San Donato in Poggio:
The Chianti village of San Donato in Poggio, Tuscany
San Donato in Poggio is a mediaeval village of great charm located near the Via Cassia, the highway that runs along the western boundary of the Chianti Classico wine zone from Florence to Sienna. In modern times, the Via Cassia has been superceded by the Florence-Sienna motorway but in fact a drive along the Via Cassia is second in interest only to the Via Chiantigiana which runs right down the middle of Chianti.
The main street of San Donato in Poggio, Chianti
In any case, those making a motor excursion through this part of Chianti should be sure to stop for an hour or so in San Donato. Quite a stretch of the 12 C defensive wall remains intact along with two mediaeval gateways, the Porta Fiorentina and Porta Senese. There’s also a fine watch tower, Il Torrino, springing up from the wall.
The main street, Via del Giglio, runs from Porta Fiorentina to the main piazza, location of Palazzo Malaspina and the church of Santa Maria della Neve, that rare structure in Tuscany, a Gothic church, dating from the 15 C. In the middle of the piazza, there is octagonal well that was the main source of water for San Donato through most of its history. The Palazzo Pretorio, largely reconstructed following World War II bomb damage, faces Palazzo Malaspina.
The most important church in San Donato is the Pieve di San Donato located near the Porta Senese. This parish church is Romanesque in style, like almost all Chianti parish churches (pievi), and is documented as early as the year 989. It houses a Della Robbia baptismal font dating from 1513.
There are two restaurants and a number of food supply shops in San Donato.

Camper park San Giuliano - Venice

The San Giuliano Venice is located in San Giuliano Park – the largest European urban park and offers an extraordinary example of environmental recovery, offering a breathtaking view of Venice and its lagoon. Even San Giuliano Venice has a low environmental impact owing to a number of energy-saving measures (sun, water, waste recycling).

San Giuliano Venice is the “aire d’accueil” nearest to the old town of Venice who can be reached by motorboat or tramway/bus.

Milan (English /mɨˈlæn/ mə-LAN; Italian: Milano [miˈlaːno] ( listen); Milanese: Milan [miˈlaŋ]), the second-most populous city in Italy, serves as the capital of Lombardy. The city proper has a population of about 1.3 million, while its urban area (the 5th-largest in the EU) comprises an estimated 5,264,000 people.[3] The massive suburban sprawl that followed the post-war boom of the 1950s–1960s and the growth of a vast commuter belt suggest that socioeconomic linkages have expanded well beyond the boundaries of its administrative limits and its agglomeration, creating a polycentric metropolitan area of 7 to 10 million people,[4][5][6][7] stretching over the provinces of Milan, Bergamo, Como, Lecco, Lodi, Monza and Brianza, Pavia, Varese and Novara. The Milan metropolitan region is part of the so-called Blue Banana, the area of Europe with the highest population and industrial density. In terms of GDP, Milan has the third largest economy among EU cities and the largest among European non-capital cities.[8]

Milan was founded by the Insubres, a Celtic people. The Romans later conquered the city, which they knew as Mediolanum, and which eventually became the capital (286 - 402 CE) of the Western Roman Empire. During the Middle Ages, Milan flourished as a commercial and banking center.[9] In the course of the following centuries, it had been alternatively dominated by France, Habsburg Spain, and Austria, until 1859 when the city joined the rising Kingdom of Italy. During the early 1900s, Milan led the industrialization process of the young nation, being at the very center of the economic, social, and political debate. Badly affected by World War II, and suffering a harsh Nazi occupation, the city became the main centre of the Italian Resistance.[10][need quotation to verify] In post-war years the city enjoyed a prolonged economic boom, attracting large flows of workers from Southern Italy.[11] During recent decades Milan has seen a huge rise in the number of international immigrants, and as of 2011 more than one sixth of its population was foreign born.[2]

Religious Freedom in Italy Under Pressure

In the Lombardy region of northern Italy a regional law is putting religious freedom into question.

June 26, 2019 the Punto Luce church received an order from the city of San Giuliano Milanese that forbids them from gathering in their meeting place of Via Montenero 1/c.

The 70 members of the church have not been able to meet in their meeting place since that time.

What is happening to the religious freedoms that are guaranteed to us by our Italian constitution.

We are called Punto Luce (Point of Light) because we want to be a resource in our area, a family that serves the community; why should we stop?
