protegida más grande del sistema hasta la fecha, tocando 3 departamentos y estando muy cerca de la zona más poblada del país.
En el paseo de hoy nos guia Alejandro de SOLO AVENTURA CONOCIENDO URUGUAY, un gaucho y conocedor de la zona. Dejo su Instagram en la descripción para que lo sigan ya que los paseos y las propuestas van cambiando a lo largo del año.
Montevideo tiene grandes atractivos turísticos, muchos super tradicionales y bien conocidos por todos, esta es una propuesta diferente. La mayoría de las personas que visitan esta zona no dan crédito que no salieron de Montevideo, a tan solo 20 minutos de sus casas y están rodeados de agua y de naturaleza, es un paseo ideal para hacerlo en familia o grupos de amigos cualquier fin de semana y que no requiere irse muy lejos.
Los humedales de Santa Lucia es una zona de facil acceso, a tan solo 25Km del centro de Montevideo y se puede llegar por transporte publico.(Lineas 494 / 127)
El paseo se inicia en las inmediaciones del Club Aleman de Remo, llegamos a las 11am. Allí se da un espacio para cambiarse de ropa y tener una breve charla sobre navegación en canoa y normas básicas de seguridad.
A TENER EN CUENTA:

Repelente para moscas y mosquitos
De ser posible pantalón largo.
El recorrido comienza una vez que todos estamos en nuestra canoas, navegamos rio arriba hasta llegar al humedal donde se hace una merienda, durante el recorrido se van contando historias de la zona, de su fauna y flora.
El recorrido es de una dificultad baja o media, dependiendo de las corrientes y del viento pero es apto para hacerlo desde los 12 años en adelante.
Terminamos el recorrido a eso de las 4 de la tarde, cansados pero con la satisfacción de haber completado la travesía, si te quedan fuerzas podes seguir visitando y conociendo la zona a pié o en bicicleta.
La zona ha tenido un gran desarrollo turístico en los últimos años con ayuda de la intendencia y de los vecinos y sigue siendo una zona con mucho potencial. Es importante cuidar el lugar ya que el agua que llega a los hogares de Montevideo, área metropolitana, canelones y San José sale de este mismo lugar.

The Guru’Guay website receives almost 200,000 visitors a year.
Since then Karen has published The Guru’Guay Guide to Montevideo (Jan. 2016, 2nd edition out Oct. 2019) – the only English-language city guide to the capital – and its companion The Guru’Guay Guide to Uruguay: Beaches, Ranches & Wine Country (Nov. 2017).
Karen is the only Uruguay guidebook author who actually lives in Uruguay and the difference to the other commercial guidebooks is palpable.

Welcome to Santiago De Chile. This video provides information about all the top things to see in Santiago and its neighboring city of Valparaiso in just 3 days. Santiago is not a big city so a 3 day itinerary is good enough to see most things in the city. Add a day or two to visit wineries and take a side trip to the canyons. Stick around till the end and hopefully the video will help you plan your trip to Santiago De Chile.
???? Getting around in Santiago
I used the metro system in Santiago extensively. The metro provides access to all the places you will see in this video. This is the fastest and the most hassle free way to travel within Santiago.
???? Valparaiso Day Trip
Head over to Pajaritos metro station in Santiago (on the red line) and take one of the several buses that ply frequently between the 2 cities. Buses are comfortable, clean and even have toilets on board. The entire journey is about 90-120 minutes depending on the traffic. I use TurBus. Tickets can be purchased online or directly at the Turbus ticket window at Pajaritos

Personal favorite was the street food at Plaza De Armas or one of the several restaurants lining the plaza. If you like sea food then head over to Mercado Central or the Central Market.
Barrio Italia (Italian neighborhood) has tons of places serving cuisines from all over the world.

Santa Lucia in Uruguay.
Santa Lucia is a small city which is located on the intersection of Route 11 with Route 63, about 70 kilometres Northwest of the centre of Montevideo. The river Río Santa Lucía, after which the city is named, flows along the north-western limits of the city. My wife and I have visited this city on Sunday the 22nd May of 2016. We claim that we are the first Bengali speaking people, or Indian race, ever visited this little township of Uruguay. Please enjoy my narration and drop by a few words if you have anything to say.
