10 Things to do in Porto, Portugal Travel Guide Video Transcript: (OPORTO)

Lisbon is beautiful, but Porto is magical. We arrived in Porto with our taxi driver’s words still ringing in our ears, and we’re happy to say, the city did not disappoint!

Our time in Porto was spent sipping on Port wine, soaking in the views across the Douro River, wandering through the hilly streets, and marvelling at buildings covered in blue tiles.

In this travel guide, we’re going to share a little bit of Porto’s magic with you, and also show you some of the things you too can see, eat, and drink when you visit Porto!

Known as the Chapel of Souls, this church is covered in tiles that represent moments in the life of Saint Francis of Assisi and Saint Catherine.

This bookstore is a feast for the eyes. The bookstore was even frequented by JK Rowling when she taught English in Porto, and it’s reported to have been an inspiration in her Harry Potter series.

We continued our walk downhill until we reached the São Bento Train Station.

Porto Cathedral is one of the oldest landmarks in the city with cloisters where the walls are covered in blue tiles.

We reached the neighbourhood of Ribeira, which sits right on the shores of the Douro River. This neighbourhood is lined with many sidewalk cafes, bars, and restaurants, so it’s a nice place to rest your legs and do a bit of people watching. Feeling hungry we wandered down some of the back streets until we found a small restaurant serving up local specialities.

We made time for one more attraction: the Church of Saint Francis.

The Bridge we had all been waiting for was Dom Luis the first Bridge, which spans the Douro River. The lower deck carries regular traffic with narrow walkways for those on foot, and the upper deck is reserved for pedestrians and the metro lines.

For the best views of Porto, you need to walk the upper deck!

There was only one thing on our minds: visit one of the many wineries that line this side of the river! We ended up walking into Croft for a wine tasting without need for an appointment, and this turned out to be one of our favourite activities in Porto!

Filled to the brim with port wine, cheese and chocolate, we enjoyed a light stroll along the Douro River, watching the boats bob in the water.

That’s a wrap for our visit to Porto! We hope you guys enjoyed following along and that you got a few ideas for your own trip. If you have any other suggestions of fun things to do in and around Porto, feel free to share those with travellers in the comments below.

This is part of our Travel in Portugal video series showcasing Portuguese food, Portuguese culture and Portuguese cuisine.

TRANSCRIPT:
There is a secret place,

- in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.

A lush volcanic rock,

- that few people know about.

It's called Madeira,

- but is it really a secret?

Well, as you can see there is an airport here,

- but there are no airplanes!

That's of course not true.

Madeira has been a popular travel destination for many years,

- but it's still widely undiscovered compared to the Canary Islands,

- Crete and Mallorca, Madeira barely exists.

And that's why we made this video.

We think this is Europe's best island,

- and the last secret paradise!

Welcome to paradise!

And that's also why we live here.

We have a hundred hours to show you all the things,

- that makes Madeira a true bucket list destination.

We will also show you how to travel this island,

- so you might want to bookmark this one.

There are four things that makes Madeira a paradise.

Fantastic weather.

Amazing food.

Epic nature.

And wonderful places to stay.

You have world-class luxury hotels here.

How about this breakfast view at Cliff Bay?

Or this pool at Les Suites?

This is probably the greatest hotel room on Madeira.

Funchal is the only big city on Madeira.

How about the tuna of your dreams in the old town?

Or the world's best chicken piri piri at Hoyo Hoyo?

Welcome to Il Gallo D'oro, guys.

This is a two star Michelin restaurant,

Madeira even produces both red and white wine.

- they actually cheered in Madeira wine.

It is truly wonderful to try this creative take on the Madeiran food,

- but honestly we need to talk about the traditional food as well.

This is a prego,

- and this is the Madeiran answer to a steak sandwich.

What about espetada?

Lapas?

The original Madeira hamburger?

Or picado?

It's perfect warm-up for tomorrow's sunrise hike, you know.

For getting around Madeira we suggest you rent a car or scooter,

- but since you most certainly will fall in love with the delicious poncha,

- you can also hire a driver.

And this is Lido. A perfect place to go for a stroll,

- and to have the best Italian food here on this island.

And this incredible restaurant is located on the beautiful Villa Porto Mare Hotel.

We made it to the garden of Monte Palace, guys,

- and usually people will come by the cable cars that go from the city center of Funchal.

This place is a magical fairy tale world with so much history that you must visit.

In wintertime you can literally go from snow on the mountain top to tropical ocean life.

On our way to the old town we bumped into the Tobaggan sleds.

This is such a cool experience and definitely worth doing.

It might come as a surprise that Funchal has this authentic pure European charm.

Here are three more things you must do in Funchal.

Number one is to go for a Madeira wine tasting at Blandy's.

Go have a poncha at our favorite place.

And also walk the Piornais levada,

As you will fall in love with the old town,

- consider also staying at the Porto Santo Maria hotel.

- for an early sunrise hike at Pico Ruivo.

Things to do in Huelva in Spain!

Here is our top 10, enjoy!

