Lascari - Piccola Grande Italia

???????? porta delle Madonie

Menfi - Piccola Grande Italia

First Thoughts on Agrigento, Sicily | Cheapest Arancini in Italy

Welcome to Agrigento, everybody! It's our first time in this city and this is the first part of our series exploring the beautiful city in the West of the Italian Island Sicily.

We started our trip this morning by jumping in our car and driving about an hour to the south from Trapani - a west coast town, where we have been staying for the last month.

The moment we have arrived in the city we felt extremely hungry, so we decided to stop by a little sandwich shop, however, due to Siesta it was closed (this really happens to us a lot).

We decided to not waste any time and headed off to see the medieval Cathedral of Agrigento but as the cathedral was booked for the wedding, we decided to not disturb the newlyweds and continued exploring the narrow streets telling you a bit more of the so much related to Ancient Greek history of the city.

After a little walk through the hilly town, we finally found a little local coffee bar in the center of the city, where we got ourselves probably the cheapest arancini in town!

As the sun was setting down, we had to leave the beautiful city of yellow streets and head of to one of the most amazing places in the region - Scala Dei Turchi or Turkish stairs.

Stay tuned for the new episode where our adventure in Agrigento continues in search of Scala Dei Turchi or Turkish stairs.

Spoiler alert - new episode is coming up on Tuesday STAY TUNED!

Who doesn't love Italian cuisine? Thanks to Stanley Tucci and his excellent Searching For Italy docuseries, we now know what some of the best restaurants in Italy are. For a country that is world-famous for its countless delicacies, it’s hard for a traveler to know where to begin. Hopefully, after watching this video, you’ll have a better idea of what to expect on your next culinary adventure in Italy.

Stanley Tucci is an Italian-American actor and filmmaker who got his start when he made his film debut in 1985s John Huston's Prizzi's Honor. He went on to enjoy supporting roles in a variety of films, such as Woody Allen's 1997 black comedy Deconstructing Harry, Sam Mende's Academy Award-winning 2002 crime drama Road to Perdition, and Steven Spielberg's equally delightful 2004 comedy-drama The Terminal.

As a filmmaker, Tucci made his directorial debut with the cult comedy Big Night which hit theaters in 1996. He later played Stanley Kubrick in the TV film The Life and Death of Peter Sellers and shared the screen with Meryl Streep in 2006s The Devil Wears Prada and once again in 2009s Julie & Julia.

Tucci went on the gain further critical acclaim for his work on films such as 2010s Burlesque, 2015s Spotlight, 2020s Supernova, and The Hunger Games trilogy.

While Tucci’s first love will always be cinema, he’s also a very astute and well-traveled foodie. Being an individual who is ‘Italian on both sides’, he’s particularly fond of the cuisine from the country that his family hailed from.

In 2021, Tucci began hosting the culinary travel series Stanley Tucci: Searching For Italy. This six-part original series aired on CNN and followed the actor and filmmaker as he embarked on a mouth-watering food tour of Italy. The series was honored with two Primetime Emmy Award nods, and in 2022, it was renewed for a second season. In this video, we'll be taking a look at every restaurant seen in the first season of Tucci’s critically-acclaimed program.

Wedding in Agrigento, Sicily, Italy

Salvatore&Olga and their lovely wedding in the Valley of Temples, Agrigento.

Salvatore was born in Raffadali and Olga comes from Kiev. Their long relationship concluded with an extraordinary wedding in Sicily, that mixed together two different cultures and traditions. Despite Salvo being catholic, the wedding was celebrated with christian orthodox rite and was held in one of the oldest churches in Agrigento that is situated inside The Valley of Temples, a very important archeological site in Sicily.

The orthodox wedding ceremony was one the most curiuos part for the italian half of guests. After the ceremony Olga and salvo had their wedding photoshoot among the ruins of ancient Greek temples, that look gorgeous on sunset. Their wedding day concluded with an exquisite dinner at the Feudo Burrajotto and some crazy dancing that involved all thier international relatives and guests!

Video by Francesco D`Avola

In viaggio in Italia: provincia di Agrigento

I migliori paesaggi italiani.
