The second largest city in Honduras, San Pedro Sula has been named several times in recent years as one of the most dangerous and violent cities in the world. Robberies, kidnappings and murders are common, but 95% of crime is drug-related.
To be honest, a lot of people have told me to be very careful here. I really respect their opinions, but as always I am very curious to see with my own eyes the atmosphere of the city during the day, explore the streets and talk to the people who live in this notorious Honduran city!

We explored the absolute BEST of Honduras in 5 days for LESS THAN $500. Not only did we visit Roatan (from the West End all the way to Punta Gorda), but also Little French Key, and the Yojoa region where we experienced D&D Brewery and the incredible Pulhapanzak Waterfalls! We ate some of the best local foods ie. baleadas and had an overall amazing time in Honduras. We were able to see, eat and do so much in Honduras - easily becoming one of our favorite Central American countries!

If you made it through the video then you absolutely know this is a SARCASTIC view on click bait and the fear mongering happening in Honduras (especially San Pedro Sula)! Honduras does have REAL challenges! However, they should not overshadow all the beautiful things about the country and it's people. For irony, I used a picture taken in California as my thumbnail.
My family and I decided to move to San Pedro Sula while living in the United States and Youtube was swarming with videos about how dangerous the country is. At the time the only YouTuber shedding light on both the challenges and beauty of the country was @shinfujiyamaReal who I mention in this video. However, outside of Shin Fujiyama Youtube was filled with videos of visitors walking through the murder capital of the world. Again, Honduras does have challenges with poverty, crime, and danger just like any other country in the world. Yet, the homicide rate in San Pedro Sula 2023 has dropped significantly in the past decade with cities like Memphis, New Orleans, Baltimore, Cleveland, and even Milwaukee surpassing San Pedro Sula.

For my second vlog, we arrived to a coffee bodega to tour the tasting process, visited a coffee farm, and made a stop at Luna Jaguar Hot Springs thermal baths. Finally, time for Copan Ruins, my first Latino wedding, and Cataratas Pulhapanzak before I make my way back to New Orleans, Louisiana!
