Chojin de San Sebastian -Comidas de Guatemala - Caldo de Chojin Guatemala
Hola amigos en esta oportunidad estamos conociendo San Sebastian Retalhuleu , en su feria titular que es el 15 al 22 se caracteriza por tener en su menu de bienvenida, un delicioso caldo de carne asada.
Conocido ya mundialmente como Chojin La palabra chojinear proviene del K’iche’ “chojixik” (el verbo chijixik, significa asar) o de las palabras k’iche’s “chojim ti’iij” que significa “carne asada”.
De esas palabras surgió el nombre original del plato típico y tradicional CHOJIM, que la mala pronunciación popular cambió a CHOJIN, (en idioma K'iche' las conjugaciones verbales terminan en M, no en N. Ej: chanim = apresurado; tikom= sembrado; ilom=visto, etc.).
Que desde tiempos inmemoriales identifica a los habitantes de San Sebastián y que sigue siendo un plato imprescindible en las grandes celebraciones.

Every August 18 for the fest of Saint Helena of the Cross, in the city of Santa Cruz del Quiche, Guatemala are celebrated the “Convites”, masquerade dances in the street in honor of the Saint.
Different groups dances across the city with handmade costumes that are inspired by the movies, fantasy and imagination.
A unique celebration that is Cultural Heritage of Guatemala. I was there the last year for the feast of Saint Helena. You can see more about it on my video that I made, in my YouTube Channel.
