Short video from my trip to Quiche this past week - even on a Monday the markets were bustling and full off activity!
Originally founded in the fifteenth century as the K’iche’ capital of K’umarcaaj Santa Cruz del Quiché was one of the first major cities and department heads of Guatemala. The city lies in the southwestern Chuacús Mountains at an elevation of 6,631 feet (2,021m). The town also functions as a market center for the Indian villages in the vicinity.

Guatemala, a Central American country south of Mexico, is home to volcanoes, rainforests, and ancient Mayan sites. The capital, Guatemala City, features the stately National Palace of Culture and the National Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology.
Antigua, west of the capital, contains preserved Spanish colonial buildings. Lake Atitlán, formed in a massive volcanic crater, is surrounded by coffee fields and villages.

Convite of Santa Cruz del Quiché, Cultural Heritage of Guatemala #guatemala #quiche
Every August 18 for the fest of Saint Helena of the Cross, in the city of Santa Cruz del Quiche, Guatemala are celebrated the “Convites”, masquerade dances in the street in honor of the Saint.
Different groups dances across the city with handmade costumes that are inspired by the movies, fantasy and imagination.
A unique celebration that is Cultural Heritage of Guatemala. I was there the last year for the feast of Saint Helena. You can see more about it on my video that I made, in my YouTube Channel.

Coban Guatemala Attractions - Templo El Calvario
Templo El Calvario (or Iglesia Il Calvario) is church situated on top of a hill overlooking Coban and one of the top sights in this city in Alta Verapaz department of Guatemala. The biggest attraction here is the panorama of the city and since is very easy to walk to it from anywhere in the city.
There is no entrance fee and no theoretically you can visit at any hour, however it is recommended that you tour the place in day light.
Parque Nacional Las Victorias, another top sight in Coban, is situated very close, 10 min walking so you can easily combine these two attractions.

Guatemala - Is This The Most UNDERRATED Travel Destination?
Guatemala is one of the cheapest places we have visited so far. It only cost us around $3 per meal and the flight (from Florida) was under $300.
If you have the chance, we highly recommend visiting this beautiful country. If you have any other questions about visiting, feel free to leave a comment below and I will try my best to help you out or even make a video on it.

Coban Guatemala Attractions - Parque Nacional Las Victorias
Parque Nacional Las Victorias is a sprawling national park and one of the top sights in Coban, Alta Verapaz, Guatemala. The park is easily accessible from anywhere in the city by walking. The entrance fee for foreigners (extranjeros) is 10 Quetzals. You can spend a few hours hiking and walking around the park as it has multiple trails to choose from. Right in front of the entrance there a small laguna which in the rainy season is flooded and not really nice.
Parque Nacional Las Victorias is one of the few top attractions in Coban which do not require going out of town, which makes it an easy destination for many travelers who are just passing through Coban on the way to Lanquin (for Semuc Champey) or Flores (for TIkal).
