AVOID MALTA IN 2023 - It's Not What You Think ????????

Just an honest video of what's it like in St. Paul's Bay - Bugibba & Qawra in Malta. This video represents my personal opinion, plus the presented state of things here. Sustainability levels of this island are becoming exhausted.

St. Paul's Bay, Malta is a local council consisting of Bugibba, Qawra and St. Paul's Bay residential areas. Full of shops, restaurants, hotels and couple of local seafood stores. It is also the most populated town in Malta, and the town with most of the construction works after St. Julian's and Sliema.

Which area of Malta is best to live ?

These are the best places to live in Malta. In this video im sharing information about living in Malta in the Central part VS the North part VS the South part. In the Central part of Malta we have Valletta the capital city, Sliema and St Julians which are the areas in Malta where a lot of tourists are visiting. Valletta is a place where you can find a work but i would not recommend to live there, it is better to live in the surroundings of Valletta, places like Pieta, Hamrun, Qormi, Marsa and Santa Venera. In the North part of Malta we have the St Pauls Bay area which is perfect to find job opportunity during the season in Malta, and it is an area where a lot of Expats are living in Malta. The South part of Malta i divided it to Marsaxlokk and Marsaskala, where i prefer to live in Marsaskala. Then we have Birzebugga where foreign people from African countries prefer to live and lastly we have Zurrieq and Qrendi which are one of the most Maltese areas where mostly local people are living. These areas in Malta are quite and very clean but far from the central Malta so you definitely need to get a car or spend 1 hour journey with a bus.

4 Days in MALTA ???????? | Valletta, Gozo, Mdina & More Travel Vlog

This travel guide will show you the best things to do in Malta! I visited the island for 4 days and got to see so many places - from Gozo, the Blue Lagoon and Mdina to Comino and Sliema. In this vlog I share the best food in Malta, famous filming locations (Game of Thrones anyone?) and what to do in Malta ????

If you'd like to visit, spend 3 nights in Malta for a fun and culture filled extended weekend! Flights from other European cities tend to be super affordable and the island is still very sunny in the autumn, making it the perfect getaway.

Other places we will visit in this travel vlog include Ggigantija Temple, Xaghra, Melieha and The Three Cities (Vittoriosa, Senglea & Cospicua). Are there other things to see in Malta you'd recommend?

PS: I went on this Maltese adventure with three other travel Instagrammers. Check them out @thirdeyetraveller, @saintsonaplane and @melbtravels ????

Daisy Bay (Irsejjen Bay) Qrendi Malta

#Malta #Trekking #hiking #beach
Today me and Sharon will explore Daisy Bay , that later got to know it’s actually Irsejjen Bay, in the limits of Qrendi. I will park my car at Hagar Qim parking and start my trek from there. From here we will follow Wied Iz-Zurrieq Valley until 'il-Kamra it-Tonda' . Then make our way with the cliffs until we reach this rugged small bay, just 400m away from Natural Pool and just under Mnajdra temple.

Place in Malta not many people talk about

this is one great place in Malta not many people talk about, the beautiful village of Qrendi, fantastic place in Malta that is not so mainstream but it is worth visiting while on holiday in Malta. This place is located in the southern area of Malta and it is worth to visit. it Located in this place are historical temples that many tourists are visiting, Haqar Qimm! This place is also excellent if you are planning on moving to Malta and you are looking for a quiet place in Malta where you will meet many local people. Not so many people talk about this place in Malta and i highly suggest people to visit as it shows the pure tradition of the Maltese people.

In this video, for the Malta Chapel Hunt Series, I couldn't make it to all the 6 Chapels as I was losing light. So, you will see me go visit these 4 Qrendi Chapels (this is PART 1)

Walking around Qrendi, Malta

Starting near Qrendi Parish Church, we take a circular route proceeding first towards Cavalier Tower and the chapel dedicated to St. Catherine ('Tat-Torba'). We then detour east into the area where the abandoned village of Hal-Lew once stood. There we visit 'Tal-Hniena' Sanctuary and proceed onward to Wied Hoxt around the 'Maqluba' depression. We return to the main village square after a short detour to 'Tal-Grazzja' chapel and Guarena Palace.

Qrendi Malta in 4k Drone footage

It was on the 23rd November 1343 that Malta was hit by a storm which raged for three continuous days flooding the whole of the landscape. It is thought that it was exactly as a consequence of this storm that one prominent land feature which has become synonymous with Qrendi, known to all as il-Maqluba, was formed.

This sinkhole or Doline is associated with a legend that has been recounted by numerous authors, some giving it a little more colour or differing in some minor detail. The legend itself has, however, withstood the test of time.

The Maqluba Legend as recounted narrates of a village that were not living according to the will of God. A devout woman used to warn them on the need to change their ways and revert to a righteous life, as otherwise Almighty God would punish them. With her warnings going unheeded, everything was destroyed as the village was swallowed by the land and all that remained was a large and deep hole in the ground, and where only the God-fearing woman remained. A variant of this legend speaks of a nun as saved while praying in the small San Mattew Crypt during the occurrence.

The Maqluba sinkhole or doline adjacent to the chapel of St Matthew is composed of blue clay and globigerina limestone that top the lower coralline limestone or żonqor. The area is a place of natural interest and beauty formed via the power of storm water runoff water which percolated through cracks and crevices. This gradual, yet constant, penetration created underground cavities and caves which became larger with the passing of time thus producing a hollow that was eventually unable to support the overlying top layer, which eventually collapsed and created the doline that can be seen today.

