Cortona is a town and comune in the province of Arezzo, in Tuscany, Italy. Cortona is the main cultural and artistic center of the Val di Chiana after Arezzo. Cortona may be accessed by rail: the closest station is Camucia-Cortona, 3 kilometres (1.9 miles) away. There are direct trains from Florence, Rome, and Foligno (via Perugia).
The foundation of Cortona remains mixed in legends dating to classical times. These were later reworked especially in the late Renaissance period under Cosimo I de' Medici. The 17th-century Guide of Giacomo Lauro, reworked from writings of Annio da Viterbo, states that 108 years after the Great Flood, Noah entered the Valdichiana via the Tiber and Paglia rivers. He preferred this place better than anywhere else in Italy, because it was so fertile, and dwelt there for thirty years. One of Noah's descendants was Crano, his son who came to the hilltop and, liking the high position, the fine countryside and the calm air, built the city of Cortona on it in 273 years after the Great Flood.
The prevailing character of Cortona’s architecture is medieval with steep narrow streets situated on a hillside at an elevation of 600 metres (2,000 ft) that embraces a view of the whole of the Valdichiana. From the Piazza Garibaldi (still referred to by the local population by its older name, Piazza Carbonaia) is a fine prospect of Lake Trasimeno, scene of Hannibal's ambush of the Roman army in 217 BC (Battle of Lake Trasimene). Parts of the Etruscan city wall can still be seen today as the basis of the present wall. The main street, via Nazionale, is the only street in the town with no gradient, and is still usually referred to by locals by its older name of Ruga Piana.
Inside the Palazzo Casali is the Museo dell'Accademia Etrusca, displaying items from Etruscan, Roman, and Egyptian civilizations, as well as art and artefacts from the Medieval and Renaissance eras. The distinguished Etruscan Academy Museum had its foundation in 1727 with the collections and library of Onofrio Baldelli. Among its most famous ancient artefacts is the bronze lampadario or Etruscan hanging lamp, found at Fratta near Cortona in 1840 and then acquired by the Academy for the large sum of 1600 Florentine scudi. Its iconography includes (under the 16 burners) alternating figures of Silenus playing panpipes or double flutes, and of sirens or harpies. Within zones representing waves, dolphins and fiercer sea-creatures is a gorgon-like face with protruding tongue. Between each burner is a modelled horned head of Achelous. It is supposed that the lampadario derived from some important north Etruscan religious shrine of around the second half of the 4th century BC. A later (2nd century BC) inscription shows it was rededicated for votive purposes (tinscvil) by the Musni family at that time.

FIDENZA? Ma cosa c'è da vedere??? - Guida per un weekend
Ci è capitato molte volte, percorrendo l'autostrada, di passare dall'uscita di Fidenza e di chiederci ma cosa c'è da vedere in città?... è ora di scoprirlo!
Abbiamo fatto una passeggiata in centro, dalla torre medievale con merli sia guelfi che ghibellini, fino ad arrivare al Palazzo delle Orsoline dove oggi c'è la biblioteca pubblica e un Museo del Risorgimento che conserva, tra le altre cose, uno dei pochi Album dei Mille mai prodotti. Siamo passati dalla splendida cattedrale romanica di San Donnino, fondata sui primi passi del santo senza testa e siamo entrati nel sontuoso Teatro dedicato a Girolamo Magnani.
Ma siamo anche usciti dal centro di Fidenza per scoprire altre chicche di questo territorio: abbiamo visto come nasce il Parmigiano Reggiano nel caseificio Parma2064, ci siamo persi nel labirinto di bambù più grande del mondo, il Labirinto della Masone, abbiamo incontrato balene vecchie di milioni di anni al MuMAB.
Soprattutto però abbiamo scoperto che Fidenza è al centro della Via Francigena! Quindi abbiamo percorso un pezzetto di questo percorso storico dal centro della città fino a Siccomonte. Una passeggiata di 5km (solo andata) quasi tutti i piano che ci ha dato un assaggio delle bellezze paesaggistiche della zona!

This is a wonderful castle lost in the countryside around the Italian town of Parma. The position is dramatically overlooking the plains downhill, the wheat fields and the river. The castle itself is by far the most amazing I visited. It belonged to a renaissance general who made artists paint the rooms with fantastic frescoes. The rooms embody an amazing fantasy style and they resemble the settings of Lord of the Rings or even Game of Thrones. It's just mind blowing to think they were done during the time of the Renaissance. It's a very romantic place, and the general painted one room with the love story of him and his beloved lady Bianca Pellegrini.

