Pangasinan is a destination for tourists who wish to explore islands and beaches, waterfalls, and feast on tasty local cuisine - all just 3-4 hours of drive from Manila. SM City Rosales is a shopping mall owned by SM Prime Holdings located along MacArthur Highway in barangay Carmen East, Rosales, Pangasinan. It opened on November 28, 2008, and is the first SM Supermall in the province of Pangasinan and in Ilocos Region. The mall has a land area of 121,685 m2 (1,309,810 sq ft) and a total gross floor area of 60,989 m2 (656,480 sq ft).
TYPHOON PARMA DEVASTATION:
On October 8, 2009, the mall was not spared from Typhoon Pepeng as floodwaters entered the ground level of the mall. Merchandise and fixtures owned by the mall's anchor stores and tenants were swept away by the raging flood caused by torrential rains brought by the typhoon. Around 1,000 people, including a pregnant woman, were stranded inside the mall complex. The mall's rooftop became a drop-off point for the rescue workers that were deployed to bring relief goods to the affected residents in the nearby areas.
Barely two months after being devastated, the shopping mall re-opened to the public on November 27, 2009.
TRANSPORTATION:
The mall contains a Public Transport Terminal, with vans, jeepney, and tricycle service to nearby areas. It also serves as a bus stop for inter-provincial bus lines.

IBTOR Challenge is a yearly festival held every 28th day of December in Rosales, Pangasinan. This festival has been awarded as The best Tourism Event in the field of Sports&Adventure Category in the Municipal level last 2009 during the 10th National Convention of Association odf Tourism officers of the Phils.(ATOP) held at Gen. Santos, City Philippines, despite that the event was just a newbie since it was launched last 2008. IBTOR was adopted from the word IBTOR which is an Ilocano term means endurance and strength., the acronym stands for Inter-barangay Triathlon of Rosales, the Event was exclusively for local folks for its launching but, it was already open to all and participants must be in pairs. The challenge is a triathlon match of the three sports disciplines: swimming, cycling and running, Its promotes the Rosalenians awareness of their culture and identiity................

It is generally believed that Balungao was officially founded in the year 1815. The town was still a part of Cuyapo, Nueva Ecija but, considering its geographical location, it was segregated from the township of Cuyapo, Nueva Ecija in the later part of the 18th century. Shortly after the revolution, it was annexed to the Municipality of Rosales and it was then named “Panaclaban”. However, by virtue of a Spanish Royal Family Decree, Balungao became an independent town.
The town of Balungao got its unique name from a young widowed, beautiful lass. People were fascinated by her beauty and soon named her “BALUN-UGAW” in the native dialect, meaning “young widower”. So the place became famous on the tongues of many – whenever one goes to this place, they would call it “BALUNGAO”, derived from the word “BALUN-UGAW”.
