The county was founded in 958 AD and is known as the Ancient Town of Han and Tang Dynasty, Famous City of Two Song Dynasties, and during the Northern Song Dynasty, the county created the grand event of two scholars across the river, four scholars in one door and nine scholars in one lane. There were 2 scholars, 54 jinshi, and 101 jinshi in the history of the city. In addition to the spirituality of the Jinxi River, which passes around the city, and the Si water of Qufu in Shandong Province, the Emperor Zhezong of Song Dynasty gave the name of Taining as the county name in 1086 A.D. to praise Confucius' Que Li.
Taining is one of the 21 Soviet counties in the central government, and there are revolutionary historical sites such as the Red Army Street, the headquarters of the Eastern Army, and the former site of the Dayang Roach Blockade, which was included in the 100 Red Classic Tourist Attractions in 2004.
In March 2019, it was included in the list of the first batch of counties in the area of revolutionary cultural relics protection and utilization. The second batch of national agricultural quality and safety counties.

Xiamen is a port city on China’s southeast coast, across a strait from Taiwan. It encompasses 2 main islands and a region on the mainland. Formerly known as Amoy, it was a British-run treaty port from 1842 to 1912. Many Europeans and Japanese lived on Gulangyu, today a vehicle-free island with beaches and meandering streets lined with old colonial villas.
Xiamen is a sub-provincial city in southeastern Fujian, China. It is divided into six districts: Huli, Siming, Jimei, Tong'an, Haicang, and Xiang'an. The urbanized area of the city has spread from its original island to include parts of all six of its districts. The Jinmen or Kinmen Islands administered by the Republic of China lie less than 6 kilometers away.
Xiamen Island was considered to possess one of the world's great natural harbors in Yundang Bay, but Fujian's international trade was long restricted to Quanzhou or to Guangzhou in Guangdong. Due to the siltification of Quanzhou's harbor, the British insisted that Xiamen be opened to foreign trade in the treaty that ended the First Opium War in 1842. Under the Qing, both before and after the war, there was large-scale emigration of Chinese from southern Fujian spread Hokkien-speaking communities to Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia. The overseas Chinese continue to support Xiamen's educational and cultural institutions. As part of China's Opening Up Policy under Deng Xiaoping, Xiamen became one of the original four special economic zones opened to foreign investment and trade in the early 1980s. Its former harbor was enclosed using land excavated during the city's expansion.
The city is known for its mild climate, Hoklo influence and colonial architecture, as well as its relatively low pollution. In 2006, Xiamen was ranked as China's 2nd-most suitable city for living, as well as China's most romantic leisure city in 2011.