With an area of 420 square metres, and a perimeter measuring 260 metres, the Maqluba doline offers the visitor more of a spot of natural beauty and attributed legend. Dominant trees identified in this site include the laurel tree (siġra tar-rand) not too widely found in the Maltese islands; the fig tree (siġra tat-tin), the pomegranate tree (siġra tar-rummien) the carob tree (siġra tal-ħarrub), the hawthorn (siġra tal-anżalor) along with reeds (qasab) and the bramble (għollieq).

One particular species that merits special mention is the sandarac gum tree (siġra tal-għargħar) which naturally occurs in North Africa, Southern Spain, and in Malta growing only at Maqluba and Imġiebagħ and in the Mellieha area

Under these trees other plants thrive such as the large-leafed nettle (ħurrieq) and the cleavers (ħarxajja komuni). On the sides of the Maqluba many other flora species cling to the steep rocky flanks that enclose this depression. Thus one notices the Maltese salt tree (xebb), the ivy (liedna) and the caper (kappara), but also the prickly pear (bajtra tax-xewk) and the omnipresent Bermuda buttercup (ħaxixa Ingliża) along with many other plants.

The list of fauna identified in the Maqluba is also interesting especially as some of these creatures are endemic to Malta, including a number of species of beetle, slug, types of rare ants, a rare woodlouse including the grey long-eared bats and free-tailed bats, known to inhabit this zone.

Il-Maqluba is a Special Area of Conservation – Candidate Site of International Importance and designated as a Tree Protection Area, forming part of Natura 2000 sites, a network of nature protection areas within the European Union.

Mnajdra or L-Imnajdra is a Megalithic temple complex. UNESCO SITE! - Qrendi, Malta - ECTV

Mnajdra (Maltese: L-Imnajdra) is a megalithic temple complex found on the southern coast of the Mediterranean island of Malta. Mnajdra is approximately 500 metres from the Ħaġar Qim megalithic complex. Mnajdra was built around the fourth millennium BCE; the Megalithic Temples of Malta are among the most ancient religious sites on Earth,[1] described by the World Heritage Sites committee as unique architectural masterpieces.[2] In 1992 UNESCO recognized the Mnajdra complex and four other Maltese megalithic structures as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.[3] In 2009 work was completed on a protective tent.[4]

Mnajdra is made of coralline limestone, which is much harder than the soft globigerina limestone of Ħaġar Qim. The main structural systems used in the temples are corbelling with smaller stones, and post and lintel construction using large slabs of limestone.

The cloverleaf plan of Mnajdra appears more regular than that of Ħagar Qim, and seems reminiscent of the earlier complex at Ggantija. The prehistoric structure consists of three temples, conjoined, but not connected: the upper, middle, and lower.

The upper temple is the oldest structure in the Mnajdra complex and dates to the Ggantija phase (3600-3200 BC).[7] It is a three-apsed building, the central apse opening blocked by a low screen wall. The pillar-stones were decorated with pitmarks drilled in horizontal rows on the inner surface.[8]

The middle temple was built (or possibly rebuilt) in the late Tarxien phase (3150 – 2500 BC), the main central doorway of which is formed by a hole cut into a large piece of limestone set upright, a type of construction typical of other megalithic doorways in Malta. This temple appears originally to have had a vaulted ceiling, but only the base of the ceiling now remain on top of the walls [9] and, in fact, is the most recent structure. It is formed of slabs topped by horizontal courses.

The lowest temple, built in the early Tarxien phase, is the most impressive and possibly the best example of Maltese megalithic architecture. It has a large forecourt containing stone benches, an entrance passage covered by horizontal slabs, one of which has survived, and the remains of a possibly domed roof.[10] The temple is decorated with spiral carvings and indentations, and pierced by windows, some into smaller rooms and one onto an arrangement of stones.

The lowest temple is astronomically aligned and thus was probably used as an astronomical observation and/or calendrical site. On the vernal and the autumnal equinox sunlight passes through the main doorway and lights up the major axis. On the solstices sunlight illuminates the edges of megaliths to the left and right of this doorway.

Although there are no written records to indicate the purpose of these structures, archaeologists have inferred their use from ceremonial objects found within them: sacrificial flint knives and rope holes that were possibly used to constrain animals for sacrifice (since various animal bones were found).[citation needed] These structures were not used as tombs since no human remains were found.[13] The temples contain furniture such as stone benches and tables that give clues to their use. Many artifacts were recovered from within the temples suggesting that these temples were used for religious purposes, perhaps to heal illness and/or to promote fertility.

My name is Eric Clark and I am a world traveler. I have been around the world a few times and decided to help fund my travels by sharing my videos and pictures. I have been to almost every country and would be glad to give tips and pointers. Drop me a note. = )

EDEN 2017 - Qrendi (Malta)

Qrendi is located in the South West part of Malta. Life within the Qrendi confines has been recorded as far back as the early to later Pleistocene times (circa 2.588 million to 11.700 years ago). Neolithic ruins that complement Malta’s largest free-standing temples, Phoenician, and Palo Christian rock tombs and catacombs are also located in Qrendi. All complimented by a countryside rich in flora and fauna.

Today I will explore Pixxina Naturali in limits of Qrendi. I will park my car at Ghar Lapsi close to the parking area where the Ta' RIta Restaurant was and start my trek from there. This area is spectacular trek and offers beautiful views of Filfla, beautiful sunsets, caves and this sea connected natural pool. This hike is not so long and offers med difficulty. This natural pool is hidden in a very small enclosed valley and is connected to the the sea as you can see from the video.

Hope you enjoy
