The Shahdag Mountain Resort Complex (Şahdağ Turizm Merkezi) opened to the public in 2012. It is located in the Azerbaijan's Greater Caucasus range, the site is located near Shahdag National Park, which is known for having an intact ecological system and an untouched flora and fauna.
It is the first and largest ski resort in Azerbaijan. Plans for the project include 10-12 3 star hotels, golf-clubs, 160-180 cottages, Aqua Park and other objects (places for the living of employees, car parks, workshops for technical works etc.) in the complex.

In this video, we started our journey from Baku to an epic holiday adventure to Shahdag Mountain Resort in Azerbaijan! ????❄️????
But wait, it got even more exciting! We took a scenic route via Quba village, and let me tell you, the views were out of this world! ????
The snow-capped mountains were rising majestically in the distance, and the landscape was a mesmerizing blend of white and blue.
The air was crisp, and the anticipation was building as we drove through the winding roads, surrounded by pristine snow-covered peaks. ❄️????️
It was like stepping into a winter wonderland!
We can hardly contain our excitement! Couldn't wait to hit the slopes and experience the thrill of winter sports at Shahdag Resort.
Overall, the road trip from Baku to Shahdag Mountain Resort via Quba village was a breathtaking journey through the scenic beauty of Azerbaijan's countryside, offering stunning mountain views, picturesque villages, and an unforgettable winter wonderland experience.

Hey friends! ????
So, we recently took a trip to Shahdag Mountain Resort from Baku and it was an amazing experience!
We stayed there for three days and enjoyed all the winter sports that the resort had to offer.
The best season to visit is definitely during the winter months (from December to march) when there is plenty of snow and the ski slopes are in full swing.
The hotel stay was fantastic, with comfortable rooms and great amenities like the spa and gym.
The staff was also very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. We definitely recommend staying at this resort if you're looking for a winter getaway.
Since, we visited in the late winter (off-season) ie. in the first week of April, we booked our luxurious double room for 150 ₼ MANAT.
There was a complimentary breakfast included and we absolutely loved our stay.
In terms of winter activities, there is so much to do at Shahdag.
Skiing and snowboarding are the main attractions, but there are also activities like snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and even a snow park for kids. The resort also has a cable car and a snow buggy, which offers a unique way to experience the mountain views.
Overall, we think Shahdag Mountain Resort is the best place to stay in Azerbaijan for a winter vacation.

I'm so excited to share that we were at Shahdag Resort in Azerbaijan! ????❄️
It was a winter wonderland there, and we tried out the popular alpine coaster! ????
One of the most exciting attractions here, open in all seasons, is the new Alpine Coaster – the only mountain coaster in the Caucasus.
It was a winter wonderland here.
Located at 1,430 metres above sea level, the coaster features a 1670m track with 9 thrilling turns, allowing adrenaline seekers the unique opportunity to experience the stunning mountain scenery, snow-covered in winter and perfectly green in summer, while zooming down at 42km/h. The 50 sleds installed on the attraction allow 300-350 people to use it per hour.
It's an absolutely thrill-seeker & it's amazing to experience the twists, turns, and breathtaking views as we zip down the mountain! ????????

5. Lankaran is one of the oldest cities in the Republic of Azerbaijan, the largest city in the southern region, the administrative center of Lankaran district. It is considered the pearl of the south, it is a republican subordinated city. The city of Lankaran is located on the south-western shore of the Caspian Sea, where the River Lankaranchay flows into the Caspian Sea.
Humid subtropical climate, not having a harsh winter, dry and hot summer days, rainy fall have conditioned the rich flora and fauna of this region.

Mingachevir is a young industrial city created after the Second World War. It was built in connection with the construction of a hydroelectric power plant on the River Kur. It is located 323 km from Baku. It is 17 km from the Baku-Tbilisi railway. Mingachevir reservoir is located in the north-west of the district, 3 km from the city.
The climate of Mingachevir is mildly warm.
Mingachevir is the 4th largest industrial center of the republic. 3. Sumgayit is the second largest modern city in the Republic of Azerbaijan after Baku in terms of population and industrial importance. It is located 35 km north of the capital, in the European part of the country, on the Absheron Peninsula, in the plains on the west coast of the Caspian Sea.

