Roermond is a city, a municipality, and a diocese in the southeastern part of the Netherlands.
Roermond is an historically important town, on the lower Roer at the east bank of the Meuse river. It received town rights in 1231. Roermond town centre has been designated as a conservation area.
Through the centuries the town has filled the role of commercial centre, principal town in the duchy of Guelders and since 1559 it has served as the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Roermond. The skyline of the historic town is dominated by the towers of its two churches: St. Christopher Cathedral and Roermond Minster or 'Munsterkerk' in Dutch. In addition to important churches, the town centre has many listed buildings and monuments.
Where before Celtic inhabitants of this region used to live on both sides of the Roer river, invading Romans built a bridge (now called the Steene Brök, or stone bridge) and founded the first town at Roermond, now a suburb called Voorstad Sint Jacob.

Roermond is a city, municipality, and diocese in the Limburg province of the Netherlands. Roermond is a historically important town on the lower Roer on the east bank of the river Meuse. It received town rights in 1231. Roermond's town centre has become a designated conservation area.

It is located about 45 km south east of Eindhoven, 70 km south of Nijmegen, 40 km north east of Maastricht and 50 km west of Düsseldorf.

The town is located at the confluence of the Rur (Dutch: Roer) and the Meuse on the right bank of the Meuse. The city centre is located directly on the Rur. The municipal area essentially consists of the approximately five-kilometre-wide strip between the Meuse and the border with Germany. As a result of gravel removal, numerous interconnected lakes have been created in the municipal area, the Maasplassen (Meuse lakes or Meuse ponds). The approximately 3000 hectare area is the largest inland water sports area in the Netherlands. Geology[edit | edit source] Roermond is located in the earthquake zone of the Bay of Cologne. On 13 April 1992, four kilometres southwest of the city, was the epicentre of the Roermond earthquake, an earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale. It was the strongest earthquake in Central Europe since 1756. Districts[edit | edit source] Roermond is divided into a total of 36 districts. At the beginning of 2007, the neighbouring municipality of Swalmen to the north with 8790 inhabitants was incorporated. The area of the municipality increased considerably from 46.87 to 71.19 km² as a result of the incorporation. The ten districts have the following populations: PERSIAN The city is located at the mouth of the Rur the Meuse on the right bank of the Meuse. The city centre is located directly on the Rur. The municipal area essentially consists of the approximately five-kilometre-wide strip between the Meuse and the border with Germany. Diesmal waren wir für euch ein bisschen in den Niederlanden unterwegs. Den meisten ist Roermond wahrscheinlich durch das Outlet Center bekannt. Dieses haben wir auch besucht, aber nicht gefilmt dort.
Wir können euch aber auch die Altstadt sehr empfehlen. Vom Outlet Center in die Stadt sind es ca. 8 Gehminuten. Parken könnt ihr für 3 Euro / Tag am Outlet Center.
