Where to Stay in Roxas?
Where do you stay in Roxas? Good question :)
It's a little town with not many accommodation options. Mainly small guest houses and Air B&B found in the town. There is not a huge presence of tourists and we used the town as a one night stop over on our road trip. We manage to squeeze in Modessa Island which was a great day activity recommended to us by the locals. This video shows you an aerial view of the town and the accommodation offering of the Ocean Manor Inn.

When you hear Palawan, you'll immediately think of white powdery sand, beautiful beaches and scenic islands.
In today's video, we'll be exploring the magnificent islands of Palawan and some of its spectacular tourist destinations.
Being the largest province in the country in terms of land area, Palawan is home to roughly 1,780 islands and islets, and is blessed with some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
In fact, Palawan in the Philippines has been recognised several times as the best island in the world by international based travel magazines.
This is no surprise since Palawan is rich in natural beauty.
Its landscapes and scenery are breathtaking and it offers the most stunning beaches and resorts.
The islands of Palawan might not be the easiest to reach, but it's absolutely one of the best places to explore.
Palawan is accessible via sea and air travel. You can take the ferry from Manila going to Palawan which has around 24 hours travel time or just an hour and 30 minutes direct flight from Manila to Palawan.

Capiz is home to the eponymous Capiz shells (Placuna placenta) locally known as pi-os. That is why it is not surprising to see an abundance of locally-crafted Capiz shell products for sale here. This largely uncharted province in Western Visayas is oozing with immaculate beaches, majestic caves and mouth-watering seafood!
Interestingly, Capiz was the second Spanish settlement established by the Spaniards after San Miguel, Cebu. Upon arrival at Pan-ay, Captain Diego de Artienda who was sent by Miguel Lopez de Legazpi declared the town the capital of the province which was later transferred to Capiz town (present-day Roxas City) because of its strategic (coastal) location for trade and naval defense.
Today, Capiz is a thriving city sprinkled with some remnants of its glorious heyday and makes for a perfect escape from the crowd-magnet Boracay.

Is Roxas the Maldives of the Philippines? The kidney sandbar and island hopping certainly give it that feel, but you can forget the luxury resorts.
Instead, in the southern coast of Roxas, you will find only a few bungalow type resorts, boardering villages with traditions dating back to the 19th century. Hand thatched roof weaving, crab fishing, and micro agriculture bind this community of roughly 200 people. They are fairly well self-sustained, with a church, school, markets, and a whole lot of faith in their neighbors support. It's amazing to see communities such as these that believe in the value of community and survive because of it.
Aside from the village excursions, you can certainly partake in some of the traditional sight seeing and adventure tourism. Spend the day Island hopping to the kidney sand bar, Howley Island and explore the vast untouched reefs and mangroves either by kayak or snorkeling. Roxas is a great site for diving as it hasn't yet been destroyed by over use and the majority of the coral is still living. Maybe take a day trip over to Port Barton or Papawyan falls. Whatever you decide you will not be disappointed with a couple days in the Roxas Jungle....assuming you bring plenty of sunscreen and bug repellent.
