Just literally *days* after this video was filmed, a trove of 24 bronze statues was discovered during excavations at the ancient Roman baths nearby.
They were also covered by about 6,000 ancient bronze, silver and gold coins, and were in an excellent state of preservation. They were hailed as the most significant find of their kind in 50 years.

San Casciano in Val di Pesa ha un ampio territorio comunale che si estende sulle colline del Chianti fiorentino. Il capoluogo sorge sulla vecchia strada che collega Firenze con Siena e conserva tracce che testimoniano la richezza della sua storia
Con questo video percorriamo le vie di San Casciano e osserviamo le emergenze architettoniche che la contraddistinguono. Come le tracce delle antiche mura, una porta di accesso, un palazzo che fu della famiglia Medici, la centralissima Piazza Pierozzi che altro non è che un largo incrocio. Fuori dalle mura la Piazza della Repubblica, giardino e luogo di incontro dei sancascianesi ove si può godere di un ampio panorama. E a proposito di panorama c'è la curiosa torre panoramica ricavata da una cisterna dell'acqua. E poi le chiese che sono numerose per un paese di campagna e testimoniano l'intensa vita religiosa e civile di San Casciano, come la collegiata di San Cassiano, la chiesa della Misericordia che custodisce tesori di arte inaspettati, la chiesa del Suffragio ancora officiata e nello stesso tempo parte del percorso museale del Museo Giuliano Ghelli. Quindi la chiesa di San Francesco sede attuale di una comunità di suore clarisse, mentre più distante dal centro la chiesa di Sant'Andrea dei frati cappuccini. E infine la pieve di Santa Cecilia a Decimo che dista da San Casciano più o meno un chilometro e da dove si può ammirare le colline intorno con le sue ville e anche il campanile della collegiata.

San Casciano dei Bagni stands on a hill 582 m above sea level. a short distance from the Val d'Orcia, the Valdichiana and the top of Monte Amiata, on the south-eastern edge of the province of Siena.
The birth and development of San Casciano dei Bagni are essentially linked to the presence of thermal waters: 42 springs at an average temperature of 40 ° C with a total flow rate of about 5.5 million liters of water per day, since San Casciano ranks third in Europe in terms of thermal water flow.

Niccolo Machiavelli (1469 - 1527) Secretary of the Florentine Republic in the years 1498-1512 , is one of the largest and most interesting figures of the Renaissance. Writer varied and cultured, reserved his interests above politics, that , first of all , he considered a science in its own right . The House of St. Andrew in Percussina along with several farms belonged to the family of the writer . Here he took refuge after being exiled from Florence in 1512 , when the Medici returned to the city . The farm , with the adjoining tavern Albergaccio , is described in one of his most famous letters , one addressed to his friend Francesco Vettori , dated December 10, 1513 . The letter described his day among the occupations that are derived from the conduct of its properties and evenings spent at the tavern to play backgammon with the innkeeper and butcher 's place . But at night he retired to his library and spends hours reading the classics that inspired a book , written straight in a few months , and entitled De Principatibus : Prince , the work to which he owes his fame. After his death the house passed to his heirs and always pedigrees came to the noble Florentine family of Serristori .
