Visit the Portimão museum if you want to learn more about its fishing and canning tradition, or go to the medieval Fort of Santa Catarina de Ribamar for panoramic views. But the biggest draw is undoubtedly Portimão’s nearby Praia da Rocha.
8. Faro & Ria Formosa
From cobblestone streets and cozy squares to a wide range of lagoons and wetlands, Faro boasts a blend of city and nature activities. We really enjoyed a boat tour in the Ria Formosa Natural Park, which is home to canals, marshland and small islands.

With wide-open beaches and sheer sea cliffs, the West Coast of the Algarve is a true hidden gem. It’s also another prime destination for surfing. We recommend Arrifana Beach if you’re a beginner or intermediate surfer.
6. Fishermen’s Village Ferragudo
With its white houses reaching down to the river, walking around this authentic fishing town is an experience in itself. But Praia Grande is also a great place to relax and enjoy watersports.
5. Lagos & Ponta da Piedade
Lagos has a wide range of cafés and restaurants to choose from, but also some historical sights, such as castle walls, churches, and a fort. Combine this with its spectacular coastline, filled with steep cliffs, caves, and grottoes, and you’ve got one of the most scenic destinations in the Algarve.

4. Serra de Monchique
Apart from beautiful beaches, the Algarve is also home to a rolling mountain range. The town of Monchique lies in pristine nature, surrounded by lush green forests. It’s an idyllic and authentic mountain town with sweeping vistas and a network of nature trails.

3. Silves
This historic town cascades down the hill, flowing out from beneath the beautiful Silves Castle (Castelo de Silves). Enjoy your time learning about the town’s history inside the castle walls as well as on the cobbled streets surrounding it.
2. The 7 Hanging Valleys
This 12km out-and-back hike takes between 4 to 6 hours to complete if you do the full route, and includes views of the Atlantic ocean as well as limestone rock formations. There is some elevation gain and loss as you climb up and down each of the valleys, but overall the hike is easy to moderate.

The Benagil Cave is a world-class natural attraction in the Algarve. Although it’s only a short distance from Benagil Beach, you still need a kayak, stand up paddle board, or guided boat tour to reach the caves safely.

Festival of St John aka Saint John's Eve aka Festa de São João is celebrated every year from the night of June 23rd to the 24th. This party is all about grilled sardines, plastic hammers, lanterns, and fireworks. It is a must experience! Coming from New York we were concerned about large crowds but we were surprised by how respectful everyone was. Even though people were drinking right on the streets, we did not see anyone acting out of control.

In this video, I have shared São João Celebration night. São João Festival is a joyful and exuberant celebration that brings communities together to honor St. John and enjoy a night of music, dancing, delicious food, and traditional customs. It's a time when the city of Porto, in particular, bursts with energy and creates lasting memories for both locals and visitors alike.This celebration is for Festas de São João which is an annual traditional festival that takes place in several cities across Portugal.
It takes place annually on the night of June 23rd to June 24th and is deeply rooted in Portuguese culture.
The streets of Porto come alive with vibrant celebrations, as people flood the city center. One of the iconic traditions of São João Festival is the custom of hammering.
At midnight, as a part of the celebrations, people release thousands of illuminated hot air balloons into the sky. Fireworks are an integral part of São João Festival. As the night progresses, stunning fireworks light up the sky, creating a beautiful spectacle for all to enjoy.
People gather around outdoor grills, where they cook and enjoy fresh sardines, along with other traditional Portuguese delicacies and local wines.
São João Festival also features lively street markets, where vendors sell traditional crafts, souvenirs, local products, and various treats. It's a great opportunity to explore Portuguese culture during summer season.

The Douro international natural park covers the area where the river Douro forms the border between Portugal and Spain.
The park's symbol is the Egyptian Vulture, one of the most emblematic species in the region. The Park has great lithological diversity, composed of granite and schist formations, which originate rocky outcrops of considerable geomorphological interest. Huge quartzite cliffs overhanging the water lines are frequent, forming natural viewpoints of great scenic value.

O símbolo do parque é o Abutre-do-Egito, uma das espécies mais emblemáticas da região. São Pedro do Estoril is a village in the parish of Cascais and Estoril , Cascais municipality , in Portugal . Located on the Atlantic coast , at the eastern end of the parish, its rugged coastline gives way to a small bay where a homonymous beach is located. It borders on the west with São João do Estoril (Castelinho Nossa Senhora de Fátima [ 1 ] ), on the north with Murtal and on the east with Parede , the latter belonging to the parish of Carcavelos and Parede .

This trip was actually fairly spontaneous as my friend and I were looking for a cheap, exciting place to travel to at the end of July, 2021 and Lisbon just happened to fall into our lap. It was cheap, it was by the water and it was just 3 hour flight. Could we ask for anything better.
So, we booked our flight. I was excited because it was my first visit to Portugal.
I Used Mavic Air 2 Drone, Gopro 7 and Canon 6d Camera for shots.
