10. La Serena
This northern Chilean town is the second oldest in the nation. It boasts a city full of lovely architecture and a warm golden beach. La Serena has a reputation as an intellectual town, and has a number of great sights that fit this description, like an archaeological museum and astronomical observatory. Outdoor enthusiasts will love to bike through the Elqui Valley, swim, snorkel, dive and/or hike through Isla Damas, and visit the national park at Fray Jorge.
9. Santiago
The capital city is the political and cultural heart of Chile. From the high mountain views of the Cerro San Cristobal Park to the secluded history of poet Pablo Neruda’s writing retreat, there is much to see in Santiago. Top picks include skiing Valle Nevado or Portillo, wine tasting at Vina Aquitania, or visits to one of several top museums like Museo Chile de Arte Precolumbio or Museo de la Moda. For those who don’t want to spend all of their time in the city, there are amazing hiking opportunities like the steep slopes of Cajon de Maipo.
8. Chiloe Island
Chiloé Island is the largest island of the Chiloé Archipelago in the Los Lagos Region and the second-largest island in South America after Tierra del Fuego. In part because of its physical isolation from the rest of Chile, Chiloé has a very special architecture and local culture.
7. Iquique
This beautiful beach and casino town offers a vibrant boardwalk and gorgeous 19th century Georgian architecture like the Aztoreca Palace. Iquique is the Monte Carlo of Chile, and has much to offer for anyone who loves free-spirited fun. During the day, guests here can participate in world-famous surfing waves, paraglide or sand-board on the golden coast.
6. Chilean Fjords
The southern coast of Chile presents a large number of fjords and channels that provide the only access to this part of Patagonia. Sailing through this region can be an unforgettable experience. Most of the trips start from Puerto Montt and travel towards Carretera Austral, Laguna San Rafael and Puerto Natales.
5. Valparaiso
This hard-working economic port town on the coast of Central Chile was loved by the poet Pablo Neruda for its beautiful chaos. It boasts some of the first urban innovations in Latin America, like the first volunteer fire department. In addition to its working class roots, Valparaiso has a reputation for an underground street art movement.
4. Chilean Lake District
This long, lush volcanic valley region stretches from Puerto Montt in the South to Temuco in the North. It is home to dense forests, crystal-clear lakes, and snowcapped volcanoes. Before the introduction of Europeans, the lake district was thickly forested, and inhabited by the Mapuche, one of the few South American tribes to avoid being swallowed into the Incan nations.
3. San Pedro de Atacama
Popular among Chilean tourists and international visitors alike, this is one of the most visited places in Chile. San Pedro de Atacama is a town on the edge of one of the world’s most breathtaking landscapes. Austere, endless flood and salt plains surrounded by coppery mountains are plentiful, and have to be seen to be believed.
2. Torres del Paine
The “towers of blue” national park constitutes a glaciated region on the Southern tip of Chile. Three large pillars in the park give it its name, and it is also home to a number of “horns”, or other mountains, and glaciated lakes. Exploration through this park can be done via mini van tours, multi-day treks, or catamaran trips. There are a few services who will also offer horseback tours to some of the sites.

Located more than 3,500 km (2,000 miles) form central Chile, Easter Island continues to be one of the world’s great mysteries. This treeless island of hundreds of giant, hollow-eyed statues carved by its Polynesian visitors is an eerie yet beautiful example of human artistry and achievement.

Welcome to Santiago, Chile in 2022! Exploring Santiago is a great way to start learning more about Chile and the people who live in it, so in this video we explore the city and eat tons of Chilean food!
We start our exploration of Santiago with a visit to Plaza de Armas before heading to Paseo Ahumada to check out the many shops that pop up along this busy pedestrian street. We also visit the Catedral de Santiago, Plaza de la Constitucion (Constitution Plaza) to see La Moneda Palace (the President's Palace), Mercado la Vega (La Vega Market), Santiago Mercado Central (Santiago's Central Market), and San Cristobal Hill.
In between these attractions we try as many foods as we can stomach in one day! We managed to get our hands on some delicious Chilean flan (we are pretty sure it was flan), crab empandadas, piscola, torta de mil hojas (cake of a thousand leaves), mote con huesillo, hamburguesa chilena from Antigua Fuente, and chorrillana. If you don't know what some of those foods are, enjoy watching us learn about them in this video as well!

