Nakhon Si Thammarat (นครศรีธรรมราช) is both a province and city in Southern Thailand. It’s more of an off the beaten path destination that not a lot of people visit, however I think it’s a wonderful city where you can really get a taste of Thai culture and it has an amazing mixture of incredibly delicious Thai food and attractions that you can do.
In this video I’ll give you a full tour of Nakhon Si Thammarat, we’ll eat at some of the best Thai restaurants in the city and visit some of the most famous attractions all in a single day of food and fun!

What to do in Sakon Nakhon, northeast of Thailand?
Explore the hidden treasure in this northeast city of Thailand with Nong Joe and Nong Ja.

Sakon Nakhon is located on far northeast place, which contains 3rd biggest lake in Thailand.
You can enjoy the lake, lotus (between Dec to Feb), church, and temples in or near the city central.
Wat Tham Pha Daen is 45 minutes far from the city, but it is really interesting place. Even if you are not fan of temple (me either actually), better to visit if you are in Sakon Nakhon.

Sakon Nakhon North East Thailand สกลนคร | Cinematic Travel Film
I was thinking of doing another How much does it cost style video for Sakon Nakhon, Thailand. However with the lukewarm response of my previous two videos, Pattaya & Bangkok, I thought I would make this a cinematic travel film instead.

My inspiration came from watching Kraig Adams, with slow music and camera movement on one end, disrupt the rhythm then followed by another slow sequence.
I enjoyed making this piece but I must say that I did not shoot this with the intention to make it cinematic. There are quite a bit of footage with did not make it because it just cannot fit in.
It is my second year in film making, which I have only made about 10-15 piece of video. There is so much to learn but more importantly going out and make mistakes is better than not doing at all (fear of making mistakes).

Wat Phra That Choeng Chum, Sakon Nakhon - Thailand 4K Travel Channel
On the way to Nakhon Phanom, our guide would like to show us a famous temple, Wat Phra That Choeng Chum. It is in Sakon Nakhon, a city with approx. 54,000 inhabitants and the capital of the province of the same name. Sakon Nakhon lies on the western edge of the lowland plain of the Mekong at the Nong-Han lake. With an area of 125 km², the Lake Nong Han is the largest natural lake of north-east Thailand.
Wat Phra That Choeng Chum is the city's most important landmark. A Chedi, called That here, is the central sanctuary. The term That comes from the Laotian, and denotes a quadrangular Chedi.
The That is 24 m high and houses a prang from the 10th century. At that time, the region belonged to the Khmer empire with the capital Angkor. Supposedly, the That was erected above the footprints of the four incarnations of the Buddha. The local population worships the shrine.
Our guide is competent and helpful but also has a tendency of missionizing. He takes Ursula's hand and goes with her to a monk to be blessed by him.
Then he says that she should give the monk a small donation, that is, money. Ursula was a little stunned, but she followed the instructions.
The monk sits in front of a well-known Buddha statue, the Luang Phor Phra Ong Saen, presumably from the year 1257.
A bridal pair in precious robes uses a prayer hall as a backdrop for his wedding pictures.
Meanwhile one calls the monks for the common prayer.
The day draws to a close and we have to get back on our way. We reach Nakhon Phanom after dark.

Auf dem Weg nach Nakhon Phanom möchte unser Reiseführer uns noch einen berühmten Tempel, Wat Phra That Choeng Chum zeigen. Er ist in Sakon Nakhon, eine Stadt mit ca. 54.000 Einwohnern und die Hauptstadt der gleichnamigen Provinz.
Sakon Nakhon liegt am westlichen Rand der Tiefebene des Mekong am Nong-Han-See. Mit einer Fläche von 125 km² ist der Nong-Han-See der größte natürliche See Nordost-Thailands.
Wat Phra That Choeng Chum ist die größte Sehenswürdigkeit der Stadt. Ein Chedi, hier That genannt, bildet das zentrale Heiligtum. Der Begriff That stammt aus dem Laotischen und bezeichnet einen viereckig ausgeführten Chedi.
Der That ist 24 m hoch und beherbergt im Inneren einen Prang aus dem 10. Jahrhundert. Damals gehörte die Region zum Khmer Reich mit der Hauptstadt Angkor. Angeblich wurde der That über den Fußabdrücken der vier Inkarnationen des Buddha errichtet. Das Heiligtum wird von der heimischen Bevölkerung sehr verehrt.
Unser Führer ist sehr kompetent und hilfreich, hat aber auch einen leichten Hang zum Missionieren. Er nimmt Ursula an die Hand und geht mit ihr zu einem Mönch, um sich von ihm segnen zu lassen.
Anschließend meint er, dass man dem Mönch dafür eine kleine Gabe, sprich Geld geben soll. Ursula war etwas überrumpelt, befolgte aber die Anweisung.
Der Mönch sitzt vor einer bekannten Buddha Statue, der Luang Phor Phra Ong Saen, die angeblich aus dem Jahr 1257 stammt.
Ein Hochzeitspaar in kostbaren Gewändern nutzt eine Gebetshalle als Kulisse für seine Hochzeitsbilder.
In der Zwischenzeit werden die Mönche zum gemeinsamen Gebet zusammengerufen.
Der Tag neigt sich dem Ende zu und wir müssen uns wieder auf den Weg machen. Wir erreichen Nakhom Phanom bereits nach Einbruch der Dunkelheit.
