Senegal | Long road to Podor, stuck at Richard Toll + great view of Senegal | Senegalese Twisted

Hello everyone!

It's that time again.. I am going to Podor (again) to visit my family and grandma. I prefer taking the night bus to travel from Dakar to Podor, however, it's not always possible to take one (planning + it gets full soon). Therefore, I took the morning bus for once and boy, did I regret that (worse timing ever), but in the end, everything always works out.

I took the bus that left Dakar at 6am and it seemed to be going well. We arrived at Richard Toll before 2pm, so we were really having a good trip - it seemed to go fast. However, we got stuck in Richard Toll because of an explosion at the factory (I'm telling you more about it in the video)... We got stuck in Richard Toll for a couple of hours, but afterwards we were back on the road again!

Definitely enjoy the road from Dakar to Podor with me. The trip is super long, so I understand why people don't easily go to Podor from Dakar. I really like visiting Podor for a couple of days, catch up with my family and then head back to Dakar. This time I loved capturing the things I saw between Dakar and Podor, because when I travel at night, I don't really see much of it..

Enjoy the vlog (appreciate the things we see on our way to Podor) and if you have any questions, ASK AWAY (you can do this on Instagram or TIkTok as well)!

If you want to stay in the loop, definitely me on instagram @senegalesetwisted).

After almost 3 years, I find myself back in Dakar, Senegal. I plan on staying in Senegal for about 3 months. Mostly to work on creating content, connecting with local creatives and to work on some personal projects such as my next Wolof class.

Thank you so much for following me, watching my video's, leaving kind words of encouragement or just reaching out and sharing memes. I really appreciate each and everyone of you! If you want to tip me for any work I have done, you can! -

Senegal | Welcome to Podor - Podor drone shots | Senegalese Twisted

Hello everyone!

I'm in Podor and because Podor is a whole lot more quiet than Dakar, I usually take some time to use my drone. So, I actually took out my drone right before I had to go take the bus back to Dakar, and that's actually the best time (around 5/6 pm), because the sun is about to set, it is much cooler and the people get out!

Like you can see, the kids are outside playing soccer, the grownups are doing the same (on the big field behind our house) and the people are outside, talking, making tea and just doing house work.

Definitely enjoy the drone shots of Podor, it was refreshing seeing Podor from above while editing this video. If you have any questions, ASK AWAY (you can do this on Instagram or TIkTok as well)!

If you want to stay in the loop, definitely me on instagram @senegalesetwisted).

Entry from: Podor, Senegal
Entry Title: De Richard Toll

Entry:

Senegal | Traditional (Fulani/Arabic) wedding in Podor & getting henna | Senegalese Twisted

Hello everyone!

I'm in Podor! After a long a$$ day of traveling and being stuck in Richard Toll, I am finally in Podor. It is the next day and I stumble upon a wedding in our front/back yard! Of course, I go there with my camera and try to capture it as best as I can.

The wedding is a traditional Fulani/Arabic one. In Podor, most people are Fulani or Peulh and that is also the language that is mostly spoken here. Culturally speaking, Podor would be considered more traditional Fulani/Peulh (than Dakar for example). You can see the more Peulh/Fulani characteristics in our clothing, language and you can recognize it in the people. In addition, Podor is very close to Mauritania and there are many Senegalese people with Maurinatian backgrounds (and vice versa) that live in Podor. The family of the bride for example, is from Mauritania.

Definitely enjoy the traditional Fulani/Arabic wedding celebrations, I definitely enjoyed this. It was much more cultural than any of the weddings I have ever been to. I loved the women sitting together, dancing, the different colors they were wearing and the traditional music too!

Enjoy the wedding and if you have any questions, ASK AWAY (you can do this on Instagram or TIkTok as well)!