Un tour in questo piccolo gioiello immerso nella pianura padana. Famosa principalmente per la sua cattedrale ostruita tra il XII e il XIII secolo sul percorso della Via Francigena in stile romanico, dedicata a San Donnino ed edificata nel punto in cui, secondo la leggenda, cadde il santo. La leggenda narra di diversi miracoli avvenuti a Fidenza. Il primo sarebbe avvenuto attorno al 296, quando il cubiculario romano Donnino, uomo di fiducia dell'imperatore Massimiano, venne raggiunto da altri soldati romani e decapitato da questi all'ingresso della città, sul ponte romano del torrente Stirone: venne decapitato perché si era convertito alla fede cristiana. Secondo la leggenda, Donnino raccolse la testa e fece alcuni passi prima di cadere nel luogo dove oggi sorge la cattedrale. I cristiani del luogo ne seppellirono il corpo ed iniziarono un attento culto a questo martire della fede.
Un secondo miracolo sembra essere avvenuto nel Medioevo quando lo stesso ponte, citato in precedenza, crollò mentre alcuni pellegrini lo stavano attraversando, rimanendo illesi. Questo miracolo è riportato nei bassorilievi della cattedrale.
Un altro miracolo attribuito a San Donnino avvenne durante i bombardamenti del 1944: il palazzo vescovile, con cui il duomo condivideva una parete, venne completamente raso al suolo, ma la cattedrale restò praticamente intatta. Sempre durante gli stessi bombardamenti la chiesa del quartiere Oriola venne completamente abbattuta, tranne una sottilissima colonna di mattoni che sorreggeva una piccola nicchia contenente una statua della Madonna, conservata oggi nel muro dell'abitazione sorta in quel punto.

FIDENZA - Cattedrale di San Donnino e i bassorilievi di Benedetto Antelami
Il duomo di Fidenza è un complesso architettonico di stile romanico famosa soprattutto per la facciata attribuita a Benedetto Antelami.
Ricopre un particolare ruolo nella storia dell'arte sia a motivo delle sue strutture architettoniche, sia per le sue decorazioni scultoree che riflettono l'evoluzione della scultura romanica nell'area padana e lombarda tra la fine del fine del XII e l'inizio del XIII secolo.
Come altre cattedrali romaniche, presenta in facciata numerosi bassorilievi e alcune statue che si mostrano al pellegrino e al fedele con intenti didascalici, come un libro d'insegnamenti religiosi fatto di immagini. Si tratta di opere scultoree eseguite da Benedetto Antelami e dalla sua scuola tra la fine del XII e l'inizio del XIII secolo; tra esse particolarmente raffinate sono le due statue poste nella nicchie ai due lati del portale maggiore, opere che unanimemente si ritengono direttamente eseguite dal maestro. Il racconto per immagini risulta alquanto complesso e intreccia tra loro l'omaggio alla Gloria di Cristo, con episodi del Vecchio e Nuovo Testamento, con temi cari alla devozione locale (La vita di San Donnino), con riferimenti a tradizioni storiche, leggende e immagini fantastiche care all'uomo medievale.
La parte più bassa della facciata è ricoperta di marmo finemente scolpito, quella più alta è in arenaria. Vi sono tre portoni: quelli laterali sono detti portone della Vita, affiancato da colonne sorrette da arieti, e portone della Morte, affiancato da colonne sorrette da telamoni. Il portone centrale è sorvegliato da due leoni stilofori. Sopra questo portone abbiamo un prezioso bassorilievo raffigurante la vita di san Donnino, santo protettore della città. Nello spazio tra i due portoni minori e quello maggiore vi sono due nicchie nelle quali sono posti due figure bibliche: Ezechiele e Davide.
La chiesa è molto venerata anche perchè Fidenza è stata rasa al suolo dai bombardamenti della seconda guerra mondiale che l'hanno miracolosamente lasciata integra, mentre attorno a lei vi erano solo mucchi di macerie.

Sant'appiano is famous for its wine cellars and for this magnificent church.
Yesterday I biked from A Solatio Winery to Gracciano, where there was the famous Elsa River Parc; I wanted to have a look at this river.
I was a bit amazed about the beauty of the parc itself, but at the same time a bit alarmed by the number of people (in covid time) and worst, the color of the water.. which looked everything BUT natural. I wonder if some chemical s**t makes that wonderful Bahamas-like water.
Before reaching Gracciano, I biked through beautiful places: San Donnino, Petrognano, Sant'Appiano, Linari, the Via Francigena between Poggibonsi and Colle val d'Elsa. All places I strongly recomment you to visit.
Anyway, from Gracciano I then decided to reach Castel di San Gimignano, San Gimignano, Certaldo and back to A Solatio. I was dead tired, probably due to the heat or for having eaten too little the previous days. I was out of energy.

* Ciao ragazzi, come state, oggi parlo di fidenza village outlet spero vi piaccia, beh io e mio marito abbiamo fatto un giro e abbiamo apprezzato molto il tour perché ha molti negozi come Adidas, Pinko, Coach, Armani, Calvin Klein, Prada, Versace altre negozi che mi piacciono come Swarovski, Furla, Guess, Michael Kors, Valentino e molti altri.
A fidenza village possiamo mangiare, divertirci, comprare e anche fare un giro per rilassarci per chi non lo sapesse, fidenza villaggio ha un'app che spiega tutto sul posto, cosa puoi fare dove sono i negozi e quando hanno promozioni, per chi fosse interessato a farne un giro, lascio l'indirizzo qui sotto.