Azerbaijan is a country in the Caucasus region of Eurasia. Located at the crossroads of Eastern Europe and Western Asia, it is bounded by the Caspian Sea to the east, Russia to the north, Georgia to the northwest, Armenia to the west and Iran to the south. The exclave of Nakhchivan is bounded by Armenia to the north and east, Iran to the south and west, and has a 10 km (6.2 mi) long border with Turkey in the northwest.
Azerbaijan is known for having nine of the 11 defined ecological zones. Much of the country is temperate year-round. Nation-wide the average temperature for the year is 14-15°C (57-59°F). The Caucasus Mountains protect the country from the Arctic air masses that affect Russia in winter while the Caspian Sea shields it from the hot, dry air of Central Asia in the summer. Temperatures in the winter are cool (0-10°C/32-50°F) at lower altitudes and along the coast and drops moderately as you head inland and drastically as you head into the mountains (-20°C/-4°F is possible in the Caucasus Mountains). Summers range from warm to hot (20-40°C/68-104°F) throughout most of the country, although breezes off the Caspian make life pleasant along the coast.
The Old City of Baku is the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Baku has a number of historic and architectural monuments. The Old City is its ancient core. In December 2000, the Old City (including the Palace of the Shirvanshahs and the Maiden Tower) was named Azerbaijan's first UNESCO World Heritage site.
The Walled City of Baku (Icheri Sheher) hosts over 50 historic and architectural monuments, including Synyg Gala (the Broken Tower). The Palace of the Shirvanshahs, built at the beginning of the 15th century, is a hallmark of Azerbaijani architecture. The complex contains the palace, the Shirvanshah's residence, a mosque with minarets, a bathhouse and the residence of Seyid Yahya Bakuvi. Construction began in 1441 and was completed in 1558.
The Maiden Tower, in the south-western part of the walled city, was built in two stages. Its bottom part, 13.7 metres (45 ft) high, is dated by most experts to the 6th–7th centuries BC. The tower has a total height of 29.7 metres (97 ft), with a diameter of 16.5 metres (54 ft). The wall is 5 metres (16 ft) thick at the bottom, tapering to 4 metres (13 ft) at the top. The tower has of eight tiers and a 21-metre-deep (69 ft) well. It was built by 12th-century architect Masud ibn Davud, who was probably the father of the architect of the Mardakan Round Tower. Its foundation is believed to be a Sasanid-era Zoroastrian site.
Ateshgah of Baku
The Ateshgah of Baku is a temple in the south-western Suraxanı raion on the Absheron Peninsula, 30 kilometres (19 mi) from Baku. West of the Caspian Sea, it was built by Hindu, Sikh and Parsi traders from the Indian subcontinent during the 17th and 18th centuries. Ateshgah is a fire temple, with its central stone shrine on a pocket of natural gas. The present structure was built around 1713, and the central shrine was funded by the merchant Kanchanagaran in 1810.
Gobustan National Park
Gobustan National Park, southwest of Baku, is noted for its rock carvings. The park was founded in 1966 when the region was declared a national historical landmark to preserve its ancient carvings and mud volcanoes.
Gobustan Rock Art Cultural Landscape, in the park, has more than 6,000 rock engravings dating back from 5,000 to 40,000 years. The site also features the remains of inhabited caves, settlements and burials, reflecting intensive use by the area's inhabitants from the Upper Paleolithic to the Middle Ages. The site covers an area of 537 hectares (1,330 acres).
Palace of Shaki Khans
The Palace of Shaki Khans in Shaki, 246 kilometres (153 mi) from Baku, was a summer residence of the Shaki Khanate which was built in the early 18th century. It features decorative tiles, fountains and several stained-glass windows.
Mountain tourism
Khinalig, in the Quba region on the southeastern ridge of the Caucasus Mountains, is Azerbaijan's highest mountain village. Its highest peak is 2,250 metres (7,380 ft) above sea level. There are a number of caves around the village, which has a small museum with local artifacts such as tools, toys, clothes and manuscripts.
The village of Lahij, in the southern Greater Caucasus range of northern Azerbaijan about 1,505 metres (4,938 ft) above sea level, is a center of ancient art. Lahij is known for its forests, mountains, waterfalls, historic monuments and ancient artifacts. Laza is a village at the foot of 4,243-metre (13,921 ft) Mount Shahdagh.
Shahdag Mountain Resort (named after the Greater Caucasus mountain), about 32 kilometres (20 mi) from Qusar, is Azerbaijan's first ski resort.

Qusar is one of the 66 districts of Azerbaijan. It is located in the north-east of the country and belongs to the Quba-Khachmaz Economic Region. The district borders the districts of Quba, Qabala, Khachmaz, and the Russian Republic of Dagestan. Its capital and largest city is Qusar. As of 2020, the district had a population of 99,00.
History
The earliest sediments in the district belong to the Jurassic Period, 135–145 million years old. It is estimated that life in the Qusar district has been existing since the 2nd millennium B.C. Mahmudtapa, the hills of Monsar, the Govdushan hills, the hills of Hafla belonging to the Bronze Age, the hills of Kyzylgul and Agahan, the Halakhur hills belonging to the Middle Ages are ancient dwellings dating back to the 1st millennium B.C.
The district was originated in 1930 and called Gil District with a centre in Gil village. In 1934, the centre of the district was moved to Qusar, and in 1938 it was renamed Qusar District.
Qusar is home to Shahdag Mountain Resort one of the biggest ski resorts in Caucasus and Azerbaijan's first and largest winter resort. Tourist facilities also include such recreational areas as Alpine Gusar, Star Gusar, Gayi Bulak, mountain tourism recreation area Suvar and Olympic Sports Complex.
There are 2 architectural and 46 archaeological monuments in Qusar. The remains of the 13th century fortress in the village of Anigh, the Shaykh Junayd Mausoleum built in 1544 in the village of Hazra (Yargun), are protected by the government as significant architectural monuments of the country. There are also Kohne Khudat and Huray mosques, belonging to the 18th century, Gil, Gyunduzgala and Hasangala mosques, belonging to the 19th century. There is a museum named after Russian poet Mikhail Lermontov.
Laza is a village in the Qusar Rayon of Azerbaijan. The village forms part of the municipality of Kuzun.
Laza village is located 1300 m above sea level at the foot of the Mount Shahdagh in the north-east of the Greater Caucasus. The village is well known with its numerous waterfalls.
There is a historical monument – a 300-year-old mosque in the village.
Ethnic Lezgins live in the village. There are 28 houses in the village of Laza where nearly 170 people live. The main occupation of the residents is cattle-breeding. People cultivate potatoes and cabbage.
