Places to see in ( Bolzano - Italy ) Cable Car Renon
More than 100 years ago, the Bolzano aristocracy travelled on the cog railway from the Piazza Walther square in Bolzano to the Renon. Bus stop near the train station Bolzano, where buses go to Klobenstein / Renon or to the start of ropeways to Renon. In only 12 minutes you arrive to Soprabolzano - Renon.
This railway was replaced in 1966 by a cable car. In 2007 it was decided to build a new cable car, the first of its kind in Italy. The new system with two suspension cables and one traction cable, will be particularly useful for commuters and tourists.
The new cable car Renon, connecting Bolzano with Soprabolzano, is a model of modern International public transport. Departures every 4 minutes. From Soprabolzano it is possibile to continue round the Renon plateau via the scenic railway. The train journey between Soprabolzano and Collalbo, through wide meadows and fields, with views of mountain farms and glimpses of the beautiful Dolomites, is a breathtaking experience.

Mountains of Renon, Italy
Ritten (Italian: Renon) is a comune (municipality) in South Tyrol in the Italian region Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol.
The 111 km² community is named after the high plateau (1100-1400 m), the Ritten or the Renon, on which most of the villages are located. The plateau forms the southeast tip of the Sarntal Alps mountain range and is located between, and on average 800 m above, the rivers Eisack and Talfer. Ritten lies directly northeast of Bolzano, settled on the meeting point of the above rivers.
Ritten borders the following municipalities: Barbian, Bolzano, Kastelruth, Karneid, Völs, Jenesien, Sarntal and Villanders.
As of 30 November 2010, Ritten had a population of 7,597.

Earth pyramids of Ritten, South Tyrol, Dolomites - hiking for everyone
Earth pyramids of Ritten, South Tyrol, Dolomites are a phenomenon caused by erosion, appearing where ice age moraine loam from glaciers collected in the valleys. When dry, the material is as hard as rock but, combined with water, it becomes a clay-like mush which flows into the valley. It remains protected from the rain under large stones so that columns of earth are built up becoming taller after each rainstorm. In South Tyrol there are other natural monuments like this such as the earth pyramids of Platten, but the ones of Ritten are considered the parents of them all.

Come walk with me through Italy, specifically through a mountainous village tucked away in the Italian Alps called Soprabolzano / Oberbozen. Through this northern Italy travel series, we will visit an Italian chill town in the Apls called Bolzano (in Italian) or Bozen (in German). Die Rittner Seilbahn wurde am 23. Mai 2009 eröffnet und bietet mit ihrem flexiblen Fahrplan, der schnellen Fahrtzeit und leichten Erreichbarkeit unzählige Vorteile für Urlauber und Einheimische am Ritten. In nur zwölf Minuten schweben die Gondeln von Oberbozen in die Landeshauptstadt Bozen und das Dank des Vier-Minutentakts ohne Wartezeiten! Die Talstation der Rittner Seilbahn ist in 10 Gehminuten vom Stadtzentrum bzw. vom Zugbahnhof Bozen aus zu erreichen.
das historische Stadtzentrum kann bequem zu Fuß in zehn Minuten oder mit dem Bus in weniger als fünf Minuten erreicht werden.
So ist die Rittner Seilbahn der Südtiroler Firma Leitner ein Vorzeige-Verkehrsmittel von Weltklasse und vereint mit drei Seilen (zwei Tragseile, ein Zugseil) die Vorteile von Pendelbahn und kuppelbarer Umlaufbahn. Das doppelte Tragseil erreicht eine hohe Windstabilität, die geräumigen Kabinen bieten Platz für 30 Personen, auch Fahrräder und Kinderwägen finden in den Gondeln problemlos Platz.
Mit einem Einsatz von maximal acht Kabinen ist der vielgepriesene Vier-Minutentakt möglich, ein Fahrplan wird dadurch überflüssig. Je nach Bedarf kann die Frequenz der Gondelfahrten verringert und somit Energie eingespart werden.

Renon's new cable car opened on May 23, 2009, offering a whole bunch of fantastic advantages for vacationers and local commuters alike : a generous schedule, short travel time and easy access. It’s a true gem. It only takes 12 minutes for the gondolas to move from Oberbozen/Soprabolzano to Bozen/Bolzano –they depart every 4 minutes, so there’s practically no waiting time.
The valley terminal is located conveniently close to the city center. The historical old town can be reached comfortably in a 10-minute-walk or a less-than-five-minute bus ride. And so Renon’s cable car, constructed by the South Tyrolean company Leitner, has become a world-class model for public transportation. It unites all the advantages of an aerial tramway and a detachable gondola lift through the use of three cables (two support cables and one haul cable). The two support ropes make for an increased wind resistance, the spacious cabins hold up to 30 passengers, and bikes and strollers can also be brought on board. Thanks to the operation of up to eight cabins, a gondola departs every 4 minutes, and passengers can wave good-bye to restricting schedules and waiting times. During times of lesser demand and lower frequency of runs, gondolas are detached and thus energy can be saved.

In viaggio sull’Altipiano del Renon sospesi in un sogno
La Funivia del Renon è stata inaugurata il 23 maggio 2009. Grazie all’orario flessibile, la breve durata di viaggio e la facile raggiungibilità, la funivia offre innumerevoli vantaggi per i turisti e la gente del posto. In soli dodici minuti le cabine viaggiano sospese da Soprabolzano fino al capoluogo provinciale di Bolzano e, con viaggi a intervalli di soli quattro minuti, senza tempi d’attesa! La stazione della funivia a valle è nel centro di Bolzano. Il centro storico è raggiungibile comodamente a piedi in dieci minuti o con l’autobus in meno di cinque.Dal 17 marzo: servizio parzialmente limitato, rinviati i lavori di manutenzione
Così la Funivia del Renon, costruita dall’azienda altoatesina Leitner, è un mezzo pubblico flagship di ultima generazione a livello mondiale in quanto con l’impianto trifune (due funi portanti e una fune traente) unisce i vantaggi della funivia “va e vieni” con quelli di una cabinovia ad ammorsamento automatico. La doppia fune portante raggiunge un’elevata stabilità al vento, le cabine spaziose sono in grado di accogliere fino a 30 persone; anche biciclette e passeggini trovano spazio senza problemi nelle cabine.
Grazie all’impiego di un massimo di otto cabine è stato possibile cadenzare le corse a intervalli di quattro minuti, rendendo pertanto superflua la programmazione di un orario. In base alle necessità è possibile ridurre la frequenza delle corse, con conseguente risparmio energetico