Episodio de 'ANDO EN TREN' (RIDING TRAINS) con el servicio de ferrocarriles de 'Metrotren Rancagua', uno de los trayectos clásicos de Santiago de Chile.
Este tren suburbano o de cercanías une a la ciudad de 'Santiago' con la ciudad de 'Rancagua' atravesando el valle central en un trayecto de 80 km. El tren para en las estaciones 'Estación Central' ('Alameda'), 'San Bernardo', 'Buin Zoo', 'Buin', 'Linderos', 'Paine', 'Hospital', 'San Francisco de Mostazal', 'Graneros' y 'Rancagua'. Por el momento, la Empresa de Ferrocarriles del Estado emplea trenes españoles 'UT440' en este servicio, situación que cambiará en los próximos años con una renovación de flota, con trenes chinos 'CRRC Sifang SFE'.
El tren se paga con la Tarjeta Tren Central, el trayecto tiene un costo de $2.400 pesos chilenos (unos 3 dólares), la compra de la tarjeta tiene otro valor aparte.
El viaje fue muy entretenido y bonito, pudimos ver el entorno de la Estación Central, trenes del servicio 'Metrotren Nos', el cruce del emblemático puente del río Maipo, además del hermoso paso por Angostura de Paine. El trayecto incluye un fragmento del poema 'Estrella de la Primavera' de mi autoría, además de que aparece en el libro 'Iris el sonido de las caracolas'.

Rancagua in Chile
Rancagua is a city south of Santiago in central Chile. Tree-lined Heroes Square commemorates the Chileans who fought in the Battle of Rancagua during the War of Independence. It's also home to the twin-towered Rancagua Cathedral. National hero General Bernardo O'Higgins directed troops during the battle from the nearby Merced Church. Housed in a colonial building, Rancagua Regional Museum explores the area's past.

Qué tal amigos... hoy en nuestro primer capitulo comenzamos recorrer los 10 lugares que no puedes dejar de visitar en Santiago de Chile.
Vistamos el rascacielos mas alto de Sudamérica con mas de 300 metros de altura y una vista panorámica en 360º esta obra comenzó de construirse el año 2005 e intervinieron en su construcción mas de 6.000 trabajadores abarcando un área total construida de 700.000 m2. Luego nos dirigimos al centro artesanal pueblito de los dominicos el cual es uno de los centros turísticos mas reconocidos de Santiago de Chile donde se ofrece una amplia gama de artesanías típicas de chilenas. Además en el lugar podrás visitar la famosa iglesia del lugar la cual es patrimonio cultural y monumento nacional.
Travel Guide to Chile
As the longest, thinnest country in the world, Chile stretches all the way from the borders with Bolivia and Peru in the north, 4,500ks to Tierra del Fuego in the south, and yet at its widest point it, in the Atacama Desert, is only 400ks across. Sandwiched between the Pacific Ocean and the towering Andes, this fascinating Latin American country is home to the world’s driest desert, arguably the continent’s most stunning national park, an impressive wine region and, on Chiloe Island, the home of the potato! An economically sound country that is fast become a first world nation, Chile has a huge amount to offer the modern traveller.
Unless coming in overland, most trips to Chile will start here in the nation’s capital, Santiago.
Although most guidebooks will tell you Santiago is not as exciting at Rio or as elegant and enchanting as Buenos Aires, and should be used only as a gateway to the rest of the country, I feel it is an interesting place to explore for a day or two. Like many large Latin American cities it suffers somewhat from schizophrenic urban design where the city’s impressive colonial past is often dwarfed and obscured by its more ugly modern present; tenement towers and, since its rise as a regional economic powerhouse – Chile has the highest GDP per capita in South America – glass fronted office blocks. But there are still some great sites to check out including the Plaza de Armas, the Palacio Modera, the city’s main museum, and the Mercado Central, where you can enjoy a delicious seafood lunch, beneath a roof that was actually made in Birmingham! Santiago also has some lovely hotels and is famous for its excellent dining.
But Santiago is unlikely to form the main reason for your visit to Chile, that is much more likely to lie either in the far north, in the Atacama region or in the far south in Patagonia.
From Santiago, and starting in the very south of the country in Chilean Patagonia, is Puerto Aranas, entry point for what is arguably the continents most impressive national park, Torres del Paine. Deriving its name from the bull-like horns of the park’s most impressive mountain, Torres del Paine covers a quarter of a million hectares, is home to some spectacular and varied accommodation, and is a great place to hike, horse ride or just enjoy the scenery.

Moving north, we come to the beautiful Lake District around the towns of Puerto Montt and Puerto Varas. Here, up the Puelo River valley, you can do some wonderful horse riding as well as walking and kayaking. A short distance off the coast you also have Chiloe Island, which along with stunning coastal walks is also famous for being home of the potato. Heading further north other notable places are the beautiful coastal towns of La Serena and Valparaiso – just a stone’s throw from the capital Santiago – and the wine district of Coquimbo where some of the country’s leading wines are manufacture
And here in the far north of the country, lies the truly extraordinary Atacama Desert. Bordering Bolivia, Peru and Argentina, is a region that’s renowned as being the driest place on earth.
