Today, we show you where to travel in 2022 in our Lake Atitlan Guatemala travel vlog and give some what to do after retirement ideas. We take a boat ride to explore a few of the 12 cities located around the shores of Lake Atitlan, which is one of the most beautiful places we have ever been. We pick up some food in San Marcos and then explore art, textiles, chocolate and coffer in San Juan La Laguna. We then return to our Airbnb location in Santa Cruz La Laguna to take a Guatemalan cooking class.
This is our retirement and we hope you will join us for a 10-year journey and world travel vlog. Perhaps our travel will give some ideas on what to do in retirement and where to travel in 2022. Our Adventures to Lake Atitlan, Guatemala | Episode 40
WE are half way through our three month break from sailing for the hurricane season and still adventuring throughout inland Guatemala.
This episode WE trek a little bit west from Antigua to an absolutely stunning getaway at Lake Atitlan. This beautiful mountain lake is surrounded by volcanoes and is in fact the lake it self is a crater from a volcano at one time. We waste not time exploring these beautiful vistas. Our time (and now this video) is filled with sightseeing, shopping, chocolate, zip lines, monkeys, butterflies, poolside recovery, boat rides, and just amazing times!!
We wander back and fourth to some of the main lakeside villages; San Marcos, San Juan and San Pedro. Each one offering a slightly different feel to the next.

What to do in Flores and Tikal, Guatamala.
This is part two of our trip to Guatemala. We visited the island of Flores prior to taking a tour of the Mayan ruins at Tikal. Flores is just a short flight from Guatemala City (around 40 minutes) and worth a visit for its restaurants, lake-views, friendly people, and colorful buildings. Tikal was an all day adventure of hiking, jungle exploration, bird-watching, and learning about the history of the Mayan people.

2 years ago, my friend @thesafarer and I decided to visit one of the most amazing countries on Earth, Guatemala, the land of volcanoes.
Here is our first adventure while hiking up Acatenango Volcano and Volcano de Fuego.

After a quick flight to Guatemala City, we spent the night in the city and began our drive to Lake Atitlan the next morning. This was our kid's first time in Guatemala and it did not disappoint! We were able to arrange traditional Guatemalan food to be prepared at our Airbnb (Jocón and Pepián) and hired a boat ride to a nearby village called San Juan La Laguna. We visited Tinte Maya who are made up of Women Artisans who use natural plant dye techniques and weaving traditions to design and create wearable art. The hot chocolate from San Juan was also amazing!
We ended our days in our wood fired jacuzzi, gazing at the three volcanoes that surround Lake Atitlan. It was the perfect start to our Guatemalan Adventure.
