Day Trip to Casco Viejo Panama - Historic part of Panama - 3 hours needed to Explore
Did you know Panama has the 2nd largest GDP in Latin America after Chile! It is a developing country but unfortunately has a large chunk of poverty intertwined with the exuberant rich high rises that Panama city is known for.
One of the very historic parts of Panama City is Casco Viejo.
Completed in 1673, it was built following the near total destruction of the original Panamá city, Panamá Viejo in 1671, when the latter was attacked by pirates. It was designated a World Heritage Site in 1997.
Take a few hours to stroll through the cobble stone streets with eclectic buildings, some completely dilapidated and abandoned and some impeccably resorted like the Central Hotel in Panama.
Eat at a rooftop restaurant and definitely check out the beautiful Cathedral in the town square.
When in Panama I found Uber to be the safest and cheapest mode of transport.
