That’s why many people don’t have an idea of what living in Northern Ireland, the fourth province of the UK is. This time, we want to discuss the 10 best places to live in Northern Ireland.

10. Newtownards
Newtownards is a town, townland, and civil parish in County Down. It’s not far from Strangford Lough, another one of the best places to live in Northern Ireland that would be discussed later. Newtownards is at the northernmost tip of Strangford Lough. It is also 10 miles east of Belfast on the Ards Peninsula.
When Newtownards hit the headline on July 17, 2021, it was about the townland of Ballywatticock toward Mount Stewart, where temperature peaked 31.2 °C at 15:40. Play area incorporates a sea theme due to the coastal location.There are 25 items of play that are a range of timber, steel and robinia items of play equipment to cater for toddlers, junior and the more senior adventurous users. The sea theme of the play area incorporates the Sandymount Beach location next to it.
IRISH TOWN NATURE PARK:
Irishtown Nature Park is a small man-made park between Irishtown and Sandymount Strand in Dublin 4, Ireland that offers several kilometres of walking trails along the Poolbeg Peninsula.
HISTORY:
The park was devised during a building boom in the 1970s, where rubble and waste were dumped in its current location. The Sandymount and Merrion Residents Association suggested turning the waste dump into a nature reserve. During the 1980s, Dublin Corporation, along with local residents, developed the park and planted seeds, trees, and tall grasses.
HOW TO REACH THERE?
The nature park can be accessed in two locations. An offroad path located on Beach Road, opposite Marine Drive, meanders across the edge of Sandymount Strand for 1.4 kilometres up to the park entrance. A second entrance is located on Pigeon House Road near the Poolbeg Generating Station.
FAUNA:
Many species of birds including skylarks, linnets, dunnocks, stonechats, herons, and Brent geese visit the park every year. The park is also home to the Pyramidal orchid, red-tailed bumblebee, and a rare beetle, Oedemera lurida.

The River Dodder rises in the mountains south of Dublin | The Dodder fishing permit Dublin Ireland.
It then flows in a north-easterly direction for 14 miles through the southern side of the city before entering the Irish Sea at Dublin Bay. This river has a reasonable stock of brown trout which is complemented by stocking. In addition, the Dodder has a small stock of sea trout. Fishing is best between Old Bawn in Tallaght and Ballsbridge. Sea trout fishing can be found downstream of Ballsbridge. Annual stocking of the river with brown trout from 4 oz to over 1 lb. is carried out by the local angling club.
Membership and permits:
The juvenile membership in the club is high and young anglers are very much encouraged to join. The stretches recommended for fishing are located at Herbert Park in Ballsbridge to Beaver Row in Donnybrook. In addition, the stretch from Milltown to Rathfarnham is also worth a try. The Milltown to Rathfarnham section is very accessible with a linear park all the way along this stretch. There are footbridges across the river at various points. So crossing the river is not a problem. Parking is mostly off-road.
Licences, sea-trout and regulations :
Sea trout fishing can be good on the lower reaches in late summer (please note the salmon and sea trout regulations). Anglers fishing for sea trout must have a salmon licence. In the tidal area near Ringsend some fine specimen mullet were recorded in recent years. Fishing on this river is controlled by the Dodder Anglers and riparian owners.

Access to fisheries
Access does not imply a right of way and anglers should ensure that, they have the necessary permission to enter or cross private lands. Where possible anglers should walk along the river bank.
Country code
Anglers should ensure that gates are closed and that fences are not broken or damaged. Care should be taken with crops and livestock. Litter must not be discarded and no fires are allowed. Vehicles should be parked in designated areas and in such a manner that they do not cause obstruction.

