Monastery of Sankt Florian and Home of Composer ANTON BRUCKNER - Austria
St. Florian Monastery is an Augustinian monastery in the town of Sankt Florian, Austria. Founded in the early ninth century, and later refounded by Augustinians in the eleventh century, St. Florian is the largest monastery in Upper Austria, and rivals Melk Abbey and Klosterneuburg Monastery as among the most impressive examples of Baroque architecture in Austria. The monastery is dedicated to Saint Florian, whose fourth century grave lies beneath the monastery.
St. Florian's Priory possesses two organs, the larger one of which is known as the Bruckner organ (Brucknerorgel) and contains four manuals, 103 stops and 7,343 pipes. It was played by composer and organist Anton Bruckner, previously a choir boy at the monastery, when he was the organist, between 1848 and 1855. He is buried beneath the organ inside the church.

St. Florian's Priory, near the town of Enns in Upper Austria, was built in the baroque style by Carlo Antonio Carlone and completed by Jacob Prandtauer. In 1071, Bishop Altmann of Passau founded the community of Augustinian Canons here. Not every day you experience a sung Lord's Prayer accompanied by a Bruckner organ. The organ is named after the composer Bruckner, who was working as organist in St. Florian.
Bruckner is buried in the basilica of St. Florian.

AUSTRIA Klasztor św. Floriana - STIFT SANKT FLORIAN
200 km od Wiednia znajduje się Święty Florian. Augustiański Klasztor Świętego Floriana. Muzeum-Klasztor. Jedna z najważniejszych barokowych budowli w Austrii. Założony (w miejscu pochówku św. Floriana - zm. 304 r.) w 1071 r. przez oo. Benedyktynów z czasem przejęty przez kanoników św. Augustyna. Obecny Augustiański z 1686 r. Barokowa klasztorna biblioteka ze 160 tys. dzieł. Sala marmurowa o wym. 30x15x15 m (biało-czerwona posadzka marmurowa). Ołtarz - najważniejsze dzieło Albrechta Altdorfera. Kościół - w ołtarzu obraz Wniebowzięcia. Od 1999 r. bazylika. Tutaj działał jako organista i został pochowany wielki kompozytor austriacki Anton Bruckner. 5 lip 2012.

Day 25 - Salzburg, Austria
Went and saw one of the most beautiful libraries in the world (not just in Austria, but it's definitely the most beautiful in Austria!) at this little monastery in the small town of St. Florian about an hour and a half outside of Salzburg. My tour was even led by a monk, which was pretty cool! And the whole monastery was beautiful, and other then their library, they are also very famous for their St. Florian's boy choir. A very cool day, even if it was a bit hard getting out there, so worth it!