Huelva: The Gateway to Andalusia

Huelva is a province located in the southwestern region of Spain, in the autonomous community of Andalusia. It is known for its natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and significant historical landmarks. In this essay, we will explore the history, culture, and attractions of Huelva, and discover why it is a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Andalusia.

Historical Overview:

The history of Huelva is deeply intertwined with the region's strategic location on the Atlantic Ocean. The province has been inhabited since prehistoric times, with the Tartessians and Phoenicians being the earliest recorded settlers. In the Middle Ages, the province was ruled by the Moors, who left a significant cultural legacy in the form of architecture, art, and cuisine.

During the 15th century, Huelva played a crucial role in the exploration and colonization of the Americas. Christopher Columbus set sail from the city of Huelva on his first voyage to the New World, and the province became a major hub of commerce and trade with the Americas.

Culture and Traditions:

The culture of Huelva is a reflection of the region's rich and diverse history. The province is home to a vibrant and colorful mix of cultures, languages, and traditions, with influences from the Moors, the Phoenicians, and the Spanish.

One of the most important cultural traditions in Huelva is the flamenco dance. Flamenco is a unique and expressive art form that originated in Andalusia, and it is characterized by its passionate rhythms, intricate footwork, and emotional intensity. The flamenco dance is deeply ingrained in the culture of Huelva, and it is an important part of the region's cultural heritage.

Another important cultural tradition in Huelva is the annual pilgrimage to El Rocío. The pilgrimage takes place every year in May, and it attracts thousands of pilgrims from all over Andalusia and Spain. The pilgrimage is a deeply spiritual and emotional experience, and it is a testament to the strong and enduring faith of the people of Huelva.

Huelva is also known for its delicious and distinctive cuisine, which reflects the region's diverse cultural influences. Some of the most popular dishes in Huelva include the jamón ibérico, the coquinas, the arroz con bogavante, and the choco frito.

Attractions:

Huelva has a wealth of attractions to offer visitors, from stunning natural landscapes to significant historical landmarks. The province is home to several natural parks and reserves, including the Doñana National Park, the Sierra de Aracena Natural Park, and the Marismas del Odiel Natural Park.

The Doñana National Park is one of the most important natural reserves in Europe, and it is home to a wide range of flora and fauna, including the endangered Iberian lynx. The park offers visitors a chance to explore its pristine beaches, vast wetlands, and dense forests, and it is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in nature and wildlife.

The Sierra de Aracena Natural Park is another important natural attraction in Huelva. The park is home to several picturesque villages, including Aracena, Alájar, and Fuenteheridos, and it offers visitors a chance to explore the region's rich and diverse natural beauty.

Huelva is also home to several important historical landmarks, including the La Rábida Monastery, the Riotinto Mines, and the Casa Colón.

The La Rábida Monastery is a beautiful and historic monastery located on the outskirts of Huelva.

Portugal, LISBON: Baixa de Lisboa, Praça do Comércio, Mercado da Ribeira

Hello Portugal! Lisbon has one very famous flat area downtown called Baixa de Lisboa (or simply Baixa), which is full of things to do and perfect to walk around. This is what you'll see in this video. We start at Praça do Comércio (Commerce square), then go up the Rua Augusta Arch, walk along Rua Augusta, where we enjoy wine tasting and ice cream.

After a quick stop at Elevador de Santa Justa, the famous elevator connecting Baixa to Chiado, we walk to Rossio square. In this square, they have the pavement that inspired sidewalks all over the world. Finally, we cross Baixa again towards Cais do Sodré, walk along Pink Street (probably the most famous street for the after-party nightlife in Lisbon), and arrive at the historic Mercado da Ribeira, where today you find the trendy Time Out Market. Here you can sample dishes prepared by top Portuguese chefs in a friendly and fun atmosphere.

Detailed Lisbon travel guide:
(subscribe not to miss the upcoming videos ????)
This trip to Lisbon was before the pandemic.

Lisbon is the capital and largest city of Portugal, with about 3 million people living in the metropolitan area. This is more than a quarter of the entire population of Portugal. It is located on the Iberian Peninsula, where the river Tagus meets the Atlantic Ocean. Lisbon is mainland Europe's westernmost capital city and the only one along the Atlantic coast.

I am a Brazilian-American journalist living in Florida. After traveling the world working with sports, news, and events for over 15 years, I realized that what I really love is the travel part of it all. So I exchanged life in the newsrooms and stadiums for the daily challenge of being an independent content producer. I created this channel to share the beauties of the world... stuff that for so long I only kept to myself.

Restaurante rio tinto Casa Blanca bueno o malo?

Lunes a Domingo 12:30 a 18:00 horas.

Ohhh.. So that is why they are called RIO TINTO!! FIFOLIFE!

We live in Western Australia and it is a mining state.. I love the history of these big mining companies, why they are who they are.. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to visit Huelva is South Western Spain to visit the ancestral home of Rio Tinto!

Who does not feel like a child watching at a distance the steamy little train arriving? This is possible thanks to the Río Tinto Foundation. Everything here is like being in a film: seating in the same seats used by travellers more than one century ago, listen to the same noises, smell the same smells...In this station your travel in time starts!