What's a REAL Irish pub like in the evening? Check out the madness at 'Donoghue's Pub, Dublin.
We're in Merrion Row in South Dublin at one of the liveliest pubs in the city. Brace yourself for a very, very busy bar experience. If you don’t like craic verging on the point of rowdiness, then this isn’t the place for you.
O’Donoghue’s is one of Dublin’s famous pubs. For those watching outside Ireland who are accustomed to “Irish Pubs” as they are defined abroad – this is the real thing. An Irish pub that has been packing them in for years.
We’re going to start by visiting the beer garden and then we’ll get into the main public house. It’s actually not so much a beer garden as you can see as it’s roofed, but this does have the feel of an outside space. Bear in mind that this is April, and not summertime.
I’ve made quite a few films about various Irish Pubs and often I shoot the film during the day, so that you can actually see the space, the furniture etc. But this film is to give viewers, especially foreign viewers, an idea of what to expect from a pub in an Irish city after dark. It can get a bit mad.
Having said that, this part of the pub is a little quieter – this seems to be the place where the couples come for a quieter pint.
Anyway, into the main bar. As you can see there’s not a lot of room here – chances are you’ll end up standing if you get here late. But, this is where it all happens – where Dublin’s socialising is done. Admittedly it has its fair share of tourists these days, but by and large we’ve a lot of locals in tonight. A good atmosphere.
This is actually quite a famous music bar – well known on Dublin’s traditional music scene. In fact the Irish folk group The Dubliners is alleged to have been formed here, and the pub has hosted many other big names in Irish music over the years – many of whom adorn the walls in these portraits that you see.
Like all Dublin bars it prides itself in selling a good pint of Guinness. That’s central to the Dublin pub experience.
Just look at these people flirting and having craic as we say here. This is what drinking in an Irish bar is all about and I’ve never encountered this atmosphere in a so-called Irish bar abroad. And, as I mentioned, music is what this bar is famous for and tonight is no exception. These guys are watched over by the musical icons on the walls.
So, I push my way into the back bar, as you can see it too is adorned with photos that allude to the pubs illustrious past. You can see the ceiling fans going. As I said it’s April and not particularly warm, but there’s just so many people. You really do have to push your way through the crowd to get to the toilets and getting served at the bar on a busy night like this can be difficult if you’re not assertive. But this is what it’s about – lots of people sharing the same space and enjoying themselves. The poor bar staff have a nightmare of a job on nights like these. Everyone wants served and everyone’s a priority.
And so for me the night’s over – though the revelry continues inside. We’re a long way from last orders and they’re just warming up.

Dublin is both the largest city in the Republic of Ireland and its capital.
It is a historical and contemporary center for arts, education, administration, economy and industry.
Dublin is known as the “Fair City” the nickname comes from the traditional Irish song.
Dublin has many landmarks dating back hundreds of years. One of the oldest is Dublin Castle, the former seat of British rule in Ireland.
Dublin Castle is the heart of this historic town. Originally built in the year 1200 as a defensive fortification, it later evolved into a royal residence.
On the grounds of the castle there is the Coach House, a gallery and exhibition space, and the Chester Beatty Library, a museum that contains a number of priceless objects.
Adjacent to the Dublin Castle, once known as the Royal Exchange, the City Hall, was the previous center of local administration.
Today’s local government debates in the relatively new and controversial City Council offices.
On the other side of the river is Four Courts, a grand, domed building that houses the main courts of Ireland.
Situated between the bus station and the river the Custom House is another impressive government building.
Dublin is also home to the Irish Houses of Parliament, which stand in front of the Trinity College, Ireland’s oldest university.
In the center of town is one of Dublin’s newest monuments, 120 meters tall, the Spire, is officially titled the Monument of Light.
Close to the Spire there are many historical landmarks, such as one of Ireland’s most iconic building, the General Post Office.
Dublin also has many sacred temples, such as St Patrick’s Cathedral. It is the National Cathedral and the largest church in the country.
Not far away is Christ Church Cathedral, the city’s oldest building, and standing next to it is the Dublinia, a museum focusing on the Viking and Medieval history of the city.
In the vicinity of the Garden of Remembrance, which is a memorial dedicated to the memory of “all those who gave their lives in the cause of Irish Freedom”, are the Abbey Presbyterian Church and, a gallery established to promote Irish literature, the Writers Museum.
Dublin is the city with many green areas. St Stephen's Green is a city center public park with the huge lake.
The Merrion Square is a leafy park with floral and heather gardens and notable Oscar Wilde Statue.
There is also the Phoenix Park, the largest enclosed urban park in Europe. Which has a polo field, the Dublin Zoo and the Wellington Monument.
Pubs are the soul of social life in Ireland where songs are sung and stories are told. Around Temple Bar Street there are many places where you can find a perfect pint.

