Und mittendrin der Keukenhof, einer der größten Blumenparks der Welt. Auf ihrer Reise durch das südliche Holland macht Andrea Grießmann auch Station in Leiden, in der Porzellanstadt Delft, sie begegnet den Malern Rembrandt und Jan Vermeer, in Den Haag begibt sie sich auf die Spuren der königlichen Familie, und sieht sich das moderne und zugleich alte Seebad Scheveningen an.
A seemingly endless sea of blossoms - not far from the beach and the sea: in spring, the landscape between Haarlem and The Hague resembles a huge, colorful painting. And right in the middle is the Keukenhof, one of the largest flower parks in the world. On her journey through southern Holland, Andrea Grießmann also stopped in Leiden, in the porcelain town of Delft, she met the painters Rembrandt and Jan Vermeer, in The Hague she followed the traces of the royal family and saw the modern and at the same time old Seaside resort Scheveningen.

Rotterdam is the second largest city and municipality in the Netherlands. It is in the province of South Holland, at the mouth of the Nieuwe Maas channel leading into the Rhine–Meuse–Scheldt delta at the North Sea. Its history goes back to 1270, when a dam was constructed in the Rotte. In 1340, Rotterdam was granted city rights by William IV, Count of Holland. The Rotterdam–The Hague metropolitan area, with a population of approximately 2.7 million, is the 10th-largest in the European Union and the most populous in the country.

History
The river Oude Rijn used to flow through the city center of Woerden, but in 1960 the old river was diverted around the city center. The city has a long and rich history in cheese making and trading; for years Gouda cheese for domestic and international use has been produced in this region. Woerden still holds its authentic (since 1885) cheese market at the market place in its center.
Roman castellum
Woerden is situated on the river Oude Rijn, near the confluence with the former Linschoten (water) [nl] stream. The lower stretch of the Linschoten stream from Montfoort and Linschoten to Woerden silted up a long time ago and its flow was diverted through the Lek and Hollandse IJssel rivers, but at one time it was an important branch of the Rhine delta, connecting the Lower Rhine from Wijk bij Duurstede to the Oude Rijn near Woerden. Near the former confluence was an area that was slightly more elevated than the surroundings, a natural levee, which — in an area that is prone to flooding — made it an attractive location for settlement.
Here, at the highest spot, the Romans built a castellum (Castellum Laurum), as part of the limes of the Roman Empire and thus part of the defense lines of the northern border of the Roman Empire. The first castellum was built in the 40s AD and was destroyed in 69 AD during the Batavian rebellion. In 70 AD, the castellum was rebuilt, and the Romans remained until 402 AD, with an interruption lasting from about 275-300 AD.
The Castellum was located at the present site of the medieval Petruschurch and surrounding churchyard. During construction work on a new underground parking facility in the city center of Woerden, the remains of numerous old Roman buildings and a Roman cargo ship were found. During field research, a lot became known about the Roman time in Woerden: the location of the castellum, the zone of defense waters with the entrance road and the remains of a Roman cargo ship.[5]

Woerden is located at 52°5′N 4°53′E in the west of the province of Utrecht in the center of the Netherlands.
Woerden is bordered by the municipalities of De Ronde Venen (in the north), Stichtse Vecht (northeast), Utrecht (east), and Montfoort (south) in the province of Utrecht and Bodegraven-Reeuwijk (southwest) and Nieuwkoop (northwest) in the province of South Holland.
The population centers in the municipality are De Meije, Harmelen, Kamerik, Kanis, Woerden, and Zegveld.

Reeuwijk-Dorp is een dorp behorende tot de gemeente Bodegraven-Reeuwijk in de provincie Zuid-Holland. Het dorp ligt ten noorden van Gouda en ten westen Reeuwijk-Brug en telt 1865 inwoners. Reeuwijk-Dorp werd rond de 13e eeuw gesticht. Tot de 18e eeuw was Reeuwijk-Dorp de hoofdplaats van de gemeente Reeuwijk, daarna ging die plaats over naar Reeuwijk-Brug.
Geografie
Reeuwijk-Dorp is gelegen in de polders tussen Reeuwijk-Brug, Waddinxveen, Gouda en Bodegraven, en is ontstaan aan de kruising van een aantal wegen, die nu de Dorpsweg, Kerkweg en Nieuwdorperweg heten. Deze structuur is heden ten dage nog steeds te herkennen. In de negentiende eeuw heeft een Rooms-Katholiek complex zich in het dorp gevestigd, met een kerk, klooster, school en landbouwcooperatie. Hierdoor maakte het dorp in die periode een groei door.
In de periode na de Tweede Wereldoorlog is aan de noordwestzijde een kleine nieuwbouwwijk aan het dorp toegevoegd. De meest recente uitbreiding vond plaats aan het einde van de jaren nul van de 21ste eeuw in zuidelijke richting.
In en rond het dorp zijn ongeveer tachtig agrarische bedrijven gevestigd.

Reeuwijk-Dorp had op 1 januari 2010 1.865 inwoners. Dit is een flinke toename ten opzichte van eerdere jaren, die vooral verklaard kan worden door de nieuwbouw aan de zuidkant van het dorp. De inwoners wonen verspreid over 640 woningen, die gemiddeld 388.000 euro waard zijn. 96% van de bevolking is autochtoon. 3% bestaat uit westerse allochtonen, 1% uit niet-westerse allochtonen.

Start bij parkeerplaats van Reeuwijkse plassen, rechter parkeerplaats aan einde ligt rechts de steiger.
Geen aanrader. Erg vervallen, route bordjes/paaltjes eigenlijk niet aanwezig. Twee boothellingen met prima steigers, maar bij de lage bruggetjes veel moeite om aan te leggen en de boot weer in het water te krijgen.

Every year, when winter arrives, many Dutch are tickeled by the skating virus. Everybody hopes for a typical Dutch winter with long periods of frost. The winter of 2021 was again such a beautiful winter like the old days!

From colorful Holland to Germany in 1957
Most attention is played to the Low Countries in this 1957 travelogie in silent 8mm film. We glances of the Hague, Kurhaus, Scheveningen and Amsterdam. There is also a visit to the 'bulb region'near Aaslmeer where all Dutch flowers come from. The erstwhile flower auction is also shown. Finally the border is crossed into Germany, but there being no titles I wonder which cities are visited. One sign says Bielefeld. Who recognizes the German cities?
Viewers comment: At 8:00 to 8:40 seems to be Groningen. At 9:00 seems to be Hanover Main Station and later at 9:30 Hanover Europa-Haus.So it seems that the visitors went from Amsterdam across the Afsluitdijk to Groningen and from there to Germany (Hamburg)See my other 1150 clips by searching YouTube with 'michael rogge'
