Hello from Rio de Janeiro! This was our first stop in Brazil and we were very excited to check out the top attractions, sample Brazilian cuisine, and squeeze in a little bit of beach time. We had an action packed week exploring the different neighbouhoods and trying everything from churrasco to brigadeiro, so we decided to film a city guide along the way. 25 Things to do in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil Travel Guide and Top Attractions Transcript:
First up, we started with the city’s most iconic sight: Christ Redeemer. We boarded the train as soon as the station opened and made our way to the top of Corcovado Mountain. Sometimes the statue can be shielded by fog, but we lucked out with beautiful blue skies and panoramic views of the city as far as the eye could see.
For a bit of colour, we headed over to the Selaron Steps, which is a tiled staircase created by Chilean artist, Jorge Selarón. Initially Selaron would scavenge construction sites looking for tiles, but in later years as his work gained notoriety, travellers began donating tiles.
Since we chose to stay in the neighbourhood of Ipanema, we ended up spending quite a bit of time at Ipanema Beach. We noticed that this beach was really popular for beach football, volleyball, and surfing. And of course, what makes this beach so iconic are its two mountains, known as Dois Irmãos. If you come here on a clear day, you can catch a killer sunset.
No visit to Rio de Janeiro would be complete without heading up Sugarloaf Mountain, so when the skies finally cleared that’s exactly what we did. We paid for our tickets and boarded the cable car for a somewhat unnerving ride up. If you’re scared of heights, this probably isn’t the attraction for you, however, if you manage to make it to the top you get some really cool panoramic views of Rio.
Copacabana Beach is the most famed beach in all of Rio de Janeiro and if you were to visit on a weekend during the summer months you’d find that the place is packed beyond belief. We happened to be here in winter so things were a lot more relaxed, but that didn’t stop visitors from braving the waters.
We did a favela tour to Babilônia and Chapéu Mangueira. On our tour we saw lots of street art, learned about life inside a favela.

EV1 Portugal Silver Coast - Episode 4
Fourth and final episode of the Silver Coast bycicle trip from Figueira da Foz to Lisbon, In this day we went from Ericeira to Cascais (Lisbon).
After we started our jorney at Ericeira, we entered in a busy National road, with some traffic and no shoulder (and Uphill!!), thanks God it was just a few km´s.
At a small village called Carvoeira, we turned west, towards the ocean side again, and away from traffic.
Baleia, Assafora, Amoreira, São João das Lampas, Bolembre de Cima, Bolembre........................................................................And so on, we reached our Lunch spot, at a tiny little village, Azenhas do Mar was its name. For the summer for sure it is a really curious nook, if the Ocean waters are calmer.
From Azenhas do Mar we did not leave the sea shore anymore, at least we were quite close to it for the rest of the day.
Some highlights of the afternoon, Praia das Maçãs historic tramway, which connects that coastal village to the very known Sintra historic Village. Unfortunatelly we did not ran on it, but for the summer it is a remarkable activity to do at Lisbon outskirts.
Later on the day, we reached Cabo da Roca lighthouse, under super mad crosswinds. At some point we were spat by the gusts to the other side of the road, thanks God there was not much traffic. Cabo da Roca lighthouse is the westerner point of the European continent, if we do not count the islands. At a certain way, it was one of our goals for the trip. Untill 14th century it was considered the end of the world, due to the strong winds (not a surprise) and the steep cliffs.
From there we climbed a little bit more, righ before to start a huge downhill of 6 km (3.73 Miles), where we went down 250 mt high (820 ft). In those 6 km, the landscape drastically changed from the greenish Sintra forests to the yellow sandy beaches (allusion to the yellowish environment). At some point we crossed a stretch that looked like a sandstorm. It was funny anyway,
The last 10 km´s (6.20 Miles), were ran over a nice cyclepath always side by side with the ocean, untill we finally reached Cascais, finishing like this almost the totality of the portuguese Atlantic Coast.
It was a day marked by the wind and the sands from Africa, and of course reaching the End of the world by bycicle it is not for everyone :D

Está inserida no Parque Natural de Sintra-Cascais, possuindo diversos pontos de interesse naturais.
É uma praia de tipo 3, equipada e de uso condicionado, considerada de mar perigoso.

Praia da Samarra - Sintra, beleza deslumbrante
- A Praia da Samarra é uma pequena baía paradisíaca situada entre duas falésias, permitindo assim aos seus visitantes uma privacidade extra e um contacto próximo com a diversa fauna e flora ali existente.
Esta praia não é vigiada, tem poucas condições em termos de restaurantes, conforto, estacionamentos e em relação aos seus acessos, são complicados de fazer e só através da Assáfora.
Mesmo não sendo perfeita para passar um bom dia de praia, como o conhecemos, é excelente para os amantes do mergulho, pesca com linha e até para visitantes de BTT, aproveitando os montes em seu redor.
NOTA: Como esta praia está abandonada pelas autoridades tem muito lixo e moscas, e o areal está com muitas algas, o que considero um erro das autoridades de Sintra.