The Long Hall Pub, one of the best pubs in Dublin? I think so, but you decide.
This is a very welcoming looking Dublin pub, situated in South Great George Street. It’s magnificent and definitely one of my favourites.
There’s no big sports screen or uncomfortably loud music. Instead we get a sumptuous Victorian interior, all in red with gorgeous lighting, red carpet and leather stools, stained glass and tasteful fittings.
The pub, as it is now, opened in the 1860s and, as you can see, still retains its Victorian charm. Prior to that it was a drinking establishment dating back as far as 1766. The pub backs on to Dublin Castle and was a local haunt for the fenians, a secret republican organisation in the late 19th and early 20th Century. This bar was where the failed fenian rising of 1867 was concocted and that led, in fact, to the bar being infiltrated with British Agents and eventually closed.
It was also frequented by Irish writer Brendan Behan, rock musician Thin Lizzy’s Phil Lynott (who’s also a Dublin legend) and even Bruce Springsteen, when he’s in town.
It’s massively busy here, on a Friday night, but if you want to enjoy the place in a more sedate atmosphere, try earlier in the day mid week where you can enjoy your pint of Guinness, in relative peace and quiet.
BEST VIEW IN DUBLIN - THE 200 YEAR OLD WALL | Great South Wall & Poolbeg Lighthouse
When we found out that there is a wall along which you can walk into the sea that sounded like an adventure we’d like to go on. The Great South Wall was built 200 years ago to stop sand from piling up in the harbour. On the tip of the wall Poolbeg Lighthouse helps guide ships into the harbour.
Walking there through Ringsend and Irishtown, we first got some nice views of Sandymount Beach. We cut through Irishtown Nature Park, along the beach to get to start of the Great South Wall. It took a little bit of courage at first to step onto this old stone wall leading straight into the ocean. Luckily, the sea was very calm that day and the waves weren’t too high.
As we walked along the wall, we were already treated to gorgeous views of the surroundings. There were also a variety of birds chilling out on the rocks. If you’re lucky you can even see seals sometimes apparently. We also saw quite a few people using the bathing shelters and swimming in the sea. Fair play to them.
The Lighthouse isn’t quite the reward for the walk, one of the best Dublin views is. Poolbeg Lighthouse is located in the centre of Dublin Bay, so the view you get is a full panorama of Dublin. To the North you have the coastline leading up to Howth Head. To the South you have the beaches leading up to Dalkey. You can also see the Wicklow Mountains. When you look straight ahead you get to see the classic view of the Poolbeg Chimneys in the skyline as well as ships going in and out of the port.
After your walk Dublin 4 is a good area to grab some lunch. It's a great place for a day trip to see Dublin like a local.

Powerscourt Centre, Dublin, imagine, this was once someone's massive house!
We start by viewing the Palladian style front of Powerscourt Centre in central Dublin on William Street South. But actually, we are not entering this way, in our film we approach the centre from behind, coming from Grafton Street and down a little laneway.
We pass St Terresa’s Church, a haven of serenity offering some respite from this bustling Dublin high end shopping area. Remember we’re only meters from Grafton Street.
And just on the other side of the laneway we have the side of the famous Bewley’s Oriental Café, an institution in Dublin and well worth a visit in itself.

As we enter the Powerscourt Centre what many people aren’t aware off is that this shopping centre began life as the 18th Century Townhouse of Viscount Powerscourt. How rich do you have to be to own a house like this I hear you ask, but actually, this was only his pied-a-terre in Dublin away from his country estate in County Wicklow.
More recently this place was developed into the shopping centre we see here. The conversion took place between 1978 and 1981. I remember being impressed on first coming here in the early 80s – there was nothing like this at that time in the North where I’m from.
So, as you can see it’s a place to come to eat and drink, meet with friends, or do some high-end shopping if you’ve got a few quid to spare. Dublin is an expensive place after all!
Admittedly the place is a bit empty today as it’s early morning, but by lunchtime this will be a vibrant space, full of Dublin hustle and bustle.

Dublin Port Perspectives - Port Stories Theatre Programme - The Lir & Ringsend College
Port Stories theatre is a programme that places Dublin Port, it's history, characters, folklore and legacy at it's core. During summer 2019, The Lir Academy teamed up with Ringsend College and together with Louise Lowe from ANU Productions, facilitated a ten day theatre led outreach programme with transition year students.
This programme offered the students a flavour of the subjects covered here including, acting, physical theatre, stage combat, stage management, sound design, costume, voice and movement. This programme was an immersive theatre experience where audiences were led by Lir students who helped to unfold untold stories pertaining to Dublin Port in Dublin Port HQ itself!
